Zooming By Through The Years….

1456418842941[1]

There are really some days that I wish that time is not an intangible object, but something that could be adjusted to fit one’s purpose through the years.

There are days that my to do list is as tall as my 5 ft 11″ if not taller and there is insufficient time to get it all done in one day. There is so much to do and so little time.

Sometimes I sincerely wish that these years will go at a snail pace, so that I will have enough time to savour those I love through the years.

You wake up in the morning and before you turn around it’s evening and the day has just flown past, which is why the phrase of making hay while the Sun shines never fails to reverberate in my mind.

Even if you refused to make the hay, time will still zoom by and the bales of hay to be made still awaits you.

I can remember when I was a small girl which seems like yesterday, and people in their thirties seemed ancient to me.

I can never forget a would be suitor *arranged marriage* that came seeking for my hand when I was barely 18. He was a doctor in his 30’s residing in Italy and I can still recall my horror at the thought of marrying someone who was possibly my fathers age.

Now, here I am, older, wiser, yet still very young in my head at times.

Sometimes, I do nothing, but just ponder over the essence of time and life.

Would I wake up one day and find that I have been dreaming my life all along?

Ever since my sense of how fast time goes by became acute, I try to make each day count, live in each moment and get the best that I can out of it.

With the conscious reality that the best things in life are for free, the onus rests on me to endeavour to enjoy these best things as much as life makes available to me.

There is no time to spend over inane issues. We can’t stop time, but we can embrace what we have and be the pilot’s of our given moments.

These Musical Chords That Tug My Heartstrings…

Grundig

La Duchesse seems to know all the good buttons to press to get my heart overflowing with good memories.

I grew up on the staple of a plethora of music from a father who adored music.

Our mornings started with music for as long as my dad was alive. Played on the Grundig turntable and then on to Bangs & Olufsen sound system.

I suspected my dad wanted to be a musical maestro and he had a gentle deep baritone.

I love music and barely discriminate except when they are offensive and filled with cuss words.

I love the oldies and the trending ones as well. Most days, I join my children in singing the new songs, especially as we drive around town and I teach them some old ones. We love turning on the radio and just having a go at it.

However, deep in my heart there are those beats that are ‘my forever’ rousing strings of chords. I shall choose 10 out of the string beats of my memories and 6 from recent ones.

They are those beats that I grew up listening to over and over as I grew up in my parents home. Their sounds always transports me right back to the butter yellow house with the red roof.  The house of my childhood.

Midnight Motivation And Musings # 16…

1455885042936[1]

Sometimes, it does seem that once you are on a set path to achieving certain goals, that is when life picks up extra ideas to set all manners of distractions along your way.

It’s however up to you on how you choose to handle the scenarios.

Sometimes, these distractions are those ones that we cannot help and are regarded as ‘life happens.’ In such cases, I always repeat this mantra in my head ‘and this too shall pass,‘ while trying to stay focused and above the water not to get carried away with the current.

Then sometimes, these distractions come by way of other unreliable and pessimistic humans whom we allow into our lives.

I don’t believe in playing nice with anyone whose primary ambition and pleasure is to circumvent my growth. I simply find a corner on my shelf that is dusty and disused and place the person there.

There is simply no time to waste with such wet dampening blankets around you.

Remember, you can choose those who dine on your table and send them forth quickly, but you’ve got to be very mindful about those whom you allow to dine in the inner courts of your heart.
