12 Ways To Take Better Care of Yourself

Do you ever forget to take care of yourself? We are all so busy rushing from A to B that sometimes finding the time to take proper care of ourselves can seem impossible. Being so focussed on the big goals can mean that we often forget to take care of the little things. We need to make sure that we are looking after our physical, mental and health wellbeing. If we don’t take time to care for ourselves we can end up exhausted and running on empty. Taking better care of ourselves today, will help us in the long run. Here are 12 ways you can help yourself.

  • Take time to enjoy the beauty in the everyday. Get outside and marvel at how amazing nature is, watch the sunset with a loved one or go for a long walk on the beach.

  • Prioritize your health needs. Make sure you get regular dental treatments and that you go to the doctors for health check-ups. Regular trips to the doctors and dentist should mean that any problems are found before they start.

  • Join a dancing class. Going dancing will not only improve your physical health but it will also make you feel great.

  • Eat your greens. Make sure that you are giving your body the best possible start by eating fruit and vegetables on a daily basis. If you aren’t keen on your fruit and vegetables then try it in a smoothie instead.

  • Declutter your house. Living in mess can make us feel stressed. Taking time to declutter the house can be very therapeutic and living in a nice, tidy house can help us feel calm. Marie Kondo has lots of useful tips on decluttering and organizing the house.

  • Pay it forward. Donate anything you don’t need to the thrift store. You are helping others and this is great for your self-esteem!

  • Read a novel. Taking some time to read a novel can help focus the mind and reading is also really good for your mental health. Look on Amazon for their top sellers.

  • Get an early night. Sleep deprivation can cause serious health problems. It can also make us feel sad and we can find that we start craving junk food. Getting an early night will help us feel great and make us happy. Don’t stay up late watching Netflix, get that early night!

  • Unplug and get out. Shut the laptop, put your mobile phone down and get outside. A digital detox is good for all of us and can help us recharge so that we are more productive when it comes to working again.

  • Cuddle a loved one. We all love a good cuddle. Giving a loved one a good squeeze can help reduce stress and even make us feel happy.

By making some small changes we can really make a massive difference to our health and mental wellbeing. It is really important that we stop juggling those balls and show ourselves just how important we are. What small change can you make to your life?

Just Thinking: By Colin Chappell – Author Zone

Introducing “Just Thinking”

A little book, for when you have a little time, with some little writings, which may produce some little thoughts.

It was published last month and is available from any online book retailer in eBook, Paperback and Hard Cover format.
Just Thinking, Collin Chappell, Poetry Book, Author Zone
It’s a collection of verses written over a number of years, and it is my sincere hope that readers will be able to relate to the manner in which I wrote them. If a piece was emotional to me, I would hope that it could also be emotional to them.
If I have incorporated situations or circumstances which I found thought-provoking, it is hoped that they will also be encouraged to pause and ponder.
I have had no formal education in verse but I do, however, know how I feel and what motivates me to write. I write honestly. My writings are, quite simply, me!

The link below takes you a reading of “Just A Rose”, which is included in this book.

All the proceeds from book sales will be directed to my daughter, Melanie-Anne, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2007.
She is still fighting, but the treatment programs have taken their toll and she is unable to hold down a paying job for a variety of reasons. She is therefore dependent on benefits from her disability provider.
Melanie has no cable TV and no Internet but does survive in this electronic age with her phone, which is also her reminder of meetings, her complex medication times, and of anything else that she is otherwise likely to overlook.
She uses her time to volunteer for non-profit organizations and has been involved in giving some dignity the women who are living on the streets in Vancouver’s downtown Eastside when she is up to it, Melanie is also performing a befriending/preliminary assessment function (on a volunteer basis for a counseling service)
of individuals who are fighting poverty.
Two of her poems are also included in “Just Thinking”!

The Swamp Fairy Book Cover

A bit about ‘The Heart Stone Chronicles.’

Fourteen-year-old Abigale Forester, recently orphaned and a ward of the State of Illinois moves from Chicago to Florida to live with her aunt, her last living relative. Magnolia Forester becomes her legal Guardian, and together they claim an ancient inheritance; land that belonged to Abby’s mother’s family for generations.

Holding onto the only piece of her mother Abby has left, a calcite pendant and her mother’s most sacred possession, she discovers the truth of her legacy. The pendant is more significant than she could possibly imagine. Forged from a giant mystical heart-shaped stone found on the very swamp land Abby now owns, it holds the power of her ancestors.

But with that power comes greater responsibility, one that pits her against Rafe Cobb, a greedy land developer, who will stop at nothing to own Abby’s swamp land.

As Abby learns to be part of a family again and explores her love of horses with friends, Savanna, and Blake, the swamp slowly gives up some of its secrets. She is summoned by a primaeval nymph, who teaches Abby that her true destiny is to protect the nymphs from evil in an ever-changing modern world.

Can Abby save the swamp and the Naiad Nymph Clan from certain destruction before it is too late?

What Readers Are Saying

“This book was recommended to me by a friend, and I must admit that it’s not my usual kind of read. But I thought I’d give it a chance. Right off the bat, I had two favourite characters, Abby and Sam. The author drew me in with good writing, excellent pacing, and an antagonist that had me turning pages at an alarming rate. I had to find out what the dastardly villain would do next! Andrew Joyce

An enchanting book written by Colorado author and blogger Colleen Chesebro, the “Fairy Whisperer.” This charming book tells a story about a little girl, Abigail, who, in spite of a difficult life, finds true magic from the love she has given, the love she receives, the magic of friendship, and of her beloved swamp.
A wonderful book for tween girls who, like all of us at that age, love horses, magic, and trying on their own wings. Beautifully written, and lovingly told, this story resonates those values we all hope to achieve. Belinda M

Let me introduce you to my New Blogger Friend Jenita.

I enjoy the connections and interactions that I make here in the blogosphere. Each day it I literally meet a new person and today, I share a brief introduction/interview with  a new blogger friend of mine, Jenita.

Thank, you Jenita for talking to us about yourself on such a short notice and I believe you’ll do well in blogdom 🙂

A big thank you

Hello, everyone!  I’m Jenita. I am a fairly new Blogger on WordPress. It’s been about 5 months since I started my Blog.  I am also a children’s book author.Jenita 1

I love to write short stories & poetry.

My Blog, https://huntsclubhouse.wordpress.com/ is an extension of my main website, http://huntsclubhouse.com/ that was inspired & created for children; per I’ve worked several years caring for them as a Professional Nanny.       I love to find the beauty in things.  I enjoy decorating, and I LOVE to laugh!  I love hanging out and having fun with family and friends, per it’s always a blast. I am also sort of a neat freak (slightly OCD, lol)  I do not like disorganized spaces or over-crowded rooms!

I created my Blog to cater to more adults & parents…as well as a platform to introduce my two children’s books, “Beautiful Boy” & “Beautiful Girl”.   In addition, during this process, to my surprise, I have found myself further developing my writing with newly inspired poetry and articles, about life and other inspirational topics, I didn’t even initially plan to share. This has definitely been a growing experience.  I am also simply blown away by the numerous talent I have discovered on various blog sites…including yours, Jacqueline. It is absolutely amazing!  There is such a plethora of topics & areas to be inspired by, or educated about, across the web.  It’s truly an open buffet of content.

I think I‘d probably be considered an average blogger.  I still have a lot to learn.  I realize others may have obtained more followers or higher stats in a shorter amount of time, but ultimately, I just want people to enjoy what I write…& the more people that are aware of my content, the more can be impacted.  Here are a few of my Favorite Blog posts….

In between my day-to-day caring for children, I LOVE to admire the beauty of nature, going out to great restaurants, & having fun with family.

One of my goals is to continue to gain more exposure for my two children’s books, which are available on Amazon http://amzn.to/24NhCzI

I would also love to write for a larger platform to increase exposure for my writing in general, as well as for my Blog.  My desire is to reach as many people as possible to hopefully inspire & motivate. If someone can be touched & inspired by my content, perhaps it will spread & motivate them to inspire others as well.

Below is my first just published Poetry Book “Out of the silent breath” which is available on Amazon and Smashwords.

When you buy my book, you support me in an invaluable manner.

Jacqueline writes from her heart on passion, pain, suffering, loss and LIFE. I have been incredibly moved by her poetry and I know I will return to “Out of the Silent Breath” again and again.

Finally!! Here it is! My First Published Book and I am bawling out my eyes and smiling at the same time.

Out of the silent breath

I feel a deep sense of release. I don’t know how to express my thoughts. It’s been a climb and sometimes a dip, but I knew that one day, I will arrive at this juncture.

Except I sit with you over a cup of tea, maybe only then will you really understand my journey – one day, I shall speak of these things.

To all those who have supported me to this point, I remain ever grateful. You have no idea what your friendship means to me and how far it’s taken me.

I present to you – even though some of you had a sneak cover peek, it was tweaked a bit – my poetry book. I laughed writing some, I bled writing some, I sighed writing some and I cried writing some.

It’s all Glory to Him. He made it possible.

It’s available on Amazon-Kindle and Smashwords and it will be an utmost delight if even only one person buys it.

I have also set it up at both ends of my sidebar as a source of motivation.

Now let me go and finish working on a compilation of the short stories that I hope to publish in June.

My thanks and utmost regards.

Remain blessed.
