Solitude…Every day beautiful people # 50

“Sometimes I like to be left alone. Not because I’m angry, not because I’m sad, simply because I need solitude.”Brigitte Nicole

Solitude

Sometimes, you just want that solace that can be found in the silence of being alone.

You want it, just to be quiet, to mull things over and to hear clearly.

Silence is golden when savoured and solitude is not loneliness.

Out of the silent breath

Never leave me lonely

With words left unsaid

You walk away into the dark

Like a mist, that melts away.

When society turns away it’s eye’s, many unfortunate souls fall through the cracks of life’s pavement.

Sometimes, their situation may not be due to their fault, but as a result of poor governance, social strata, and displacement.

Indeed, some may have taken the wrong turn and don’t have the inner strength to pull out of the miry bog they’ve found themselves in.

Let’s not be hasty in judgement and assumption that all who are down and out, are lazy or doing drugs. That’s being misinformed. I know places where some humans are so poor that they can barely afford a meal a day, talkless of doing drugs.

The essence of communities is so that we can break bread together.

One of my greatest aspirations is to have a foundation positively geared to assist those who don’t have food to eat. Have you ever seen a smile on that hungry face who least expected that piece of sandwich? It’s beautiful.

I may not be able to change the World single-handedly, but together, we can do more if we are willing.

Dead and gone! Long live chivalry…

To my younger unassuming self
I have no apologies to tender for my past mistakes.

Maybe I could have done things differently if I had been wiser
maybe I would have been able to escape

a couple of raps from Life’s school of hard knocks
but looking back right now,
could I’ve been better, I’m quite doubtful?

For we are only as wise as we know
Could things have gone differently?

Maybe, who knows. It no longer matters. What matters is now.
For life happens and all that happened

did when I was busy making other plans.
Now to you, dear older me, get on with it while you can
and squeeze the last droplet of juice out of those lemons!

Your World and mine would probably be a much better place when people are more empathetic and apologetic for their mistakes.

An apology is a balm offered to soothe agitated nerves and calms ruffled feathers, yet these three simple words of remorse “I am sorry” can be so difficult for some humans to express.

Their belief is that tendering an apology is a sign of weakness, whereas the reverse is the case.

To apologise shows maturity and the ability to take ownership and responsibility.

It doesn’t strip the peace-keeper of his over-sized sense of ego, nor will it cause any drastic changes in his physical anatomy; tongue-in-cheek.

Note that I use ‘his’ in this instance. My apologies to the menfolk, but experience and history has shown that most men are slow to accept their faults, to apologize and diffuse tension. The chauvinistic drive in a good number of them can be incredulous.

They are more bent on arguing blindly just to hear themselves and to flex their muscles. Indeed, many disastrous incidents have happened due to mule-headedness and oversized egos.

That’s not to say that there are no stubborn females out there, but I dare say that the ratio is far less than the opposite sex.

To apologize comes very easily to a lot of women I know. For the benefit of doubt, I’m not a feminist in that sense of the word of let’s burn our bras and chuck out the sizzling red hot high heels; I really like my red heels and to me, being strongly feminine, is being comfortable in the skin and gender that nature gave me, without being objectified as a sex object.

I don’t believe in sweating the small stuff and bearing unnecessary grudges. This weighs down the burden bearer and as far as I’m concerned, I have enough to carry on my shoulders without adding the extra guilt of not saying and meaning these three words “I am sorry,” to that woman whose toes I might have crushed in the crowd or the one whose backside I ran into with a shopping cart, when I turned the shopping aisle into my driveway.

Nope! The young man who wanted to reshape my African backside never said sorry.

He just merrily continued his one-hand drive of his trolley and scrolling down his phone after a mere cursory glance in my direction.

Chivalry has become extinct as we speak. Long live chivalry.

Apology, Discover Challenge.

Accidental…Friday fiction in five sentences.

Her parallel parking had never been good even at it’s best, but Susie loves her cute  car and would never accept that she sucked at driving.

Struggling to squeeze into the little space, the scrunching sound of metal bumping into the other drew her attention to yet another mishap.

She nimbly got out to take a look, the annoyed man in the truck, unfolded his large self and stepped out to blister her ears.

Accepting her profuse apologies, he admired her smallness and attractive looks, while they settled their differences over a cup of coffee.

Five years later, Brad prefers to drive his Susie and their three young babies. She still sucks at parking.

P.S. inspired by the lady whom I saw yesterday, doing a rigmarole as she tried to park 😉

appreciation · Personal · This Is My Life

I did nothing!…personal

It’s a Friday morning this way and it’s the weekend already in the Middle Eastern World.

I write this with a lot of appreciation. It doesn’t take much to make me happy or to make me cry *tears of joy and maybe sadness too*

I scrolled through my comments and saw Tanya, Post Prodigal and Beth’s – Nutsrok’s comments:

Just got your book from Amazon. Will be starting it tonight!  From Beth

Thank you, Jackie. I’m still reading and loving your book of poems, btw. I’ll post a review on Amazon when I am done. It just blesses me! From Tanya

and the tears pooled in my eyes. Yes! I can be emotional, but that’s who I am.

I did nothing to deserve the show of kindness that I’ve received in this place.

I did nothing to receive the amount of care that I receive in this place.

I did nothing… Not one thing…

You did it all…and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

You may not understand…

when someone is walking out of the valley of fear,

of deeply incinerated scars and doubts, reaching for the light…

a little shine of light is so much hope.

I wrote my poetry book from my heart and I’ve never thought that it would interest anyone. I couldn’t even afford professional editing.

I wrote it for me. To help me deal with some experiences and pain that life brought my way yet, several friends have reached out to me to express how the words have touched them that I have to go and read them again myself…

Publishing it was just a step up, to tell myself that “yes I can!
…and I said to myself, Jacqueline, if even 5 people buy this book, then consider yourself blessed…

It sold 5, then 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12…..19 and counting

Thank you, my dear friends. Thank God.

I have friends in high places and it’s YOU!

It’s always interesting to listen to people define ‘who they are’ by the pigment of their skin.

The pigment of your skin is simply aesthetics. The who you are is the being that resides behind the skin.

If you wish to understand a bit more, consider the thought of stripping yourself bare as a child, with no thought of colour and with an open mind of a receptive adult. Who do you see beneath your skin?

In our World, there are no doubts that the colour of our skin determines a lot with respect to our social strata…that’s an entirely different topic, but we shouldn’t let the colour of our skin determine who we really are, how far or how low we can reach in our lives.

The more you know yourself, the more you broaden your horizons.

The Daily Post

Broody or moody…

Pensive is an upper-class word that means reflective
another way to say that you are introspective
or maybe a bit ruminative

Whatever stokes your senses to be cogitative
it’s all good to be perceptive
though some prefer to call it meditative.

Some writers love to use grandiose words like stamp duty
a pensive man they would describe as broody
which makes him sound more intense than moody

…and excuses his behaviour that might be kooky
especially in those romantic books that are juicy
or those paranormal stories that tend to be spooky

Of late I have been a bit pensive
a gamut of thoughts run through my head making me restive
I need to sort them and get progressive.
