‘PLEASE KEEP SENDING IN THE LINKS.’

Today’s featured blogs are:

Voulaah African braids and twists go a long way back in history. In Egypt during the eras of Pharoahs, one had to be a member of the royal lineage or the deputies to make their hair in such manner that was considered sexy and seductive.Introducing Anita who shows us snippets of this.

Giving 4 little things Dehan shows us how we can give in little ways that take nothing away from us 🙂

Watching the daisies When I say that I learn so much from what I am doing, I am not exaggerating. This healing power in colour visualization is something that I am definitely going to try and it costs nothing. You could check it out. You never know how helpful it might be to you.

Luanne of following seas reminds me with this quote ‘Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other. ~ Abraham Lincoln, why I like visiting her blog. A fresh view of Lincoln memorial took me back to my visit to Washington and the priceless monuments of history that lines its horizons.

It’s me Saraa I enjoyed getting to know a bit more about Saraa. She’s a delightful, friendly young lady who’s been a warm support in this space.

Kidnapped I have been following Mel’s book series Curse breaker for some time as well as others. Mel is such a passionate writer and I remember very well that these words of her personal experience that I quote below, kept me going back.

Today, two years ago was the last time I saw or spoke to my sister. I was rewriting the opening chapters of Curse Breaker: Enchanted and its two sequels when she died hence the posts. Her last words to me were a heartfelt plea that I write all my stories and publish them. I promised her that and she left.

I didn’t know then that she would be dead in five days. I didn’t know those would be the last words we’d ever speak to each other. I didn’t know that was the last time I would ever see her face to face.

Please visit their blogs and say hello. A few minutes may gain you a friendly support.

FRAUDULENCE AND ATTEMPT TO OBTAIN BY PRETENSE!

It always makes me chortle seriously when I receive such spam mail with all sorts of enticing figures and ridiculous promises from total strangers. They’ve simply chosen the wrong customer.

It actually makes me wonder who the fools and unfortunate souls who fall for these scams are? They are GREEDY people!

Why would anyone become the beneficiary of huge sums of money out of the blues, when it’s not the open national lottery?

It’s only greed that will make a human want to harvest where they never sowed. It’s only avarice that will make a fool fall for scams that are as old as time.

People should beware of such mail. Don’t click or ever respond to it. Send it forever to the trash and don’t let the creep out.

I receive several each week and overlook them, but it dawned on me that so many poor, unassuming humans have fallen into such pit of rattlesnakes.

Below is a copy and paste of one of such mail.

Please feel free to chuckle with me or reblog if need be.

Regards,

Hello my dear,

This is to bring to your notice the resolution of our recently
concluded Joint Committee meeting with the United Nations Secretary

international withheld payments which was previously approved.

Following series of complain to the UN Secretary General (Ban Ki-moon

Secretary General (Ban Ki-moon) under the authority of United States
to compel all Financial Institutions in Europe, Asia and Africa for urgent
release of all unpaid approved funds before the end of June 2016.

The Good news is that an irrevocable payment approval has been issued
by the World Bank group to release your part – payment through MONEY
GRAM payment Scheme. The federal ministry of finance accredited payment
coordinator (Mr.Tony Jiaja ) will send your daily payment of $5,000 USD
to your name until your total payment is completed so urgently contact

Spiking Blood Pressure!

Disheveled, Face, Female, Head, Portrait, People, Woman

I opened my overflowing mailbox and my blood pressure spikes in clicking anguish!

A mad woman in my head screams and runs off into the bushes to go and hide.

She just wants to ball herself in a fetal position and protect her head from the imagined boxes of thousands of mail being emptied on it!

Arrgh! I’ve got mail and I am swimming in it!

Midnight Motivations and Musings 47…

1459514412794[1]

What can I say? I have met some people who have fallen out and ended years of good relationship due to a difference in opinions that are sometimes insignificant.

I have witnessed heated and virulent arguments, even online where people degenerate far down to abusive vitriol when someone dares to disagree with their point of view and the question that always cross my mind is to wonder what kind of background the name-calling, combative person has?

If a person can’t get his/her point across in a clear, concise manner without the entire discussion degenerating into a World-war, then they should not bother getting into discussions at all.

Getting all heated up over issues that can either be by-passed or discussed like responsible humans is a no brainer. No one should waste their time on such non-productive ventures.

Opinions are what they are. Even if you are right, the other person reserves the right to disagree with you and your ability to handle the disagreement is where the maturity lies.

I have witnessed where people are brought around to a different line of thinking by the presentation of clear, unambiguous and empirical evidence.

Points of view are two-ways or even in some instances a multi-faceted traffic and as much as you like your voice heard, it’s possible the other person does so as well.

Today’s featured blogs are:

Go and don’t tell or go tell Do you keep quiet when you should be telling? It’s worth finding out.

Preventing social media from ruining your relationship It’s a fact that social media is affecting relationships, but there are ways to handle it if you are wise. Explore!

Ties that bind in Oba’s borrowed words  below…Hmm! I won’t say much. Find out yourself 🙂

The feeling of hurt and anger overwhelmed her as she responded to her husband.

I know he loves me,so why do I feel rejected by his not wanting to hold my hands?

We’ve forgotten how to be human: From Jill I quote below:

But for a time it seemed that we were on the path to becoming a kinder, more gentle society; a society that was trying to overcome prejudices and see others as different, but not inferior.  But today that trend is reversing.  Today we are regressing back to a society that views all who do not look, act, speak, and think like us as being somehow inferior.  And that is just wrong.

What do I have to say about this read? Gosh! I think it’s a pamphlet every adult, parent, teacher, leader etc should read. Simple in it’s words, but teaches a thousand lessons.

Scuffle on the balcony : If you’ve been following this tale, you must be hooked by now. Mel always ends it on a cliff hanger that leaves you  looking for all the answers. My, my. Excellent writing.

I need these five items If you were stuck, what would you take with you?

Human Bots In The Midst Of The Dirty Spam Bots!

1458703462081[1]

I have a full spam box and decided to slowly weed through and sift with a fine tooth comb, because I have actually unknowingly weeded out a lot of good comments with the load of rubbish before, so I was being careful this time, though it was quite lengthy.

Amidst the offer for watermelon flavoured Viagra, several trolls, crazy offers and all manners of Chinese writing that I couldn’t make out what on earth it was saying, I saw YOU, YOU, YOU AND YOU

I wonder what is going on and why I have lots of decent humans mingled with trashy bots 😐😕?

Apologies if you sent comments and didn’t hear from me.

I am in the process of disentangling you from the weedy trash 😉

I was of the good mind to chew WordPress’s ears, but changed it quickly because I don’t want them to let some mad dogs out of the spam cage and into my arena.

P. S. Did I ever tell you about my green, Johnny just come, new-beginner days when I was responding to comments from bots? Ah!! I guess that’s a story for another day 🙂

My regards,

Jacqueline Oby-Ikocha

Then and Now…

See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil has changed to:

Look at the evil with eyes wide open and if possible with magnifying lens tied to a binoculars.

Capture the data of the evil with your high definition zoom cameras.

Listen to all contorted/distorted variations of the tasty morsel of evil with big pitcher ears and headphones.

Then go ahead and shout it through every social media forum available, Telephone, Email, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc and try to break the internet by making it go viral to gain all the likes available and hopefully, the highest bidder for your captured evil will come knocking at the door with a fat cheque.

Your Gravatar Has Expired… Yes! It’s a rant

1456839674369[1]

In the sea of gravatars, yours might not stand out much. As a matter of fact, it may have expired!

Your gravatar is not a postage stamp, that you slap on each blog post with such speed and sporadic turn that can leave someone dizzy.

I wonder how a blogger can go from liking one blog post to fifteen blog posts in 2 minutes flat? How possible is that?

On a serious note, no one expects that you will read all the blog posts out there. That’s not only impossible, but a suicide mission.

However, you have to make a bit of an attempt to engage with your friends, otherwise, they will never get to be your friends, because you will remain on the periphery of the blog chain. A fairly vague face or name, if at all.

This is one of the reasons that I feel so uncomfortable just sticking a ‘LIKE’ on a blog written in only a language that I cannot understand.

It makes me feel like a cheat and I simply don’t like that. I have even gone to extra lengths of dropping a line for the blogger and suggesting from a readers point of view, if they could at least just put an English title so that one has an idea what the whole thing is all about, but nope! Not even a response from any of them. Oh well!

With the amount of stress out there and a long list of blogs to read, it will not be easy on anyone to take the extra time each single moment to translate a blog post. Let’s call a spade what it is. A big, hard spade.

How does a blogger foster growth if they don’t engage with the readers and friends that they have made?

All the hard work that goes into preparing a blog is wasted if no one is reading it or commenting on it.

I would rather engage two decent readers than a blog full of gravatars.

Yes of course, there are days that we see a post and  we have nothing to say, so we leave a tiny footprint of a like.

However, there are some, whose style is bulldozing through blogs with lightning speed and on a consistent basis.

Some are so rude that they won’t even bother commenting on a post, but the simply say  ‘hey, come and check out my xyz post, it’s awesome’ and they stick on their URL without as much as a hey ho!

That is rudeness. It can be compared with going to someones’ house and barging in without knocking. It’s only burglars that do that.

That it’s a blog and online does not mean courtesy is dead.

For your information, to those few who barge in rudely, it’s not cute and secondly, everyone else is equally busy. So behave yourself!

We blog with integrity and the primary objective is to impact on those around us positively no matter how little that is.

I think that we shouldn’t lose sight of the objectives of what we are doing, which is to enrich lives, creativity, fulfillment, tranquility and not excluding making something economically meaningful of the effort if the opportunity arises.

If it’s just about crunching numbers, then be prepared to be frustrated and wear out fast, because that is not what pays over time.

What pays over time, is the building of relationships, as fleeting as online relationships might seem.

Blogging is a lifestyle like a lot of other social skills. It is not a sprint, but a long enduring marathon, where you walk when you tire, take a sip of water, pace yourself, listen to music and hobble along.

My two cents.

This is for those bloggers who go from one season to another, slapping their gravatars on posts like postage stamp.
