Beneath All The Shimmer…

Stars, Shimmer, Celebrity, Success, Life, Poetry

To most who look,
stars shimmer all the time
with finesse and success,
but beneath the glamour
lie lonely hearts
struggling to know themselves.

Let Me Stand…

There are those who are not only distractions in our lives, but their main purpose is to trip us up on our path. Sadly, there are those who find joy in our despair.

Whoop Dee Doo! For The First Time Ever…

For ever, I’ve been touching other people’s books but it’s never been mine. To touch my book in paper print with my name nicely written on the cover is akin to a spiritual feeling. It smells good, it feels good, I am tickled pink with pleasure and feel full.

Unbridled, For The First Time, Excited, Book, Author, Poetry Book, I Am Writing

My first book was in digital format because I was still trying to wrap my head around how to do the print version and hopefully, I will turn it into paperback soon.

Several weeks ago, I ordered a proof copy of Unbridled, sadly USPS bungled it up and only heaven knows which part of the Universe my parcel is floating in, so I had to re-order through priority shipping which cost me quite a bit sending it by UPS courier from the US to UAE, I am, however, happy to finally have it in my hands and it feels fantastic 🙂

I am equally happy to let you know that you can now access Unbridled on Kindle for those who find Kindle more convenient.

It would be a delight to have you check it out and give your candid feedback. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement.

The Low Down… #SoCS

Highlight of my week was bludgeoning people to check out my newly published book ‘Unbridled,’ and thinking of all the ways to get the ball rolling fast enough 😉

Do authors ever get to a point when they are no longer emotionally committed to their books that its performance doesn’t affect the highs and lows of their emotions? I am doubtful.

My emotional tank has been out of sync and swinging like a pendulum. One moment I feel anxious, the next I feel depleted, and the next I feel absolutely fine…

Sometimes, I must say that I think writing is a cursed gift, especially when I have several muses running around in my head all begging to be heard.

One needs to be mad enough to take the high road to earn a decent living as a writer, but the low down is this, the gift of writing is a gift that never stops giving and a gift worth having.

Either way, it can give you a euphoric high or bring you down low.

Linda, thank you for the prompt ‘High & Low’, it’s made me ruminate a bit to have a clearer understanding of my current feelings.

Just Thinking: By Colin Chappell – Author Zone

Introducing “Just Thinking”

A little book, for when you have a little time, with some little writings, which may produce some little thoughts.

It was published last month and is available from any online book retailer in eBook, Paperback and Hard Cover format.
Just Thinking, Collin Chappell, Poetry Book, Author Zone
It’s a collection of verses written over a number of years, and it is my sincere hope that readers will be able to relate to the manner in which I wrote them. If a piece was emotional to me, I would hope that it could also be emotional to them.
If I have incorporated situations or circumstances which I found thought-provoking, it is hoped that they will also be encouraged to pause and ponder.
I have had no formal education in verse but I do, however, know how I feel and what motivates me to write. I write honestly. My writings are, quite simply, me!

The link below takes you a reading of “Just A Rose”, which is included in this book.

All the proceeds from book sales will be directed to my daughter, Melanie-Anne, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2007.
She is still fighting, but the treatment programs have taken their toll and she is unable to hold down a paying job for a variety of reasons. She is therefore dependent on benefits from her disability provider.
Melanie has no cable TV and no Internet but does survive in this electronic age with her phone, which is also her reminder of meetings, her complex medication times, and of anything else that she is otherwise likely to overlook.
She uses her time to volunteer for non-profit organizations and has been involved in giving some dignity the women who are living on the streets in Vancouver’s downtown Eastside when she is up to it, Melanie is also performing a befriending/preliminary assessment function (on a volunteer basis for a counseling service)
of individuals who are fighting poverty.
Two of her poems are also included in “Just Thinking”!

Echos Of My Neighbourhood

The Dying One’s – Echoes of My Neighbourhood

It simply has to be the searing heat, ‘cos I’ve seen far too many dead birds this past couple of weeks. The poor things.

When I look at them, they always seem to have their feathers ruffled out of place and their beaks open in an attempt to get more air – my thoughts.

However, I preferred not to take depressing photos of the dead birds but sharing bits and pieces of my week. No one can convince me that the Earth is not gradually over heating.

Pamela took us to Jax beach and I must say that I’m a tad envious of those enjoying a good-natured weather at their end right now.

Lady Tee shared some delicious slices of her world with us.

So, how’s your end holding up?
