Together, We Are…Little Lessons From Ants

Lessons from ants, working together, benefits of working together, cooperation, teamwork, nature

Taking a brisk work yesterday morning, I came across a little drama on my path and paused to observe a colony of ant work briskly together to move the dead beetle which must have seemed mammoth-sized in their eyes.

Lessons from ants, working together, benefits of working together, cooperation, teamwork, nature

Several lessons came to my mind from this display of unity:

a. Increased performance: You can’t move that mammoth in your life single-handedly. most times, you need to work in unison with others to achieve major goals.

b. Increased productivity: Working together has assured this colony of good food in their belly for many days to come – I suppose.

c. Knowing more about yourself: collaborating with others helps you to identify your strengths and weak areas and to build on them.

d. Skills development: I could imagine the head of the ant colony giving out instructions as the leader and the others cooperating to get their hustle done – wish I had ears to understand ant whispers 😉

d. Team building and mutual support: no member of the ant team is left hungry. Your journey need not be a solitary one.

As I ruminated on these few points, it buttressed in my mind the fact that every successful person out there enjoyed the support of others. In other for one or a team to excel,  individual members must learn to work well together. They have to be able to put thoughts of their own personal accomplishments aside to work for the benefit of the team which invariably benefits all.

Are there other lessons you can decipher from this act of togetherness?

Everyday People

Team building Works – Everyday people

“Unity is strength...when there’s teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.” Mattie J.T. Stepanek

“Sometimes the most ordinary things can be made extraordinary simply by doing them with the right people.” Nicholas Sparks

Team_building[1]

I met these folks in the photo having a good time as a team. Their whoops and cheerful sounds drew my attention and like I had suspected a member confirmed that they were having their team building activities.

I have always believed in the power of togetherness because you can achieve so much more when you have others with you. An African adage says “when you want to go fast you go alone, but if you wish to go far, you go with others.”

We also say that “a boat will not go forward if each individual is rowing their own way.”

Out of the silent breath

The Daily Post

Piercing the darkness…

Clouds of darkness
hang heavily over the land
its weight keeps the dwellers down
and blinds their vision,
causing them to stumble, to fall
and to lose their way.

…But if you and I agree
to light our little wicks together,
our combined lights will shine so bright,
it will evaporate the dark clouds
and we would find our path
through this darkness, that pervades our land.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it: John 1:5

A lot of us are used to setting off with a task at hand and never completing them. We start all out with zeal, taking leaps, and bounds in days and by the end of the week, month or set time, we’ve backslid so far we can’t even see the frontline where we started from.

Note to self: Try to stay on track by, setting reasonable goals and timelines, setting anticipated steps to get to goals, make a plan for drawbacks and strategy to get back on track when and if we do backslide…like I have a thousand times and make yourself accountable.

Learn to forgive yourself when you fall off, pick up lessons on how and why you fell off the wagon and also take into account making time for rest, recuperation, revving your engine and rebounding back. It’s better to be consistent than bursts of starts and stops that get nowhere.

Sometimes, working with a team of others helps to keep us on track, helps to sharpen our skills and also helps to uplift us when we experience a glitch. Consider team building with others as a way of strengthening your base.

Shalom!

Midnight Motivation and Musings 87

Can you imagine what life would be like if we all encouraged one another to be the best that they can be?

How would it be, if every single soul lit up their lamp of talents and didn’t hide it under a bushel of excuses or discouragement?

I guess absolutely brilliant would be an understatement.

It is commonly said that the graveyard is the richest place with the brightest and untapped talents that are buried and sadly, this is very true.

Let’s keep encouraging those around us to thrive, for we bring about greater good when we do this.

Iron sharpens iron and the energy spent in blowing off someone’s candle is wasted because it won’t make yours shine brighter than it already does.

Out of the silent breath

Never leave me lonely

With words left unsaid

You walk away into the dark

Like a mist, that melts away.

The revengewogger: Breidengale’s blog is a totally inspiring journey of an awesome lady. In her own words below:

Started off wanting revenge in a race against a friend. Turned into getting revenge on my body that attacked me with cancer. Learning to adapt and laugh at the curveballs life has thrown my way while still focusing on running that race next year harder and faster!

ShiVibes: Shihana is a young blogger friend of mine 🙂 In her own words below, she introduces herself. Please show some warm welcome 🙂

Hey there! I am Shihana Nachiya. Eighteen years old Indian girl bought up in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Another lost soul, wandering on this planet, trying to find a purpose in her life.
Words keep buzzing in my head, often leaving me restless.
I’m a dabbler in many things; poet, writer, photographer, bathroom singer, cook and a huge foodie, feminist, voracious reader, a music lover, life enthusiast and a good friend.

Give me a break: Very tenacious Squirrel. This will put a smile on your face for sure 🙂

Finding faith in fear: I truly enjoyed reading Susan’s article. It’s concise, practical and inspiring and here’s my comment.

This is so inspiring and equally practical. Our faith is active and we let go of the fear and trust in the Lord. I like the idea of sitting down and identifying the facts and the root of our fear. That way we get a better grip of it. I enjoyed reading this.

Please do step in and show some love.
