The Daily Post

A View From The Window

I am still trying to figure out what the quality of this photo is that just makes me absolutely love it.

I looked out of the window one evening and there they were; two ladies standing so close together, no other person or vehicles are in sight which is a rarity in this place. I quickly rushed to get my camera for some reason that I still struggle to identify. For one it speaks  ‘support’ to me.

What do you see when you look at this photo?

Anytime I see Eugenia’s tagline phrase ‘whimsical & capricious chatter’ I find myself wearing a smile. BrewNSpew is a blog that I’ve followed for almost as long as I started blogging. I’ve enjoyed dear Eugenia’s bright, witty thoughts and poetry, filled with chuckles and nuggets of wisdom. Whenever I visit, her style of writing reminds me that blogging is meant to be enjoyed, not endured.

She also authors another gem of a blog Thus N Such, and I’ve equally had the pleasure of interviewing her here, please do step in, have a cuppa and leave with a smile 🙂

My girlfriend, Tasha, the author of the blog Steps2Protect, is one gorgeous, smart lady and a beautiful soul. An admirable lady who runs her own safety business.

She’s a champion for personal and family safety and I always find her well thought out articles and recommendations valuable. In today’s world, such information is a need to know.

Please visit and get acquainted.

Kaylaa Blackwell, the lady behind Inspired Beacon is another lady that I admire.

Her tech savvy, business sense,  and resourcefulness are enviable. I am still running after her for an interview in order to get to know this fascinating young lady better.

Let me share a link to one of her uplifting posts and her e-commerce site.

Go feed your eye’s and be inspired.

Beautiful Brenda Baker of Caffeinated Ramblings has been a wonderful support in this space.

Her pretty blog offers delightful visuals and excellent writing that will set your thoughts free while provoking it at the same time.

You can get to know more about Brenda by visiting her about page. I’ve also had the pleasure of interviewing her in my space and would encourage you to visit and get acquainted.

Michelle Malone, a sister, and a friend. The wise woman (I call her that in my mind), runs the blog “Two are better than one.” I always come away from Michelle’s blog enriched from

I always come away from Michelle’s blog enriched from reading posts that have wisdom infused in them.

Her personality and posts always have me singing this song in a part of my mind ‘you’ve got a friend in me’ and interviewing her gave me the pleasure of getting to know this gorgeous lady a bit better.

Thank me later for the connection 😉

When I see Anna’s Gravatar pop up, I just think of a conscientious, gentle and humourous lady and I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing her.

She not only shares from her well of experience with Type 2 Diabetes she shares nuggets of tips and thoughts that gives you a hands-on approach to common issues.

Anna also authors Websaladbar, where she shares snippets of her life outside Diabetes with us.

Lifting Up Taboos shares raw insiders stories of adoption from the angle of an adoptee as well as engaging fiction.

I find some of the articles gut wrenching,  eye opening and informative. A visit would be worth your time.

Author Zone

Author Zone Launching – Bring Your Books

A writers’ journey can be a lonely and arduous trip and the success of a writer is the collective effort of all those who surround him/her.

I know that I am a small time blogger out there but I believe so much in the strength that lies in unity.

It’s been in my heart for quite a while to find ways of contributing, encouraging and promoting my fellow authors around.

Many are struggling to get their works out there and the challenge of breaking into the limelight of traditional publishing is humongous.

We are the only one’s who can attract and drive our own growth in here. Buying and reading bestsellers is brilliant, all well and good, but contributing to lift up a fellow writer in our midst from one level to the next should be our collective care because it matters.

Support your fellow author/artist/writer/blogger. Collaborate with each other to help them grow.

The truth is that purchasing a book from a little-known author barely costs much. If you are buying 3 books a month, pick up one from an author in our midst, the cost is not even up to a cup of coffee at Starbucks, Tim Hortons, London Dairy or where ever it is that you love to get your sweetness.

The idea behind ‘Author Zone,’ is to highlight a number of authors and their books bi-monthly.

If you would like your book highlighted, please feel free to contact me. I would also try to do a review of a book once a month.

Please share this as much as possible to reach as many authors/writers as we can.

Thank you for your support.

Today’s Highlights

Rhymes of the Times

A lighthearted look at life through rhyme

Readers’ review

If you love rhyming poetry, and a bloody good laugh, this book is for you. Short at just 61 pages, you could get through it during a cuppa and I promise you will laugh the whole way through. Martin is a master at rhyme, and also with twists, there were a few poems with unexpected endings, one particular line caught my eye for its clever analogy:

Judy Martin is a gem. A supportive blogger friend and talented writer whose lighthearted look at life through her words make me smile. To get the book, you can check out this link.

Everything Smells Just Like Poke Salad

A Readers’ review

Wonderful tales . . . all connected. Well written. At times poignant . . . at time hilarious. A nice little book that I very much enjoyed reading. Thank you Ms. Bethea for sharing the stories of your family with us.

Linda’s gift of story telling is awesome. You only need to read her words to get a good dose of laughter bubbling in you. To get the book, you can check out this link.

Abundance of Grace

When I was a little girl, we would match to the beat of the school drum in our pinafore’s, singing in our high-pitched staccato voices ‘the day is bright, it’s bright and fair, oh happy day, a day of joy, the day is bright, it’s bright and fair, oh happy day of joy.’

The little girl in me has been humming this song each morning these past few days. Our weather is getting lovelier by the day. It’s no longer a melt in a puddle, burnt to bacon crisp temperature and I am so looking forward to making the best of this season.

The fact that nature blesses us with such respite is totally wonderful and yes, coupled with the fact that finally, I’ve launched my self-hosted blog, I feel light, merry and grateful.

I am fully aware that there are those who have multiple blog babies and quite frankly, I wondered how they kept up with all that and the rest of their lives with ease, but what each day teaches me is that once you set your heart on achieving something and you ask for the grace, it shall come in abundance.

Shall I tell you that my heart is filled with gratitude? Indeed it is! I didn’t expect the amount of support that I’ve received from you – my friends – once I announced that I’ve launched. You are truly an awesome community. Thank you.

When we ask, not only do we receive, but our abundance shall overflow.

Let me introduce you to my new partner Anna.

Let me introduce you to my latest strategic partner, Anna. We connected and have been interacting in the blogosphere for over many months. Anna uses her blogging platform to share her experiences with Type 2  Diabetes  as well as sharing helpful, educative and informative articles on how to manage this independently. I don’t have Diabetes, but I read her posts and find them quite useful and often filled with humourous anecdotes.

I’m urging her to think of writing a little memoir or self-help book of an ordinary woman living with Diabetes 🙂

In her own words on her about page, you can get to know Anna much better. Please do say hello. I am restricting comments here and you could show Anna some love and comment on her blog.

P.S. Would you like to partner with me? You can shoot me an email: or through the contact page on my blog.

Writer's Quote Wednesday

Your Strength – Writers Quote Wednesday Writing Challenge.

You never know much strength you have, until you have put yourself to the task.  Jacqueline

Your strength lies often in your brain
and not just in the brawn,
your strength lies often in your wisdom
and not just in the intellect,
your strength lies often in your diligence
and not just in an attempt,
your strength lies in your tolerance
and never in bigotry;
your strength lies with others
and never just on your own.

I would describe myself as a self-driven and purpose minded person, but sometimes I fall short of my own expectations and possibly the expectation of others as well.

However, I’ve learnt with time that when I partner with others, like my family, colleagues, and friends like you, I achieve far more than I even imagined.

Starting my blog was delayed for years because I felt that I didn’t have enough of what it takes to maintain a blog, but here I am today, plugging away everyday without looking back.

Now I don’t even have enough time in the day to attend to my writing needs due to all other responsibilities that have my name written on them. Nevertheless, I take a moment at a time and apply my best and continue the act of balancing the rest.

I enjoy the prompts for WQWWC. They give me the opportunity to reflect and possibly make my own quote around the topic at hand. You can always join in.

Strength – WQWWC

P.S. Our monthly Meet and Greet/Blog Party comes up this weekend Sat 27th/Sun 28th August. Hope to see you there.

Gratitude · Personal

The state of gratefulness…

With the ups and downs of life, sometimes, it’s difficult for your minds to clinch into a constant state of grace because most times our reflections are on auto drive on picking out the things that may not be going as we wish as against the other blessings that are pebble stones on our path and act as GPS to help us navigate back when we stray down the road of doubt and ingratitude.

Making a conscious decision to express gratefulness has made me more conscious and appreciative of the little things that I ordinarily took as a given and with this comes a greater sense of contentment and peace.

I’m totally grateful for the kindness received from those around me. To Tasha of Hit below the belt hard, I appreciate the slice of carrot cake you bought for me 😉

I’m grateful for the fact that though sometimes I fall short in my responsibilities as a parent and wife, my husband has been doing his best to remain my supportive backbone.

I don’t take these things for granted and I always encourage anyone to practice the state of gratitude not so much for the present state that you are in, but for the journey of the wonderful sense of contentment that it builds in you.

There’s always something to be grateful for and you will probably find so many when you look.

Love and light.

Midnight motivation and musings

Midnight Motivation and Musings 87

Can you imagine what life would be like if we all encouraged one another to be the best that they can be?

How would it be, if every single soul lit up their lamp of talents and didn’t hide it under a bushel of excuses or discouragement?

I guess absolutely brilliant would be an understatement.

It is commonly said that the graveyard is the richest place with the brightest and untapped talents that are buried and sadly, this is very true.

Let’s keep encouraging those around us to thrive, for we bring about greater good when we do this.

Iron sharpens iron and the energy spent in blowing off someone’s candle is wasted because it won’t make yours shine brighter than it already does.

Below is my first Poetry Book “Out of the silent breath” which is available on Amazon and Smashwords.

Out of the silent breath

Never leave me lonely

With words left unsaid

You walk away into the dark

Like a mist, that melts away.

You’ve got to meet graceful Yentl of Younfolded.

Today, I have beautiful Nena telling us a bit more about herself and giving us a peek into her World.

She’s one of the encouraging and refreshing voices that I’ve met in this space. I enjoy her posts on showing simple ways of how we can be kind to each other as well her health and wellness posts.

Thank you, Nena for sharing a bit about you with us.

Hi! My name is Yentl (like the Barbara Streisand movie), but close friends and family call me Nena so I like for my blogging family to call me that as well.IMG_5787

Nena is a term of endearment in Spanish and it means “baby girl” and although I am a woman in her early 30s there is a sense of warmth every time I hear my nickname.

I was born and raised and still live in hot, sunny, and very humid Miami, Florida. If you haven’t guessed it already I am Latina and speak English and Spanish fluently. My dad is from Venezuela and my mom from Guatemala; two very distinct and beautiful cultures.

I like cooking healthy (and sometimes not so healthy) meals, staying active, exploring my world via traveling and reading, and expressing myself through writing and connecting with others.

I dislike criticism, judgments, and insults that break others down. We go through enough pain and despair in our lives so there is no room for hurtful words from people that don’t know any better.

For this reason, I try to always uplift those around me even if it’s through using simple, positive words like, “You are appreciated” so that they come to see their own worth.

My husband had been telling me for years to start a blog or YouTube channel mainly because of all the different hairstyles that I would do and also to share my nutrition knowledge.

I was hesitant because I was passionate about more than just nutrition and hair. I wanted to inspire and uplift others so when I started the blog it was more about unfolding bits of myself to promote self-discovery and self-love.

That is where the name YOUnfolded comes from.

I fell in love with blogging because of the supportive community. One of my fears with YouTube was all the competition that you see amongst vloggers so I was a bit apprehensive about what I was getting into with blogging. But I am so happy to have taken the plunge!

When I received my first like on my very first post “How Could I Forget?” I was elated!

It felt good to express myself and share info that could be helpful to others. Now I can’t wait to sit down and write up my recipes like The Pumpkin Soup that was a hit with my loved ones, my weekly workouts on my Move It Monday posts, and get my creative juices flowing when I write expressively like I have been doing for my Pet Series.

My favorite is when I get to showcase some of you lovely bloggers in my Pay It Forward Friday posts as a way to demonstrate my appreciation for all that you do.

I also started a YouTube channel to finally do some hair tutorials and decided to do them bare-faced (no makeup) to continue to promote self-love and the beauty of simply being YOU. Watch Younfolded on YouTube.

Lately, I have been waking up at 8am with just enough time to get up, brush my teeth, take my girls (dogs) out, get dressed, and start work at 8:30 am.

I work from home, but I am on a schedule (currently it is 8:30am – 5pm) and don’t have a lot of free time. I am a dietitian and I work as a health coach where I provide nutrition counseling to people over the phone.

I mainly make calls back to back and my lunch break consists of 30 minutes of eating in front of a Netflix show with my hubby.

After work, I clean (I use my cleaning schedule : ) take the girls out again, and work out. My hubby is usually the main cook in the house, but sometimes if he’s still working I cook dinner. Dinner is also in front of the TV watching one of our fave shows.

Once dinner is done, I take care of any pending things like taking a webinar for continuing education for my dietitian/nutrition license, shooting pics or videos for either my site or my husband’s work, writing posts, catching up with friends or family. Then it’s time for a shower and bedtime (around 11pm-12am).

I recently moved my WordPress hosted blog to a self-hosted one because I wanted to try to generate some income from it. My original plan to support and encourage others remains the same.

I found myself spending a lot of time putting together things for the blog, brainstorming ideas, and promoting companies whose products I have been using and truly believe in. I figured that it would be great to gain even just a bit of income from the free advertisement I am already providing to various companies out there to keep the blog running because, as most of you know, it is not free to have a .com without the word “WordPress” in there and it takes time to put together content.

With my already busy schedule, blogging and doing YouTube videos feel like a part-time job so why not make a bit of money doing something I love and dedicate a lot of time to.

I have plans to continue to provide content in each of the categories on my blog that will hopefully inspire others to take care of their entire well-being; whether it’s through nutrition, fitness, fun, or relaxing, as long as they find joy and fulfillment from within.

When you buy my book, you support me in an invaluable manner.
