You’ve got to fall in love again. Fall in love with taking care of yourself; mind, body and soul. Jacqueline
For the past week, I have been publishing posts on self-care because the plain truth is that when our well-being is out of sync, every other thing in our life suffers.
Time spent taking care of oneself is time well spent. Mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically, we need to stay strong to be more effective and to withstand the consistent onslaught of horrendous stuff and news that life dishes out in spades.
It is not selfish in the least to take away that much needed time to decompress and to maintain a worthy lifestyle. As a matter of fact, it is a selfless act because when you show yourself the much-needed attention and care, you are better positioned to care for those you love.
When we neglect ourselves, the effects trickle down and the interesting thing is that we lose our effectiveness even when we think that we don’t have time to take care of ourselves and do those things that make us happy.
What are you doing today to make a desired and positive change?
Last week I began juicing and started buying different types of vegetables/fruit juices in the juice store near my workplace. Very tasty and healthy.

Yay! I started juicing as well and feel better already as well as less stodgy. Slow jogged as well this morning after such a long time though my knees were creaking all the way đŸ™‚

Thanks. Hopefully I can keep it up. If I can do it 3 times a week I’ll be happy. Walking is my friend. After I snapped my right knee in the gym in 2014 running is not in my game plan.

Another good one. I appreciate the theme. Last night on the elliptical I was listening to a YouTube video of Oprah talking about the difference between being selfish vs being ‘full of herself’. Her definition of being full of herself meant to be all, full, whole, overflowing with the good of who we are. She said she continues to be FULL of her self because this is what allows her to give generously. It really clicked for me. I struggle with ideas about piety and selfishness, especially being American. I don’t like greed and yet I see how women putting themselves last often leads to illness or sadness. Self care leads to a fullness which can allow us to give generously. đŸ’œ

I am going to go search for that video. It sounds like a great listen. Indeed, we must learn to use our wisdom and discern the difference. It’s of paramount importance that we take care of ourselves selflessly or like Oprah put it, to be full of ourselves. We can only give from what we have and when we are empty, there’s nothing to give.

Thanks for the lesson, something we tend to forget in troubled times.

I think there’s a tendency to forget especially women who are always caught up caring for others.
