A Song Of The Taste Buds… Stream of consciousness Saturday

Food. Yes. It is one thing that we all partake of throughout our lives. It evokes a whole lot of good feelings and memories in most of us.

It is used to celebrate virtually every form of congregation known to man and as a former food business owner, it is a very profitable business, but also a slave master that requires so much work to produce a piece of delicacy that is consumed in a bite.

As though Linda is aware of my last night’s secrets of eating a little more helping from the buffet, with the prompt word ‘Food,’ I might as well confess and write the thoughts that I had when my eyes beheld the arrays of edible brilliance.

The Song Of My Taste BudsSoCS badge 2015

The flowing fountain of chocolate

The decadent slices of creme brulee, creamy cakes and buttery cups of cream caramel

The offerings of fish dishes, pan-fried, battered, deep-fried baked or barbecued,

They all seemed, fluffy and delicious, asking for a taste.

Rice in such designs, from vegetable, to plain, to white, to curry, it’s all nice

The sauteed meats and the not so laughing cow

Giant shrimps and huge prawns with beady eyes,

The crabs claws looks set to give the fingers a pinch

The steam rising from the chaffing dishes,

Disseminating the flavourful aroma of dishes a plenty

Mashed potatoes to go with black pepper sauce

Artichokes, Mushrooms, Broccoli, Lettuce and so much more

Pot roast, meatloaf, clam chowders oh my

All the drool inducing platters

An orchestra to ravenous appetite

The soft music plays on as we rotate round the food circle

A bite, a sip of drink and laughter

The elation on the faces of the consumers, says it all

The conviviality in the air

Our senses all dancing to the beat of our stomach

And the siren call of the food platter.

Eye’s Speak Volumes…

1442564797239[1]

Look me in the eyes

So that I may see into your heart

Whisper to me the loves songs

That radiates in your pupils

So that their echoes may make my blood thrum

When two hearts are in love

We have no need for so much words

For your eyes speak volumes

That your mouth cannot put into shape

Yet it makes my body sing.

Back in the days, my mother did a lot of speaking to us with her eyes. For instance, when we go out and someone offers us a cookie, you have to look at dear mother’s face, before daring to accept that cookie and the gleam in her eyes or the nod of her head will tell you what to do.

No words said! Sometimes, you might make a mistake in translating the meaning of that look and wolf down the biscuit.

You will surely have some explaining to do. One scrumptious cookie might not be worth all the drilling questions that you will have to answer to.

So if you are not too sure, you simply say, ‘No thank you Ma’ to the biscuit tender even if drool is pooling in your mouth.

Naturally, I love being around people and would talk to total strangers. In a safe environment of course because there are so many crazies in this time and age.

Sometimes, I go people watching, where I will see a large crowd of human beings going about their lives.

I may say nothing, but just let the cacophony of their words wash over me.

A snippet overheard here and there could trigger a memory, an inspiration, a story or more.

Sometimes, I wish I could do a documentary of some of the fascinating humans that I have come across.

It’s been a while that I had a girls night out with friends, where we would dance, laugh and shout on top of our voices.

No one hears what they other is saying, but we leave for our homes and husbands, happy as larks.

When it comes to serious talk, I like a one-on-one, where I can listen quietly, read your nuances and get a clear meaning of what you are trying to transmit.

The ideal conversation depends on the occasion, what is being discussed and also the people involved.

I also happen to love being left alone by myself. I am never bored being all alone because I have perfect conversations with myself and the many voices in my head.

No! I am not crazy like that. I don’t know if I am normal, but that’s fine. I don’t care if the ship with the normal people left without me a long time ago.

The Daily Post prompt Counting Voices.

A lively group discussion, an intimate tête-à-tête, an inner monologue — in your view, when it comes to a good conversation, what’s the ideal number of people?

If you fancy a dalliance with your ink pot, you can share your poems also on Ink and Quill.
Enjoy the moments.

Since starting my blog, Ink and Quill, my passion for poetry has grew immensely. I love the way, writing poetry makes me feel. To push the bounds, think outside the box, and challenge norms.

The support and encouragement, I have received from the WP Community, has been outstanding. It really has made me a better person and writer. I now think of myself as a writer and I’m challenging myself everyday.

So I started a thread, to share poetry on Ink and Quill, from amazing poets from around the world. To promote their work.

Together we can encourage, promote and support writers. This is my little way of helping, as I have been helped.

Please spread the word. Lets unite and promote writers around the world.

Thank you Jen

A Love That Endures…

Life well-loved is a chosen treasure!

A singular shot to blissful existence!

Benefits we get with utmost pleasure!

He fortifies us with desired persistence!

When his face is sought with fervent endeavour!

Huge burdens becomes less of a pressure!

For he adorns us with unquantified favour!

Which takes us up to a higher measure!

God! Your peace is ever so soothing, your boundless love reassures!

Taking our misery to mirth, taking all our pain to gain!

Your faithfulness is forever as Your mercy endures!

The best gifts of life are all given free in the bargain!

Don’t be poor in spirit! Please cast off those chains!

Hurry! Do, come and join His Train!

Tints of Poignant Flavour….

Flavourful life

Flavours come in coloured tints,
Likewise emotions leave imprints,

They leave taste of euphoric dopamine,
Especially then, when you were mine,

They leave a taste of not so bright,
When everything is just not right,

A dash of joy, of peace, of faith, of hope and patience too!
A pinch of pain, of aches, of sorrow, of fear and trouble too!

With a tint of colour, each lives in our minds,
Always willing to leave something behind,

Of love that died or went away; it leaves a flavour mound,
A poignant taste of things all gone and never to be found!

You left our lives with quite a bang!
You left us behind with a lot of pangs!

On Fiery Banks of Sand…

My view from a 45th floor at Dubai Marina
My view from a 45th floor at Dubai Marina

Though Dubai may sound like Mumbai,

In influence as well as affluence, different they are!

On feisty banks of fiery dynastic sands,

Mighty men bank dynastic dreams and hold their hands!

Where waves of heat, rolls down in sweat,

Here baked in the sand and down your hands!

Built on incessant backs of hardworking peasants,

Who faced from afar seem hard-paced and unpleasant!

Yet behind shrouds of bright coloured rags,

Are found bright eyes like yours and I!

Gigantic, architectural feats dots skyline for miles,

Every mile and feet spots your face in awe and smiles!

Houses are like daring sprouts, hugging the clouds with a lot of clout,

A twinkling feat and an attempt at tickling an Angels feet!

They flower so fast these beaming towers of concrete,

With crescents of moon carved into very fluorescent beam!

Beneath emissions of incandescent beauty,

Belies penchant for pedantic duty!

Flowing robes and thobes of white,

Slack beguiling robes of black and black,

Dots every spot, every crook and nook!

Dazzles and sparkles of gold to be sold

Beckon to you to come and behold!

A mix of the saintly saints and the saintly sinners,

The stoic-faced faces and the sunny-side faces,

A potpourri of cosmopolitan, metropolitan lifestyles

Mingle in this restless, sleepless city for miles and miles,

Resplendent in the banks of feisty, fiery miles of sand!
