Midnight Motivations and Musings #41…

Harmony can hardly be arrived at when we have constant internal turmoils stemming from grudges borne over something.

A whole lot of times grudges stem from expectations placed on someone and when it’s not met, we become resentful and store that in a corner of our minds and hearts. Even when we say that we’ve forgiven the person, we keep a long list of records of all the shortfalls.

If we minimized our expectations from others to almost nothing, that way we leave room for pleasant surprises and also save ourselves that feeling of being let down.

An instance is our personal relationships. A lot of relationships fail because we go into it with a long list of dos, don’ts and infernal expectations.

They are not GOD, but fallible humans!

This virtually applies to everything that we do. For instance you might have a nasty boss. Zero your mind down to the fact that he/she has issues that they are dealing with and they possibly don’t know how to be different.

Once your mind has accepted their contrary prickly nature, you go about your business as effectively as you can without letting the acid of annoyance and grudge build up inside you. Getting into differences with such people will only hurt you more, because the likelihood is that they may not understand, don’t care or are insensitive to your feelings.

Remember that you cannot change other people, but you can change yourself. Who knows, your balanced sense of self and disposition might actually serve as a source of inspiration for such people.

The above quote can be likened to an ailing patient who buys all the drugs and keeps them locked in a cupboard for safe-keeping :/

Of course, the patient will remain sick.

Change can only come about when it’s applied and not from wishful thinking.

Change is a deliberate decision, backed up with actions that over time and practice becomes a character trait.

Some are afraid of trying for change because of the fear of failure, which is a worse scenario.

It’s better to try and repeat over and over, than to sit in the same situation through a lifetime. What a waste that would be!

It’s definitely important to review our steps from time to time, to see where we are and where we are coming from.

However, you shouldn’t feel dissuaded if you do a review and find that things are dragging a bit and not working out as fast as you would want, especially if you look and perceive that others might be running faster.

These days, life is on the micro-wave lane and we almost expect everything around us to fall into such category, but there are things that we cannot necessarily change as fast as we wish.

What we have to do, is to establish a rhythm that we can sustain.

Success is built over time, with patience and diligence. It’s not a sprint, but a long-drawn marathon, filled with hills, valleys, cobblestones to trip you up and sometimes muddy swampy pathways with noisome mosquitoes along the track 🙂

Just keep going. Each day, add another jigsaw to the puzzle.

It’s sad and amusing at the same time when people come across with the perception that good fortune comes from luck.

That is absolutely balderdash and misleading. Good fortune has to find you working on it.

Yes, indeed there are those who have been beneficiary’s of fortune that they’ve not necessarily worked for, by virtue of birth or winning a lottery, but the ratio is so insignificant for anyone to fold their hands and expect lady luck to come smiling with shiny teeth.

Remember the saying that ‘HEAVEN helps those who help themselves.

When you take those necessary steps each day, things align and the windows of possibilities keeps opening up.

This predicament of complacency and arrogance happens and manifests in so many aspects of our lives very easily.

That tendency to feel comfortable, not wanting to rock the boat and just go with the flow once we’ve carved a sweet niche leads us down this track.

We can be contented with what we have and yet strive to keep improving our lot, because life itself is a consistent flow that does not stagnate.

The tendency to also grow arrogant and superior, once we start having that sense of accomplishment is also a penchant that easily sneaks in.

We should remember and strive to keep our heads bowed in humility, even as we stand tall in confidence.

Tuesdays Thoughts…My Thinking Corner #14.

Every Tuesday, I share snippets of thoughts that I call ‘My Thinking Corner.’

I would like to invite you to participate. The challenge is quite simple.

Each Tuesday, share your very short snippets of positive, inspiring, motivating, health, spiritual, writing advice, clips, posts etc, that can serve as a prop to motivate others and simply add my link to your post.

I call it my thinking corner because, I actually take out a bit of time just to think through things, encapsulate my thoughts as much as possible and detoxify my mind. It helps give me clarity of vision and might help you too.

It might work for you in a different way, but the idea is to get the positive thoughts flowing.

Please send in your little thoughts. You never know whose life you might inspire.

  • ♥ When you keep undermining your self-worth, no one else will take the time to elevate it.
  • ♥ We fritter away our lives with too many details. Simplify it! Keep whittling away the excesses.
  • ♥ When we have joy that runs deep, nothing can rob us of it, because we can dig in deep and reach for it. Every other hurt will be on the periphery.
  • ♥ The recipe for unity is not complicated, but it takes love and perseverance.
  • ♥ As you proclaim peace and love with your mouth, endeavour to see that your heart matches your proclamations.

Our last week thinkers brought in dollops of good thoughts:

Enlightenment from Dollops of Heedful Ramblings A sweet short quote that cuts into the meat of the matter.

Inspired Series from Seye never leaves me empty handed. I always come away richer.

Simple Power from Kay. You need a shot of this. Never underestimate the strength of your words.

Thank you to all the contributors. May these words take roots in our lives and may our harvest be bountiful 🙂

‘So, when will you share those nuggets of wisdom of yours?’

*P.S. I know that I read more thinking thoughts from other bloggers than those listed above, but for some reason, I can’t find the ping backs to some of them. Please give me a heads up if your’s is not showing here.

To grow we need to take ‘positive risks’ in our pursuits and keep pushing the bar up.

If we don’t push the bar, we stagnate and become redundant.

It’s definitely needful to think through our steps and not to jump into impulsive actions that would only negate our efforts, however, over-processing can equally be a buzz killer and source of procrastination.

You may experience bumpy take-offs, even sustaining the momentum could get very turbulent, but clearly defining and redefining your goals, concentrating, caring about what you are doing and holding yourself accountable will lead you to your desired post.

Keeping these things in the front of one’s mind helps keep you grounded and stable.

You’ve got to care enough to make it worthwhile.

Sometimes, nature forces us to slow down due to certain challenges that it throws our way and we are literally left in the waiting room.

While in the waiting room, it shouldn’t be seen as a drawback, but as an opportunity to decompress, to keep our eyes gazing up at the stars and yet our feet planted firmly in the present.

That would be a good time to have a bird-eye review, regroup and relaunch of that which you are projecting on.

I call it the 3 R’s .

A simple example of how difficult it is to keep our mind focused, is my last week spilling into this week, which has been one roller-coaster of health, stress and all sorts of challenges that I don’t want to inundate you with.

I found negative thoughts and horrendous words creeping into my mind and trying to take an upper hand.

It’s that part of human nature that dislikes discomfort that tries to lash out and grumble or muck about with so much negativity.

Remember the Israelite’s and their journey in the wilderness? A classic example of how grumbling can delay our blessings, that’s if we get it at all again.

I have found that negativity takes root faster than positive thoughts, as such, we must have to consciously pull ourselves out of the funky way of thinking into the way we ought to think.

Even if it’s difficult, occupy yourself with routine and the repetitive mantras from your box of positive thinking.

Regards,

At some point in time every one fails in one thing or the other that they strive to achieve. It only becomes failure when we refuse to rise up from the debunked attend and forge ahead.

The worst disservice that you can do to yourself, is to muck about and wallow in that sense of defeat hanging like the Sword of Damocles over your head.

It will take you to the cleaners, squeeze you for all it’s worth, leave you dirty, down and out.

I tried to say the quote in a humourous way, but I am sure you get the message. If you give him an inch, he will take a whole yard.

Get up, dust off yourself and crawl along.
