Blood On Her Hands…

She sat rocking herself in the corner.

She knew that soon they would come to take her away, but she could hardly find the nerves to run and hide. She was too tired and just wanted to sleep for ages.

For years and years, she had withstood it.

At first she told herself that she had to stay for the children.

Then she grew afraid to go anywhere.

Then she became a nervous wreck, got sick and disgusted with her life.

Then she lost her job and had no money.

Then she lost all her friends.

Then she became totally dependent on him.

Then the berating, the beatings, the cycle of maltreatment got more vicious.

He made the mistake of pointing the gun at her head but failing to shoot.

That was his weapon of choice. To scare her out of her wits with the gun amused him a lot.

Now, he could do it no more. She shot him with the gun that had taunted her for ages right in the back of his head.

It was point blank Bulls Eye. The beginners luck.

Blogging Like Nature #1…

Blogging can be likened to fishing.

You cast your line with a bait and hope.

Patiently you sit and wait, praying to catch a fry.

I’ll suggest you take some music and a flask of warm drink.

It will make the waiting period pass more pleasurably 🙂

To the glorious Heavens I look,
The abundance of Above
Is a Free Gift to all
Who look up
To See

…And The Eight Cardinal Award Goes To…

Maybe when the seven Cardinal sins was written, ‘selfishness’ had not yet become a cancerous problem that is gradually eating it’s way into the backbone of societal values.

Maybe back then, the sense of Community, empathy and being your brother’s keeper was far more in abundance and the syndrome of eating your cake, other people’s cake and having it, had far more reaching repercussions than today, when for very little selfish reasons, a young man would go on a shooting spree.

Even the seven that were written eons ago are now looked upon as old-fashioned, in a syndrome of our present generation that suffers from acute self gratification of the ‘Me, Myself and I alone and the entire World can go to Hell in a hand basket.’

Who knows? If they could possibly re-write it, they should add Selfishness with a promise of Extra dose of Hell-Fire, Brimstone and Iodine for cleaning the burnt sores, that might result in having less selfish humans on Earth.

The Daily Post The Eight Sin

Remember the seven cardinal sins? You’re given the serious task of adding a new one to the list — another trait or behavior you find particularly unacceptable, for whatever reason. What’s sin #8 for you? Why?

(Hat tip to 99 Problems and Done for suggesting a deadly sin-themed prompt!)

An Averted Anxiety Moment…Streams Of Consciousness Saturday.

Today is one of those days. I woke up with AN anxious pressing of thoughts, yet my mind was scattered to the four winds and I initially could not pin down what it was that caused the pressing niggles.socs-badge-2015

It was such that I felt like not doing anything but just crawling between the sheets and allowing the thoughts marinate and vacillate.

This was not the ‘I am feeling lazy today thoughts,’ rather, it was more like the ‘let me stew in some unknown worry and annoyance thought.’

However, I knew the fore-warnings and the possible resultant effects of such marinating. I would gradually spiral into a ball of anxious worry wart and by the end of the day, the snappy, stressed dragon will start showing it’s ugly face and it just goes downhill.

So I had to actively decide to turn my ANxiety moment into an active moment and I did just three things before the emotional waves came into balance.

These are the three simple things that I did:

  • I prayed briefly with my children.
  • I dragged on my exercising clothes and lazily sweated out for an hour and twenty minutes.
  • After the sweating, I sat in my thinking corner and turned to piece my thoughts apart to try and put my fingers on the niggles. Some thoughts were dealt with and resolved as quickly as a phone call. Other thoughts were written down and turned into action points to be resolved at assigned specific times.

Doing these three things decompressed my mind. I found myself back to a balanced tandem and my day continued on a good note.

Those moments of ANxiety can possibly be turned into moments of ANswers, but it takes a lot of conscious effort to deal with it.

I have learnt over time, that putting pressing thoughts or issues off or pushing them under the rug does not make them go away, rather the rug only gets higher.

This is my first post in relation Stream of Consciousness challenge and we Linda has asked us to use ‘an’ for today’s prompt.

The Pearls…Friday Fiction In Five Sentences.

Lovingly he fingered the delicate pearls clasped around her neck.

At first, they belonged to his grandmother, who passed them to his mother and she passed them to his wife.

She looked beautiful as she lay so still, just as though she slept.

With trembling fingers and a heavy heart, he unhooked the beautiful strand of
pearls that has been worn by the women in his family for ages.

He knew that she loved them very much and would want their little girl to inherit it when she comes of age.

Yay! My First Poetry Vlog 1… Please don’t throw tomatoes or your shoes at me ;)

♥ Love Rations ♥

When you batter me with the whip lash of your looks
And the coldness of your words,
My heart and soul shrivels from the lack of warmth.

As the icicles that drips from your eyes
Pierce my veins and leaves them frozen.

Your deliberate silence and denial
A negligence to my needs.

Your withdrawal of your love at will
Causes a ponder of thoughts.

If love is a chip to bargain with,
And we play chess with our hearts,
To determine who wins this game of shooting the darts.

Should your love be doled out in rations,
Dependent on my emotional engagement,
Or your emotional intelligence of the moment?

Taunting me with fast promises,
That fails to feel full.
Always leaving me with the need for some more.
