Those Lovely Frilly Dresses…

1451834614468[1]

I enjoy fashion and when I was much younger, I quite considered myself a decent fashionista. It was a matter of being on fashionable point, with the pedal-pushers, the knicker-bockers, the hot-pants, bell-bottoms, tube tops, penny loafers, cute platforms and what not.

I can’t forget the priceless look on my dad’s face when I once ripped up my jeans in the wake of the ripped jeans fad. He thought it was for a University project called rag day and the poor man just couldn’t understand the whole shebang.

Nevertheless, I always drew the line on indecent clothing that were simply too exposing.

I have never found the thought of exposed bosoms and butts my cup of tea.

Before you start to wonder, yes I do wear shorts.

Sensible shorts that will not cause your eyebrows to disappear totally from your face, leaving you looking forever startled.

In recent times, I have seen ladies (and I hesitate to address them as ladies) dressed in ways that begs questioning and this nudity is even glorified on media platforms.

I think that it is part of today’s societal problems, which indirectly encourages a lot of young ladies not to take pride in esteeming themselves or treating their bodies with dignity. It has it’s adverse effect on society at large. The equating of nudity with being fashionable, is a view that I seriously beg to disagree with.

If someone behaves trashy, people will turn her into a dumpster and like my mother would say, ‘if a man can get free milk from his neighbours cow frivolously at any time he wants, he would never have need to buy his own Cow; and if the Cow dies, he simply becomes friendly with another generous neighbour.’

Nowadays, I go for comfort as much as possible on a regular day and I love to wear girly dresses that accentuate my femininity on special occasions.

Nothing spells ‘lady’ like a woman in a lovely get up.

The Daily Post New Sensation.

Ah, sweet youth. No matter whether you grew up sporting a fedora, penny loafers, poodle skirts, bell-bottoms, leg-warmers, skinny jeans, Madonna-inspired net shirts and rosaries, goth garb, a spikey mohawk, or even a wave that would put the Bieber to shame, you made a fashion statement, unique to you. Describe your favorite fashions from days of yore or current trends you think are stylin’.

A betrayal in the offing…Husband wanted urgently!

black-couple-sad

What the @@@&&&? Tess stared in dumbfounded shock at the image that unfolded before her eyes.

Unbelievable! She stepped back, a burning sinking sensation hitting the pits of her stomach as the scene registered in her brain.

‘Is that not Humphrey that I see?’

She stared through the clear glass of the jewelry store. Watching as he attentively hooked a necklace around the slender neck of the pretty lady with him.

‘No! Her mind silently screamed.’

But his drop of a tender kiss on the cheek of the exquisite looking face and their intimate looking tête à tête was enough confirmation.

The anger pooled inside her as she hurried away. She didn’t just have the stomach for a confrontation.

‘No wonder he has been behaving like a cat on hot coals these past few weeks.’ Goddess’s  voice muttered. ‘I have always been suspicious that he is too good to be true.’

‘He has obviously been tom-catting around town and here you are eating your heart out and driving yourself crazy trying to pick the perfect birthday gift for him.’

Tess gazed in annoyance at the gifts in her hands.

She had spent all afternoon and a little fortune picking out the lovely presents to give him for his birthday.

‘You better take back the presents advised Goddess.’ ‘He can’t make a fool out of you and still get your money as a thank you. No Sireee’ She continued.

‘Wait a minute, Cautious chipped in. ‘Don’t be in a haste Tess.’ There’s probably a reasonable excuse, Cautious rationalized.

‘You’ve been together for over nine months now and he hasn’t given you any reason to suspect him, has he?’ Cautious sagely reminded her.

‘Well, it starts one day and for all you know, he has just been smart about things’ argued Goddess.

The warring voices in her head gave her a headache and for several hours after she felt totally demoralized, mooning around her apartment.

Several hours later, the happy tune of her phone rang and she stared at it in uncertainty. Humphrey’s caller ID face stares at her through the phone screen.

She wasn’t sure she wanted to speak to him but she eventually decided to answer at the third round of ringing.

Hey Bae’, his warm tenor pulled at her.

Her curt reply of ‘Hello Humphrey’ wasn’t as warm as usual.

‘I missed you.’ He said. ‘How was your day?’

‘Really? *you lying cheat, go on, sell me another one, she muttered silently in her head* but her lips uttered a very curt and polite ‘Fine, thank you.’

‘Are you busy?’ ‘You sound distracted,’ he asked.

‘No am here.’

‘Good. You sound tired though. Just called to kiss you goodnight. Be seeing you tomorrow at the party.’ He hung up.

Tess barely slept well. Half of her night was spent tossing thoughts around in her head, wondering if she should bother going to the party or not.

She hated confrontations but she needed to get to the bottom things. The lying cheat.

I wonder how long they will last?…

The gym overflows to the brim
Every corner occupied to its seam
The svelte and the porky
The taut and the cuddly
All gathered in the square space
Intents burning in avid blaze
Brand new gears all donned for the show
Sweat trickles down and dots the brows
The man with the wobbly one pack
See’s in his mind a defined six pack
The lady with the pouting lips
Takes the 50th selfie as she takes another leap
The dude with true six packs
Simply shows off with all the weight racks
The sage mother like I, walks sedately on a climb
We offer each other a nod and a smile
We huff and we puff
We groan and we grunt
I haven’t seen the gym this way
No. Not in many months of May
I know the new ‘Resolutioners’
With the Dre beats and everything new
Let’s watch and see how long
The new fad will continue to brew.

To get a rainbow….

1451808647016[1]

Call me cuckoo,
But that’s okay too,
It just rained.
Like really rained.
Here in Dubai,
And it gives me delightful tickles,
That it’s not just the few sprinkles,
That barely causes tinkles,
Showers and puddles of blessings,
I care not what anyone thinks about these things.
For blessings are truly abound,
Yes indeed, they are.

Dating a Writer

Reblog. Well, if you are planning a future with a writer person, you should be a bit prepared.
I found this humorously true.

aurorajeanalexander's avatarWriter's Treasure Chest

Today I was surfing the internet to learn more about me being a writer and how my world, my life, my leisure time behavior has changed.

I as well wanted to find out how couples are finding arrangements when one of them is a writer.

At the end I ended up at ‘buzzfeed’ and found a hilarious, but apparently quite accurate infographic I couldn’t resist sharing.

What do you think: Is this just as true as I believe it is?

Rejection.

Reblog . Drop the judgemental and myopic state of mind.

fonzandcancer's avatarfonzandcancer blogging to encourage.

Did you know this is a kind of bullying, even a form of abuse. Many people reject someone because of the way they look, maybe because they have some kind of desease. During my cancer journey I have been rejected by so many people that do not understand cancer. We have all felt it in our lives, we know what it’s like to not be liked by the kid on the street, or the work colleague that excludes you. I guess people reject anything or anyone that is not the same as them.

I used to get very scared as a young boy, because when I was bullied I would get into trouble at home as well. Because more often than not I would get my coat stolen or bleed on a new shirt. I without doubt suffered rejection allot in my life, especially by the bullies on the bus…

Ramen Asian Salad – Happy New Year!

Delicious Ramen Asian Salad 😊

koolaidmoms's avatarWhat's for Dinner Moms?

Ramen Asian Salad

I consider my real New Years Day the day my kids go back to school each year. I don’t know why but that has always felt like the beginning of a new year to me ever since I was little. I get very emotional and sentimental around that time of year. So, actually New Years Day is kind of anti-climactic for me. I will raise a toast and think back over the past year just as most of the world will do. When I look back I hope to see all the good that has happened this year and not dwell on the things I cannot change in the world. Yes, I can be an agent of change but I cannot make the world change by myself. I hope and pray there are people all over making the same resolution to bring calm, peace and joy into the world around…

All Fagged Out…

1451751286538[1]

The days float by a bit too fast! Before we can blink, January will pass.

The holiday excitement and adrenaline rush of weeks is down to zilch and now my body is experiencing fatigue and withdrawal syndrome.

All I want to do is to sleep for days to re-calibrate but alas, no such leisure for this mom.

The children resume school tomorrow and my brain is not yet ready for the frenetic bout. Yes, the week starts on Sunday’s in UAE, just in case you wonder.

Come on! The school break is over already! Boo, Hoo, Hoo. I am wailing loud 😦

Anyway, life continues.

I think I will just get some early shut eye.

Nothing like a wee snooze to set things aright.

Tomorrow let the hustle begin.
