It’s always interesting to listen to people define ‘who they are’ by the pigment of their skin.
The pigment of your skin is simply aesthetics. The who you are is the being that resides behind the skin.
If you wish to understand a bit more, consider the thought of stripping yourself bare as a child, with no thought of colour and with an open mind of a receptive adult. Who do you see beneath your skin?
In our World, there are no doubts that the colour of our skin determines a lot with respect to our social strata…that’s an entirely different topic, but we shouldn’t let the colour of our skin determine who we really are, how far or how low we can reach in our lives.
The more you know yourself, the more you broaden your horizons.

Below is my first just published Poetry Book “Out of the silent breath” which is available on Amazon and Smashwords.
When you buy my book, you support me in an invaluable manner.
I hear you in my thoughts…
Your words of wisdom,
of love and encouragement…
They are etched upon my soul.
They keep me warm.

*an excerpt from my poem*
Judge us not by the color of our skin but the content of our character…Boy, can I relate to your post. I have become tired. It’s a daily struggle. I once could ignore discrimination but today it is just fatiguing. Since reading ” Lies My Teacher Told Me,” I feel as if I am becoming jaded. I hope that’s not the case. Thanks for your self-expression. You touch my soul.

Thank you, Mo. It’s so unfortunate and sad how society tries to put us all into neat boxes, with labels and we are not meant to think differently. Thank God that we’ve not lost our voices.

How generous and thoughtful of you Eric. I hope it will be worth your while. I still feel shy about it, especially knowing that I couldn’t afford to edit it professionally. Have a great weekend.

Simple biology. Pigment = melanin.. purpose to protect skin. Others all human beings are the same.. unquie but one global family.. brothers and sisters. We have forgotten our truth as a spirit and we think we are something we are not. Fear leads to division lack of understanding leads to division …do we say i body or do we say my body…. we r much more …but we fight with one another for we have forgotten i am a soul my nature is peace… we are all souls…

Thank you for saying this. We are souls and it does seem we tend to forget that far too often.

I was really glad when Obama became president!! I think it should have a profound effect on what people think is possible. Now if only we can get a woman in there…
