Rivers Of Blood…

Image result for images of Nigeria flag crying

Rivers of pain

swim deep in her eyes

each droplet of tear

a raw testimony of anguish

that words fail to capture.

Rivers of blood

flow down her tributaries

for every slain soul

a Country torn with genocide

bloodletting too much to comprehend

Mountains of prayers

offered up

Chineke, Kabiyesi, Jehovah

forgive us

Mercy we seek, solace we plead.

My home Country Nigeria groans in pain under poor leadership. When evil men occupy spaces where they shouldn’t, strife and anarchy reign supreme. The sufferings and gnashing of teeth of Nigerian indigenes keeps multiplying by the day due to the recycling of avaricious, deeply corrupt, mean-spirited and small-minded old politicians. I pray for the revival of my Nation. I pray for a revolution and restoration.

Naive…

Image result for government images

she laughs
at the naivety
and the smallness
of their minds

they think that
vampires only walk
and feed
in the dark

in broad daylight
these beautiful monsters
blend seamlessly
into the crowd

We shouldn’t be shocked when government administrations do things that are reprehensible even in the name of God. When the handwriting is on the wall and we choose to close our eyes to the signs, we simply unleash wickedness in high places. When you vote, vote with your conscience. Search your heart for the truth.

One shot, Two shots…

firearm, revolver, bullets, gun, shooting

one shot,

two shots,

three shots

… twenty more

target is down,

and he’s stone cold dead.

A life is lost,

a son is gone,

a brother is taken,

a husband is no more,

a father is killed,

a friend is dead

the list goes on…

To them,

he’s just another

disposable black man.

His phone,

a weapon

that struck fear

in their hearts.

How is it that a black man can be killed in his own backyard where even his phone is mistaken as a weapon. He’s riddled with enough bullets to take a small army, yet serial killers get taken peacefully, living at the expense of taxpayers and they get to have their day in court?

America, you are pathetic!

weapon, gun violence, mass shooting, America, Poetry

Please save your thoughts and prayers
for they no longer count

These empty thoughts and prayers
only exacerbates the mind

Please keep the gun barrels rolling
for they are worth more than children’s lives

Lives you proclaim to value in the womb
yet assaulted for the price of ridiculous guns

⋅⋅

Can you hear the silent cries of little children
hidden in cupboards, under desks and mortified in fear

There’s so much blood flowing freely
leaving stains that no one can ever mop up

Yet you stand on your podiums
and proclaim non-existent freedom and rights

where are the rights of these young ones
who can never go home anymore?

Just a Thought

If all parents claim to be great and the best parents, just where do their children learn all the ugly attitudes?

Image result for images of thinking

This recent video below left this thought on my mind. As a parent, I know that children may still end up doing what they want and exhibiting certain individual traits that would probably drive their parents crazy, I however strongly believe that nurture greatly shapes a child.

This lady is shaping her son to grow up as a racist. Apparently, his health is the least of her priorities since she chose racism over that.

Just Who Are We Fooling? Just a thought.

Image result for images of peace

We write we talk, we meet and we tweet
we call each other ugly names in moments of madness
we select a handful to make scapegoats out of the terrorist gangs
and impose bans and policies that are simply laughable

BECAUSE after all is said and tweets of hashtags and empty moments of silence

We go ahead and sign billions of dollars for arms and ammunitions – with those who breed terrorists with great delight – only to propagate more wars.

Just who are we fooling?

OUR leaders are responsible for these reproachable acts of terrorism. They are all owned by these billion dollars manufacturing plants for armament.

They vicariously feed terrorism through their greed to line their own pockets with filthy riches and at the expense of innocent citizens.

These terrorists get their arms for their dastardly acts from somewhere, it’s a vicious ugly cycle.

I am tired of having my thoughts bombarded each week by one form of terrorist attack or the other.

Until we start holding our leaders truly accountable and stop worshipping parties and their money, we will never get it right. Peace is not the absence of war, but the good sense not to propagate it.

Who is your leader in bed with?

Today, my thoughts are with London. Peace.

Just A Thought

Today, we live in a culture where we horde Instagram followers, Twitter followers, YouTube Followers, Facebook likers, etc. It does seem as if the perception of our real lives being anything less than perfect has become a daunting notion for most.

The glossy instagrammizing and Facebookification of our lives can create a dangerous facade of success that harms those who fall prey to such peripheral endorsements.

Someone I know well has been telling fibs on Facebook about their lives. Hmm! :/

Two little thoughts…

Image result for a row of tweet birds

One Thought: I guess if I am asked whether I am on Twitter I will nod my response with vigour, but for the life of me, sometimes, I am as obtuse as ever on what goes on there.

I like, retweet, follow and whatever else.  I also like seeing the little hearts. However, I can’t begin to imagine why I need to buy other people to follow me as per some of the ridiculous offers that I receive. Follow me to where please if I may ask?

My silliness can get into overdrive as I have a visual picture of a long line of tweety birds matching behind me with their lips pursed in a tweety whistle while I blow my follow me pipe.
…and the other thought:  I see a lot of books with reviews claiming award winning this and award winning that. Are these badges given for free?

Recently, I tried reading a badly written – whatever award it won – book, thankfully it was online otherwise my peeve would have made me fling it out of the window.

It was not a bad storyline, but the poor grammatical construction and typos nearly gave me a headache and bad eyesight.

Over to you. What’s you little thought for the day?

Why Are Humans So Careless?

I walk by these waters often enough to catch occasional sights that cause me to pause in my steps and wonder at the human attitude.

The surface of the water has a film of dark oil residue that glistens and I presume it comes from boats and I am certain that it’s not the best for marine life – then again, what do I know.

The second photo is a can of empty 7-up perched by the water. The slightest blow of breeze will certainly cause the can to tip over and into the water.

The third photo which was taken on a different day is about those who I describe in my mind as the ‘unseen one’s.’ These men go about in their boats taking out the trash that people carelessly toss into the water. I’ve seen the horrifying amount of rubbish that they pull out of the water and can’t help but wonder what the situation would be like if these unseen ones’ were not there in the background clearing filth?

The sad part is that there are visible trash collectors every few meters along the track, yet humans are far too inconsiderate to dispose of their trash in the right manner.

The interesting thing is, if you ask the next man if he cares about the environment and marine life, he would say ‘of course, I do,’ but he can’t be bothered to walk a few meters to dispose of his garbage appropriately.

It bothers me. What about you?

I am not a tree hugger, but an ordinary person who loves nature. Forget the first part of this sentence. Yes, I’m a tree hugger.

You Are Banished! Go To Your Room 101!…Ranting

What a delightful way to cast my baleful eyes and vent at some poorly behaved humans while having fun doing it as well.room-101-blog-award

Thank you my dear Amanpan for your generous  invitation.

Now, I don’t have to feel bad for using my imperial power of thinking to banish some people 😉

Here are my nominees:

Sabiscuit

Fun simplicity

Azul

Edwina

Element healing

I have a tidy list of offenders that I would like to banish to their room, but I will just stick to five as specified.

  • That ungentlemanly behaved fellow that traveled up the 43rd floor with me, on a lift that stopped on every floor. He was ‘Chewing gum so loudly’ and blowing the bubbles like a total ass. I love to chew gum but not in a clackety clack manner, right in someone’s face. I felt like taking the gum and sealing his lips for just a few seconds, but only managed to give him a malevolent look 😉
  • Loud phone calls in public. I love people watching quite alright and eavesdropping occasionally, but for the life of me, I don’t want to know everything about your life that you must have your entire conversation right in my ears in your loud voice. Save the quarrel for when you get home or wherever it is. I sat in the bus beside a lady and my bus ride which was taken as a pleasure to Deira market turned into a cacophony of hisses and heated argument of a lady and whoever it was at the other end for a whole 45 minutes and unfortunately, I did not have my headphones with me.
  • Can you make up your mind? Keeping everyone else waiting while you dash off to get the tomatoes, then the milk, then the stick of butter, then a loaf of bread. Geez! Make a shopping list please.
  • The man blocking the plane aisle with his over-sized carry on which cannot fit and we all have to queue behind him whilst he tries to squash it in by force, with all the extras that he has as well. What happened to checking it in?
  • I know it seems the in-thing these days, but for the love of heaven, can that lady with the need to show some extra cleavage cover up a bit more of those mammary glands and young man, by the way, I don’t think I want to see your butt-crack either. Thank you very much.

I would have loved to continue, but I have to stop now. That guy that leaves his sweat all over the machines in the gym drives me crazy 😉

Here are the rules:

  1. Thank the blogger that nominated you.
  2. Award 5 bloggers who fascinate, intrigue or tickle your curiosity with the Room 101 (award) badge logo on their About pages and linking to them in your post.
  3. Tell us the 5 things you would banish to Room 101!
  4. Attach these rules to your post.
  5. Grab your badge above and enjoy adding it to your trophy case, but please be respectful of the creator of the award by never altering the logo and never changing the rules.

Enjoy the rant.
