Into the Future, and away we go; You and I…

1450974757412[1]

Bloggy dear, I just got you a piping hot, burgundy coloured new laptop. You know I love things with a little pizzazz and spice, so off we go to three years down the lane.

I am enjoying the journey with you my dear blog-o-mine. It’s just six months that we started interacting with each other, though we shall pretend that’s it’s been three years and sometimes, I wonder why this tête à tête didn’t start a wee bit earlier. No matter. It’s all good.

Dear diary was a bit worried that you would steal her show, but she understands that you both are good for my soul and that your individual roles in my life is well defined. Diary has been my very best friend way back, when this lady was itty-bitty, but you have come to mean so much to me as well.

You have helped define my writing culture, made so many fantastic friends for me, taught me so much, all in all making you a very worthwhile and profitable venture.

When we started this journey, you and I, I wasn’t quite sure that we both knew what direction we were headed or if anyone would even bother with us, but you have managed to surprise me so much that you have become a big treat for me.

You kept so much momentum and got yourself acquainted to a whole lot of interesting fine gentry out there.

We have had fun visiting all manners of nooks and crannies, even the dodgy paths and you have taken me along this wonderful enriching voyage to unexpected arenas.

The rate at which you churned out posts, I thought that you should be sputtering dry by now, but girl, you are like a steam kettle with bells and whistles and you astonish me at times with your thoughts.

Blog-o-mine, you have almost taken a life of your own, all by yourself and I am astounded as I watch you evolve and blossom into an enriching hub.

It’s been an honour working with you and sometimes I wish that I could take a peek in a crystal ball and see what your dimensions would be like in another three years to come, but since I am denied such supernatural abilities, I shall just have to wait and see what the years with you have to offer, don’t I?

So, let me buckle up and enjoy the ebb and flow of the ride with you.

By the way, did I remember to mention to you that you are such an awesome blog-some blog-o-mine.

When A Bad Elf Visits… You simply exhale!

Our  lives are dotted with those waiting to exhale moments when we tell ourselves that it’s going to be alright irrespective of whatever the stress going on is.1450970724984[1].jpg

This is one of the small it’s gonna be alright moments for me.

For the first time ever I am doing a complete post on my phone. I usually set specific time to work on my laptop each day and then use my notepad to jot down my thoughts as the day goes by.

However, my laptop turned into a bad elf and crashed on me yesterday, causing me to have a few minutes of arrested development when I called her some naughty names.

After slapping her around a wee bit, I turned her off, wished her away to the Grinch that stole Christmas, poured my self a nice glass of Irish cream on the rocks and curled up with a juicy magazine.

Before I could say Trump, I was off asnooze. I am writing this post, possibly riddled with errors but who cares? Not me! Not at this moment!

I am just taking off to look for a replacement laptop; boo hoo hoo 😢 forced to spend a bit of my egg nest, but I guess that’s what egg nest’s are made for.

I simply said to the bad elfin computer, you ain’t cramping my style nor getting my goat, lady. I am going to exhale and get my groove back on.

I even turned it into a positive lesson and learnt how to tweak some stuff on my  phone.

What’s a writer girl to do without her machine? I will fix the silly one and keep as a backup.

Have you had one of those crikey moments?

Rabid Fan(aticism)…

When you are married to an English Premier League Football Fan(atic), as the years zip by, you find yourself getting far more knowledgeable about the things of Soccer/football.Democratic Republic of Congo soccer fans gesture ahead of their African Nations Cup Group B soccer match against Ghana in Port Elizabeth

You get to know the scores of Arsenal, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspurs and so on. You are privy to the tidbits of who has been relegated and who needs the extra points to make the cut.

Of course, you will be in the know of the humourous fact that the Lion in Chelsea’s logo has run away in protest of their bad outing and that José Mourinho their coach has been relieved of his formerly impeccable duties.

The names of footballers become familiar and roll off the tip of your tongue with ease, in such a way that you catch yourself sitting on the edge of your seat, kicking the air along with your husband and two boys and chanting ”come on, come on, come on….” and then yelling Gooooooal like a demented lady when your family team, Arsenal scores or eating your nails to nubs and having butterflies in your stomach during penalty shootouts.

Who knew! I was more a basketball, volleyball, running and tennis kinda girl who watches Roger Federer, Djokovic and Serena with a gleam in my eyes, but years of association has rubbed off and succeeded in turning me into a rabid fan along with my guys; though for me, my fanaticism is only during the Championship.

I am yet to be indoctrinated into developing the desire to watch football everyday – even when they are replays! No Siree!

However, the few live matches that I went to watch with the boys were totally awesome.

The last one was the Houston Cougars at the NRG stadium, Houston downtown October last year.

There is something electrifying and palpable about watching live matches and the chanting of the supporting crowd.

The camaraderie is totally addictive.

If wishes were mere thoughts to achieve reality

Mondays, will surely never come

For so many would have wished it away.

Quick Fun and Bizarre Fact:

I read somewhere that;

”Billy goats urinate on their own heads to smell more attractive to females.”

How do they achieve such a feat is what I ask?

It’s lovely to start the week and each day as much as we can with a smile and positive outlook. I find Leannenz Monday memes interesting.

No More Urgently….Bridegroom Wanted…

black couple in love

For several weeks Tess has decided not to bother any longer with the online dating hullabaloo.

The ping-pong uncertainty of it all was just not for her nerves. She simply wanted to meet a nice gentleman in a more conventional way and not chew her nails down to nubs from the nerves of dating a total stranger.

She still finds it romantic that her parents met some thirty five years ago at a friends wedding and within the space of a few weeks they knew that they were meant for each other.

”I think I am just going to enjoy being by myself; living and loving myself and letting my harmony flow.”

All the relationship Buddha’s advice about focusing on doing you, doing something that you love, staying in tune with your inner-self, self development, examining and getting rid of the junk in your trunk and growing the feeling of being complete in yourself, so that when the gentleman appears, he only complements the wholesome you, all sounded worthwhile.

She decided to do more fun stuff and not let her life revolve only around work, online scouting, mooning under the duvet reading romantic novels that left her with unsatisfied cravings in the pits of her stomach and yet more work.

She found that indeed there was so much that she could do alone or with a gal-pal and for the first time in some good moons, she felt satisfied, happy with herself and not pressed.

The tinkling ring of her telephone interrupted her thoughts. It was Anna.

”Sorry Tess, I can’t join you for the movies today, can we do next week?”

”Why? What’s up? I was just getting ready to leave.”

”Joe is town unexpectedly and I have agreed to have dinner with him tonight.”

”Girl, you know that’s just a booty call?” She tentatively said to Anna.

There was a lot on the tip of Tess’s tongue to say but she held it in check. She didn’t want it to seem like she was a miserable, jealous friend, but her guts told her that Joe is simply stringing Anna along and that doom would surely arrive one day soon.

”Oh well! Have fun. I’ll still go.” She said and hung up.

The trailer of the The Kings Men was very interesting and it promised to be an adrenaline satisfying watch.

She settled down with her buttery popcorn and a soda in the cinema, whose darkness was only interrupted by the flickers of screen-light and the tiny blue lights on the stair edgings.

Just as the movie started off, a bumbling, hulking shadow picking his way to the seat behind Tess’s row tripped over someone’s feet and his ketchup, mustard covered hot dog flew through the air, landing in Tess’s lap.

She squealed in startled surprise thinking it was a live creature. When she realized it was a hot-dog, she shot daggers with her eyes at the skulking fellow who had mumbled an apology and quickly settled into his seat with all the urgent shushing sounds of other viewers.

It was quite a worthy watch and she soon found herself enjoying the movie and no longer stewing over the startling fright.

Making her way to the ladies with the exiting crowd, a warm hand tentatively settled on her shoulders just outside the doorway and she paused in her strides.

‘So sorry about that Tess.”

”Of course! It has to be pompous Humphrey.” She thought uncharitably.

”Its okay!” She accepted his apology with an impatient wave of hand.

”If its really okay, them you must allow me to pay for the laundering and to buy you dinner at least?” He suggested.

”Oh why not?” Her little sensible voice said.

‘With such gracious and earnest request, you’ ve got to accept.” The inner tussle continued.

But it’s boring, pompous Humphrey!” Her inner goddess grumbled.

”It’s just dinner, not a walk down the aisle.” The two voices tussled.

”Okay! Tess said to him. ‘‘Let me just freshen up.”

For Sanity’s Sake…

I have always felt that evenings are meant for kicking back and relaxing after a days hectic job, either with family, doing what families do; eat, talk, laugh, squabble, watch TV, do homework etc.Night owl

I would rather close my day reading a good book, or browsing the dailies and just talking off my husbands ears with tidbits of the news.

I also enjoy the quiet time of going through my mailbox or lazily catching up with the blogs, with the sounds of my household in the background.

On days that I feel like stepping out for the night, we could just take a leisurely drive through town, grab a pizza or watch a movie with pop-corn and all the works.

I simply cherish my evenings and due to that, I prefer to do my work in the mornings; bright and early, I am ticking to go and by evening time, I am mentally not in the mood to burn.

The downside with that is that what I cannot get done with by 7pm, gets shoved over to the next day.

It does not escape my mind that there are some whose livelihoods revolve around night jobs.

I truly cannot fathom how they do it, year after year without turning into grumps.

I would go bonkers and probably turn into an ogress – QED.

The Artistry of Graffiti…

Artistry of graffiti

The artistry of graffiti
Can be quite an entreaty
Which makes lithography of geography
And tells picto-tales of the polity

They are made by toughies
Who appear like Buffy
But inside they are really fluffy
And are simply all goofy

Body Graffiti…

body tattoo

Her body made a huge map

Even a cat was having a nap

Painted all over in a snap

Her tattoos shone like a lamp

§

Like Graffiti telling tales

She even had a few males

Who seemed like they were in jail

And needed money to make their bail

§

Two of them drank ginger-ale

And another a simple tattle-tale

The other man had a long ponytail

And he sang like a Nightingale

§

She had a dragon too

Whose breath was hot all through

It kept her warm at night

When it was no longer light.

My Dear WordPress….It’s not possible!

quotes about friendship

My Dear WordPress,

If I can recall a not so dim memory in my conversations with you, I remember that we have had this chat before, when you slyly asked me to take a pick of my three favourite blogs out of the wholesome lot of my blog-some friends.

I told you that my eclectic tastes and needs makes variety the spice of my life. That these needs are fed in their itty-bitty parts by each and everyone of my committee of friends and basically, in a day I go visiting at least a 100-200 of my friends, which makes it rather impossible to pick 3 posts out of so many.

Since you can’t quite remember this conversation, let me refresh your mind.

I told you my dear WP ( I hope I can call you that, since we are such bosom buddies) that a lot of my friends fill so many gaping gaps in my life.

They make me howl in glee till tears run down my face.

They plaster smiles on my face and sometimes do make me frown.

A good number of them have clicky fingers and they show me vibrant pictures that leaves me in awe.

Some keep me grounded and in touch with my humanity and yet some make me reflect deeply about life itself.

Some remind me that I should always be grateful for the little things, sharing their tips freely and indeed I am grateful for these friends of mine.

Some fellowship with me and throw more light on my spirituality and some are generous enough  to share their blessings with me.

They have shared their lives, their children and spouses, their pets, their horses and even garter sssnakes at times (now I have the heebie-jeebies just from the ssss word and it’s all your fault).

A good lot of my friends feed my appetite with the flavour bursting, delicious meals that they serve up online  – thank God we can’t add weight from looking at all the pictures.

A staunch number of my wonderful friends encourage and inspire me to spread my wings, to soar and reach for the skies and some even take me on their own wings on expeditions to places that I have never been before.

Some give me cause to pause and share a silent prayer, hoping that all  is well with them and lest I forget, a good number of them weave very delightful tales and write delicate poems.

I do have a raunchy bunch too and the political man as well.

A lot of sage counsel is equally on offer and they’ve got my back as well.

So you see, my crowd is quite a mix, even with music and I really think that maybe you should join us? Need I say more? What do you say?

Maybe, if I send you the list of 719 of them to marinate over, that might help you make a decision, whilst I go and get acquainted with some more.

Finally, don’t forget that saying which goes that ”you should never ask a mother to choose out of all her children, it’s simply not done.” If you are wondering how she can cope with them all, I must highlight to you that she is the multi-breasted one.

My regards to you WP. I have enjoyed having a good natter.
