Boost Your Energy Levels and Boost Your Health

We all lead busy lives. And even on from that, we can all make excuses not to take care of ourselves as much as we should. We justify that we’re busy or that we’re not able to go to the gym or we just had to grab a takeout. But then, should we be surprised if we find ourselves feeling sluggish, tired, and generally low? At this time of year, a lower immune system can be rather obvious. So here are some things that you can do to make sure that you keep your energy levels up to feel happy, healthy, and strong.

Tired, Stressed, Fatigue, Boost Your Energy Levels

Eat More Magnesium Based Foods

We all know that we need to eat a balanced diet to stay at a healthy weight or even to lose weight. For energy, a healthy diet is of paramount importance too. But what does that really mean? One of the nutrients that we need to make sure that we are getting plenty of is magnesium. It can really play a part in giving our energy levels a boost. It has been found that if you’re deficient in magnesium, your body has to work harder to function normally, which in turn, will use up a lot of energy. So make sure that foods like almonds cashews, fish, and whole grains feature regularly in your diet.

Move More

It might sound ridiculous, but moving more can actually help you to feel like you have more energy. It isn’t necessarily anything like a five-mile run or a weights session. But a walk around the block or to the park and back could be just what you need. It will lift your mood and make you feel invigorated and refreshed, rather than feeling low and lethargic.

Reduce Stress

If you are feeling stressed, then it can naturally drain you of energy. It can be often as a result of anxiety, which can really zap the energy out of you. It can leave you feeling physically exhausted as well as mentally exhausted. And if left to spiral out of control, then it could trigger other things like depression or bipolar, as mentioned by the site Bipolar Lives. So you need to be monitoring things closely to see how you react to it all. Timeout, exercise, therapy, and dealing with the stressors head on can all help. So, find out what works for you and then go from there.

Avoid Sugar

When you feel tired, then it can be tempting to reach for a bag of candy or some chocolate. These things will give you a short burst of energy (well, a boost in your blood sugar). But after that, it will leave you feeling more tired than you ever were before. So refined sugar, and processed foods, in general, should just be avoided. Keeping your blood sugar level steady will be what helps you to feel energetic and have a steady burst of energy.

Is there anything that you find helps you to stay on top of our energy levels or gives them a boost?

Make Health An Effortless Part Of Your Lifestyle

Everyone wants to be healthy and happy, but many people go about it the wrong way. Instead of focusing on making health into a natural and effortless part of their every-day lifestyle, they try to use sheer willpower to force themselves through different, painful practices that they’ll sooner or later be tempted to quit.

But people are driven more by habit than by incredible efforts of will. Here’s a look at how to introduce some good, healthy habits into your life starting today.

Get physically active every day

Setting yourself the goal of spending an hour in the gym every day may work for a while, but there’ll be the inevitable day when you find yourself too busy, too tired, or just too distracted to follow through.

Instead of setting yourself a specific exercise goal, set yourself the goal of being physically active every day. This can mean anything from taking a short walk to jogging on the spot to going to the gym for 3 hours or running a marathon — though if you’re running a lot, you might want to click here for some good anti-blister supplies.

The key is that it’s an easy habit to stick with every day, even when you don’t feel like it. Being physically active in one way will also make you feel motivated to be more physically active in general.

Prepare all your food from scratch

People argue a lot about different diet styles, and which one might be the best. One thing that all experts and scientists agree on, though, is that processed food is by and large terribly unhealthy, filled with potentially harmful additives, and at the heart of many modern health problems.

An excellent health-habit is to cut out all processed foods — anything you buy “ready-made” — and to prepare all your own food from scratch. That way you’ll know whether or not there’s a teaspoon of sugar in your dish, instead of being tricked into eating large amounts of toxic high-fructose corn syrup.

Eat foods that leave you feeling energetic

Energy is one of the most important things for good overall health, because the more energetic we feel, the more active we’re likely to be, physically and mentally, and the happier as well.

If you find that you’re always falling asleep right after each meal, this not only means that you probably struggle to be productive and positive each day, but it also means that your food is too heavy on your body and is taking a lot of energy to digest.

Save the heavy meals for special occasions, and try to eat foods that leave you feeling energetic on a daily basis, instead of ones that seem to drain your energy.

Read something uplifting every day

The mind is just as important as the body when it comes to health, and like the body, the mind is affected by the kind of “fuel” we give it.

While the body is fuelled by food and drink, the mind is fuelled by the things you read, say, watch, and hear.

If you want to promote healthy, positive and happy thoughts, it’s essential that you give your mind something positive to reflect on every day. A great place to start is by reading something uplifting every day. This could be an upbeat fable or a real-life story of someone succeeding against the odds.

When Accidents Stop Becoming Accidents

The word “accident” is like a barrel of mysteries. The official definition would describe it as an unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly. However, what if the accident was just brewing up and waiting to happen? Let’s use a simple example: your car. If you own a car that you drive around every day, then isn’t it normal to take your car to a garage for maintenance every few weeks or months? If you don’t, then it will quickly become a dangerous vehicle to drive because the individual parts might start rusting, the damage might lower the performance of your vehicle and your safety might be at risk. If you put it this way, then even though it can be considered an accident to end up in a crash because your brakes stopped working, you could argue that it was your fault.

Let’s admit it, we sometimes let these issues slip out of our minds. Car maintenance is important, but how many of us take our vehicles in for regular checks unless the vehicle is actually broken? Not many. Similarly, how many of us go into a business without realising the potential pitfalls that could cost us a lot of money? If you’re going to get involved with something that puts your health or finances at risk, then it’s important to educate yourself to avoid anything bad happening.

Educate Yourself

Accidents usually happen as a result of neglect or lack of understanding. No matter what you do in life, it pays to prepare yourself. For example, if you’re worried about car accidents, then there are a couple of ways to prepare. For starters, you could get to know personal injury attorneys that are capable of arguing in your corner when you want to seek justice for damages caused. It pays to know local attorneys so that when you do end up in an accident, you have a way to make the entire recovery process simple and efficient.

Another good way to avoid accidents is to prevent them in the first place. Using driving as another example, it’s a good idea to practice defensive driving. Defensive driving courses aren’t expensive and they are perfect for teaching you a couple of extra tips that will ensure your safety whenever you drive a vehicle.

In short, it always pays to study a little extra no matter what you’re doing. Whether it’s running a business, driving a car or renovating your home, you can avoid accidents by using research. Accidents stop becoming accidents when you’re asking for trouble, and getting involved with something that could put your quality life at risk can cause a lot of issues. Educate and prepare yourself to avoid getting into an accident, and always plan ahead so you can quickly remedy the issue. Whether it’s hiring an attorney or using a backup plan, there are always going to be ways to accept accidents and get over them so you can move on and continue with your life.

Make Healthy Food Choices

A healthy diet is one of the most important things in our lives. Choosing low-calorie food options that are high in nutrients ensures our mind and body get all of the right vitamins and minerals that they require to grow and develop correctly. Plus, it means you will be getting plenty of essential nutrients that can help the body overcome various health conditions and allow it to adapt to old age. For instance, if you are a meat-eater, you should cut down on processed meats like sausages and burgers and stick to lean chicken breasts instead.

Think About Your Financial Future

You also need to consider your finances to make sure that they set you up for a strong future. It’s worth buying some life insurance as this will protect your family financially if anything were to happen to you. As this health IQ review shows, active and healthy individuals can benefit from some competitively priced insurance cover from certain companies. It’s also worth saving up for retirement as early as possible to ensure that your finances aren’t stretched once you give up work.

Stay Active

An active life is a healthy life! It is crucial that you continue to be active, even throughout old age. Staying active can help to boost your moods, keep your weight in check, and relieve stress. Don’t worry; you don’t have to start training for marathons or push your body to the edge. Simply walking more is enough to keep you active and healthy. In fact, a thirty-minute brisk walk each day has been shown to prevent a lot of serious health conditions.

Exercise Your Brain

Staying physically active is one thing, but you also need to remember to exercise your brain and mind as well. This will keep your mental health and ability in good shape as you enter into old age. There are various ways you can keep your mind fit and agile. Lots of studies show that one of the best things is to learn a second language. If that sounds like too much hard work to you, you might want to just work on some puzzles in your spare time such as crosswords or Sudoku.

Stay Away From Stress

It can often be easier said than done, but staying away from stress can help you in a lot of different areas of your life. It can reduce blood pressure, help you get a better night’s sleep, and be generally happier!

My Thinking Corner…Care

You’ve got to fall in love again. Fall in love with taking care of yourself; mind, body and soul. Jacqueline

Lifestyle, Well-being, Health, Taking Care of Yourself, Body, Mind, Soul

For the past week, I have been publishing posts on self-care because the plain truth is that when our well-being is out of sync, every other thing in our life suffers.

Time spent taking care of oneself is time well spent. Mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically, we need to stay strong to be more effective and to withstand the consistent onslaught of horrendous stuff and news that life dishes out in spades.

It is not selfish in the least to take away that much needed time to decompress and to maintain a worthy lifestyle. As a matter of fact, it is a selfless act because when you show yourself the much-needed attention and care, you are better positioned to care for those you love.

When we neglect ourselves, the effects trickle down and the interesting thing is that we lose our effectiveness even when we think that we don’t have time to take care of ourselves and do those things that make us happy.

What are you doing today to make a desired and positive change?

  • Take time to enjoy the beauty in the everyday. Get outside and marvel at how amazing nature is, watch the sunset with a loved one or go for a long walk on the beach.

  • Prioritize your health needs. Make sure you get regular dental treatments and that you go to the doctors for health check-ups. Regular trips to the doctors and dentist should mean that any problems are found before they start.

  • Join a dancing class. Going dancing will not only improve your physical health but it will also make you feel great.

  • Eat your greens. Make sure that you are giving your body the best possible start by eating fruit and vegetables on a daily basis. If you aren’t keen on your fruit and vegetables then try it in a smoothie instead.

  • Declutter your house. Living in mess can make us feel stressed. Taking time to declutter the house can be very therapeutic and living in a nice, tidy house can help us feel calm. Marie Kondo has lots of useful tips on decluttering and organizing the house.

  • Pay it forward. Donate anything you don’t need to the thrift store. You are helping others and this is great for your self-esteem!

  • Read a novel. Taking some time to read a novel can help focus the mind and reading is also really good for your mental health. Look on Amazon for their top sellers.

  • Get an early night. Sleep deprivation can cause serious health problems. It can also make us feel sad and we can find that we start craving junk food. Getting an early night will help us feel great and make us happy. Don’t stay up late watching Netflix, get that early night!

  • Unplug and get out. Shut the laptop, put your mobile phone down and get outside. A digital detox is good for all of us and can help us recharge so that we are more productive when it comes to working again.

  • Cuddle a loved one. We all love a good cuddle. Giving a loved one a good squeeze can help reduce stress and even make us feel happy.

By making some small changes we can really make a massive difference to our health and mental wellbeing. It is really important that we stop juggling those balls and show ourselves just how important we are. What small change can you make to your life?

Declutter Your Life – From Your House to Your Friends

Decluttering your life doesn’t just mean tidying up your home. It can also involve getting more organized, and perhaps removing things from your life that take up too much of your time. By decluttering your life, you can clear your mind and your diary, so you have more time and energy to enjoy things. There’s a lot you can do to achieve your goals, from clearing out some of your stuff to reassessing some of your friendships. You should look at all areas of your life critically to work out what needs to change. Perhaps you might even consider becoming a minimalist to make everything more simple.

Get Rid of Clothes You Haven’t Worn In a Year

Decluttering the emotional side of your life can be tricky, so most people probably want to start with something straightforward. If you think you have too much stuff, clearing out your wardrobe is a great task, to begin with. It can be hard to let go of some of your clothes and accessories, but you can soon learn to be strict with yourself. Even if you find yourself struggling to let go of something beautiful, think about whether you’ve actually worn it recently. You might have bought it because you loved it, but if you never wear it, there’s no point keeping it just in case the perfect occasion to wear it suddenly arises.

Sell the Books You’ve Never Read or Won’t Read Again

Another simple thing to clear out is your collection of books. Many people have shelves full of books, and maybe a few piles and boxes on top of that too. If you love books, letting go of any of them can be difficult. However, it’s almost guaranteed that you have some books you’ve never read and aren’t likely to. There will also be some you read and didn’t like, and some you thought we passable but that you probably won’t read again. If you want to make some money from your books, you can hurry over to www.buybackexpress.com/sell-books/ to find out how much you might get for them. Unless you have any valuable copies, selling all your books in one go is often the best way to do it.

Digitize Music and Movies

As technology has improved over the years, we’ve gone through lots of different formats for music and movies. From VHS and vinyl records to Netflix and Spotify, we just don’t consume entertainment in the way we used to. If you have a pile of DVDs or CDs that you no longer use, it could be time for them to go. If you want to keep all your music and movies, though, it’s easy enough to digitize them. Once you have them in a digital format, you can get rid of the physical copies by selling or donating them.

Remove Non-functional Items from Your Life

A good way to clear out your home is to think about whether the things you own have a function. If you want to go for a minimalist approach, everything you own should do something practical. Of course, you might not want to get rid of everything that doesn’t have a specific function. Some things are just sentimental items that you keep because they evoke fond memories. However, it’s a good measure to use if you want to remove non-sentimental items. In addition to thinking about an object’s function, you can consider whether you already have something that does the same thing.

To-Do Check List, Declutter, Efficiency, Organised

Stop Wasting Time on Pointless Chores

Decluttering your life should involve freeing up your time too. There are only so many hours in the day, and you don’t want to waste them doing pointless things. Think about some of the chores you do and whether you do them just because “it’s what you do” or if they serve a purpose. For example, making the bed might make your bed look nicer, but what practical purpose does it have, when you’re only going to mess it up again in the evening? Is there really any point in raking leaves from your lawn? Some chores are necessary, but others not so much.

Organize Your Workspace

Both at home and at work, your desk or any other space you work at can get particularly cluttered. You might think that you know where everything is, but a cluttered space can make your work disorganized. It’s hard to think when there’s too much stuff surrounding you, and you could waste precious time trying to find the things you need. If you declutter and get organized, you might be able to work much more efficiently. Start by clearing everything from the top of your desk and from any drawers too. Sort through it all and find a place for everything, throwing out anything you no longer need. You might have some papers you can digitize, instead of keeping them hidden away somewhere.

Get Rid of “Friends” Who Are Too Negative

Another way to take control of your life is to reassess some of your relationships. It’s important to have friends and family around you, but not all relationships are worth saving. Sometimes, you don’t actually get anything positive out of being friends with someone. Even relationships with family members should end in some circumstances. If there’s anyone in your life that only ever seems to be a drain on you, perhaps it’s time to move on. That’s not to say that you shouldn’t help someone who is going through a tough time and might need you more than you need them for a while. But if you’re always the one giving or being put down, it could be a waste of your energy. Think of what you get out of each of your friendships.

Saying No, No, It's Okay To Say No, Declutter

Learn to Say “No”

Managing your time can be difficult, and it’s often harder if you commit yourself to too many things. People who do this can have trouble saying no, so they end up spending their time doing things they don’t really want to do. If this sounds like you, it’s time to learn how to turn people down firmly but politely. It’s important to remember that you’re not obligated to help people, even if sometimes it feels like you are. And you don’t even have to agree to go out with a friend or visit a family member if you don’t want to. Don’t worry too much about being rude. It’s easy to politely turn down a request with “Sorry, I’m busy,” or “Maybe next time,” or perhaps even “I’m not interested, thanks.”

Give Your Life More Structure

If there seems to be too much going on in your life or you always feel disorganized, a bit more structure could help you. Developing a routine can be a good idea to help you be more productive while reducing the amount of chaos it feels like you have in your life. If you want to get on top of everything, making a list of all your commitments and obligations can help you get started. You can then plan out your time, and perhaps think about whether you might be able to drop some of your commitments. Create a weekly calendar or diary to follow and display it somewhere you can easily see it.

Create New Organizational Habits

If you want to make your life less cluttered, just having one big organizing session isn’t going to fix everything. You need to get into better habits if you want everything to stay organized. For example, once you have organized your desk, you should set some rules for what you’re going to do with any important papers from now on. If you’re going to go through your mail, make sure you have enough time to do it and then you know what you’re going to do with different types of letter.

Change Your Approach to Material Items

Once you’ve cleared your home, so there’s less clutter, you need to avoid cluttering it up again. One of the best things you can do is change how you think about material items and each purchase that you make. Before you buy anything, you should ask yourself if you really need it. Much of the time, the answer is that it’s not a necessary purchase, and you might not even end up using it. Rein in your impulse buys and put a bit more consideration into all your purchases.

Keep Up Your Good Habits

Now that you have reassessed your life and home and formed good habits, make sure you don’t fall back to your old tricks. Keep up your new routines and follow the habits you’ve created to keep your life on track. Every now and then, perform another reassessment of what you have in your home, your commitments, and your relationships. Even if you have been paying close attention, you could still find you need to declutter your life again.

Decluttering your life is about more than tidying up. Get organized and stop wasting your time on things that aren’t worth it.

With Bells on Her Toes…fashion is timeless

I find pleasure in visiting the souks because it feeds my literal interest in people watching as well as window shopping at 0% cost which is a major social skill to acquire. For obvious reasons fashion jewelry automatically makes me think of this nursery rhyme:

Three weeks ago some sister friends visited from Nigeria and a visit to Dubai is not complete without going to the gold souk to look at shimmery, jaw-dropping trinkets.

One of them is a fashion entrepreneur who came to restock her merchandise for sale back home and from what I know, the current recession of Nigerian economy hasn’t stopped our women from looking good. They’ve found ways to cheaper alternatives from expensive trinkets as well as fashionable items like sunglasses, bags, wrist watches  all at wholesale prices.

So, I got to take them to the Souk and was their privileged escort for the price of good old-fashioned catching up, a bit of gossip, lots of laughter and street food 🙂

I live in a mega city where it’s not strange to see women dressed in eye-popping finery. Fancy trinkets are all over the place and can become yours at the drop of your plastic. You can go for the high-end fashion to the low-end, it’s your choice.

However, I don’t believe that one should rob the bank in order to own lovely pieces and look good – not all trinkets that glitter is gold. Like every other woman, I love to look chic and trendy. Looking good makes you feel good and you can do so in a thrifty way.

There are smart and efficient ways to acquire cheerful fashionable pieces through wholesale enterprises like wholesale jewelry China.

Tips to consider when purchasing wholesale jewelry

What’s the market cost? Compare prices with parallel vendors

Do you qualify for wholesale purchase? There are online suppliers that will sell single pieces, many overseas vendors sell at wholesale prices.

Negotiate prices, it’s an open market

Don’t be afraid to contact the seller to ask questions for more clarity.

Think of your payment mode – PayPal, Credit/Debit card

Compare shipping, return policies, customer ratings, and feedback comments.

Can your goods be insured?

Educate yourself on how jewelry is made and enjoy the learning.

So, do let me know when you are coming over, I’ll be looking forward to the cup of coffee, some old-fashioned conversation, and window shopping.

Recently, someone told me that they can’t stand unnecessarily good people because they don’t believe that people are that good.

As a matter of fact, they get suspicious when people are good to them.

What a sad way to think :/

I still believe that there are loads of beautiful and good people in today’s World and you are one of them 🙂

Show some meaningless kindness to someone today.

Blessed be.
