We over plan for tomorrow, yet today has been left with so many gaps unfilled.
How do you guarantee that you have tomorrow at hand?
Did you use your today to the best of it’s ability? Note that I said, ‘it’s ability, not your ability.’
Remember that each day that passes is forever lost to us.
Therefore, in all that you do; work, play, rest, love, care, share and the rest of things humans do, do it to the best of your ability and the full capacity of your day.
Our lives are only worth what we make of it and it’s not the length of one’s days that really matter, but the depth of how they lived.
So many latent talents lies in each and every one of us, so it always surprises me when someone says that they don’t have any talents.
That is an absolute lie. Every human was created equipped with a store house of dormant talents waiting to be tapped.
Some are out-rightly glaring in the face of the bearer and everybody around them, while some talents have to be discovered, developed and honed to bring out it’s optimum potential.
The more an iron is rubbed on a grinding stone, the sharper it becomes. When these potentials are not explored, the natural tendency is that it well remain stunted and never mature to any fruitful stage.
Some are simply too lazy to want to bother taking the time to think and find out that thing that really makes their heart sing.
In some cases, some move with whatever seems to be in vogue at that point in time.
Just because everybody else is doing it does not make it fit or right for you.
At the end of the day, when the movement becomes directionless and like driftwood, frustration sets in, time passes by and they wonder what happened to their lives.
It’s never too late to find and enjoy the talents that have been poured into you. Age notwithstanding.
It’s only too late when life is gone and the grave yard becomes the depository of potentials which have been allowed to go to waste.
There are those who are experts in finding every feasible excuse under this side of the planet why something cannot be achieved, meanwhile the solution to achieving the goal is just as plain as the day and right before their nose.
They build their pessimistic mountains out of molehills and nothing ever gets done around them, due to the long chain of all the bad things that could go wrong if they ventured to take a risk.
So, they never venture. They cower in a corner and try to discourage those who dare to venture.
Life in itself is a risk. From the day you were born it is a risk, until the day you die.
It’s either you live as fully as you can or you die having never lived.
Every Tuesday, I share snippets of thoughts that I call ‘My Thinking Corner.’
I would like to invite you to participate. The challenge is quite simple.
Each Tuesday, share your very short snippets of positive, inspiring, motivating, health, spiritual, writing advice, clips, posts etc, that can serve as a prop to motivate others and simply add my link to your post.
I call it my thinking corner because, I actually take out a bit of time just to think through things, encapsulate my thoughts as much as possible and detoxify my mind.
It might work for you in a different way, but the idea is to get the positive thoughts flowing.
Please send in your little thoughts. You never know whose life you might inspire.
♦ When you’ve achieved everything but you failed to love anyone and impact on them positively, you’ve achieved nothing.
♦ Living a more intentional life, leaves little room for waste.
♦ Whatever time that is not used well is lost. You will never get it back again, however, remember that rest is part of it, so that you do not experience diminishing returns from exhaustion. The idea is to create balance.
♦ You don’t have time to join issues with everybody. Choose your battles wisely. If something is not adding any value to your life and purpose, then it is probably not worth wasting valuable energy on.
♦ Your joy is dependent on you and can only be stolen when you allow it to be so.
Deb of Bookyglover words are always succinctly stated. Observing these little things can go a long way to a fulfilled life.
Giggles & Tales in Stella’s words ‘Life is a bristle of challenges. Life is filled with ups and downs. But no matter the difficulties, don’t allow it to kill your enthusiasm for success.’ The rest of her wise words can be found in her link.
Kingsoracle sometimes, we need to take those quantum leaps of risks to make any head way. Oba’s words strike a chord in me.
Striving Mom words on taking note of your life lessons are words that we should repeat to ourselves everyday.
Procrastination and evasion deprives us of so much and over time, when we weigh the time wasted debating on whether or not we should take a step, it accumulates to a tidy part of a lifetime.
Procrastination leaves us with so many, what if’s, had I known and should have’s which can be avoided, when we conscientiously take daily steps in living more purposeful and intentional lives.
We not super-human and are bound to falter now and again, but when our focus is targeted and meticulous, a falter will not send us completely off track.
In tying in evasiveness and forgiveness or kindness, some are far willing to cut the entire slack for themselves and granting every excuse under the Sun as lee-ways to dilly-dally, while they use an iron fist of expectation on others.
To lead, or impact on others, you must, yourself be an example worth emulating.
Since I am living in a desert city, I will write my prompt based on being stranded on a deserted sea of sand.
The desert is a fascinating landscape yet it can be merciless in retribution. A sand storm can spring unannounced and those fine, endless sand can get into areas better left imagined.
Living here and driving by huge expanse of sand ever so often, makes me appreciate the flowing robes, ‘Thobe for the men and Jalabiyafor women,’ that the Middle -Easterners wear as their national attire. It is not just a symbol of religion, but also derived over the ages as an attire of comfort and adaptability to their environment.
The blistering hot arid sands of the afternoon, quickly gives way to alarming freezing cold at nights that one must be well equipped to survive in the environment.
So, for me the five items would be:
A loose fitting robe, with flowing scarves, so that I can wear other things under to keep warm when needed, then use the scarf to keep out the fine sand that can get into eyes, the nostrils, the mouth, the ears, the underside and everywhere.
A huge flask of water to abate the thirst. Yes it’s arid and bone dry and who knows where the next oasis will be. Thirst and dehydration kills faster than not having food for days.
I will need my phone and charger with full service so that I can use the GPS to find my way, to make a call for help and to listen to music.
Food, food, food, even if they are just dry dates and energy bars and tins of beans.
Now for this last part, I will cheat by sneaking in somethings: A desert tent and pillow, some good read and a convertible gas lamp which can be used to warm stuff, keep an eye out for the desert snakes and all sorts of vicious creatures. Maybe those their wicked looking curved blades might me handy for any marauding Berber.
Can I bring my husband? He can be quite handy you know 😉
Food. Yes. It is one thing that we all partake of throughout our lives. It evokes a whole lot of good feelings and memories in most of us.
It is used to celebrate virtually every form of congregation known to man and as a former food business owner, it is a very profitable business, but also a slave master that requires so much work to produce a piece of delicacy that is consumed in a bite.
As though Linda is aware of my last night’s secrets of eating a little more helping from the buffet, with the prompt word ‘Food,’ I might as well confess and write the thoughts that I had when my eyes beheld the arrays of edible brilliance.
The Song Of My Taste Buds
The flowing fountain of chocolate
The decadent slices of creme brulee, creamy cakes and buttery cups of cream caramel
The offerings of fish dishes, pan-fried, battered, deep-fried baked or barbecued,
They all seemed, fluffy and delicious, asking for a taste.
Rice in such designs, from vegetable, to plain, to white, to curry, it’s all nice
The sauteed meats and the not so laughing cow
Giant shrimps and huge prawns with beady eyes,
The crabs claws looks set to give the fingers a pinch
The steam rising from the chaffing dishes,
Disseminating the flavourful aroma of dishes a plenty
Mashed potatoes to go with black pepper sauce
Artichokes, Mushrooms, Broccoli, Lettuce and so much more
Pot roast, meatloaf, clam chowders oh my
All the drool inducing platters
An orchestra to ravenous appetite
The soft music plays on as we rotate round the food circle
A bite, a sip of drink and laughter
The elation on the faces of the consumers, says it all
There are times when we are inadvertently hit by blows that destiny sends our way. Blows that we may never have been in a position to deflect, but one thing is that we can choose our attitude towards how the rest of our lives continues after these experiences.
Are we going to be stuck on the ‘Woe is me junction?’ Filled with bitterness and the bile of it all?
What purpose will that serve? None! Except building up the bile and angst, which is dangerous for our wellness and state of being.
Now, there are also incidents and hurts inflicted on us by others and we bear grudges the size of a mountain for them.
That’s giving someone rent free space in your head. Space that could be used for better things than dwelling on bitterness that takes us nowhere.
Forgiving them does not mean that you have forgotten the lesson learnt from the bitter experience, but it’s a way of setting yourself free.
Allowing these bitterness to dictate your life means that you will always remain in the victim mindset loop.
Cut yourself loose. Whatever it will take to get your life back, talk about it, cry about it, write about it, pray about it…..
