Excellent Quotes From Yesterday:
Bella: I am a peaceful and contented Soul. I am Calm, Still, and Happy. I am Whole and Healthy. I have the courage to face all situations. I can do this. www.thoughtsnlifeblog.com
Bernadette: Thankfulness is the soil in which joy thrives.
Ksbeth: gratitude always.
Mandibelle “So fill your heart with what’s important, and be done with all the rest.” Perhaps, we can choose our focus in life, and choose what we take to heart. Those things that hurt us or are not worth our time, should not be our goal to fix, change, or dwell on. Instead, we must focus on those things that better ourselves, our loved ones and families — things and thoughts that better the world. Forget the non-issues, or things we can’t control, that make us miserable and upset for no significant reason.”
BellyBytes: And the sun is always shining out there somewhere. So I won’t let the greyness get me down.
Marcellina Oparaoji “Things never go the way you expect them to. That’s both the joy and frustration in life. I’m finding as I get older that I don’t mind, though. It’s the surprises that tickle me the most, the things you don’t see coming.”
― Michael Stuhlbarg

What About You? Affirmation Challenge Day 2
Today, I’m blessed with a sound mind. I’m filled with love in my heart for myself and for others. Today, I make an effort to appreciate something about every person that I interact with.

Excellent Quotes From Yesterday:
From Raili at Soul Gifts: Here’s my quote for today. I let Louis Hay’s book of affirmations fall open and this is what I got – “I allow love to flow freely. My supply of love is endless.”
From E Leukhardtblog “Life is a roller-coaster. There are ups, there are downs. But you always end up relieved and smiling. Hold on to the safety rail so you can always be smiling. “
From Mandibelle: “Love her but leave her wild” – by Atticus. This one has stuck with me awhile, and when I thought about it I concluded that to be loved but yet “wild” to be our natural self, and not have to be “tamed” or trapped by another, is a good goal in relationships and friendships. Choosing to be tamed by someone you love such as the fox in ‘the little prince,’ is one thing. But having a choice and even finding that within being tamed, you can still be wild and not have to hide your true self is important. To be loved for your wildness — your flaws and your good qualities is the best kind of love. It’s a love that doesn’t control each other or defines each other in a narrow box but allows each person to grow and be themselves within relationships, It forgives and doesn’t try to make someone be who they are not. It’s loving without a need to dictate one’s lover or friend’s behaviour and choices.
From Susieshy45: You are your own best friend- is my quote for today. You know what is best for you. While others are good in the physical sense, no human being can be 100% for you as you yourself.
and a couple of my lovely friends on Facebook joined in:
From Marcellina Oparaoji: Here’s is mine. I so believe in this:
“I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself. For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined not by our circumstance but by our disposition.” ― Martha Washington

She Said, I Said…
She said to me.
there’s a storm brewing in my soul,
and chaos sits in the pit of my stomach
and I said to her,
grab the sails and ride the treacherous wind,
write up a storm and smash chaos with your words.

Hello…It’s Me

I dialled to say hello
anticipating your upbeat response
from hello, I was going to say more
but most importantly
I needed to hear the assurance of your voice
Your cell phone rang many times
and I waited with bated breath
but there was no voice in response
The truth like a swift dagger
I’ll never hear your voice again
Was it clutched in your hands
when he struck with deadly intent
did your blood splash on its screen
over the image of your bright eyes
shining through your screen saver
A million rhetorics race through my mind
of things I should have said or done
of plans, we had made together
of how things made no sense
of how you are no more
I dialled your number
your phone rang in the grass
where it lay fallen
cut off just like its owner
its upbeat ringing tone
subdued like a dirge

I wrote this poem yesterday with my home country Nigeria in mind. Nigeria celebrated its Democracy day, but we are far from democracy. According to late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, it’s more like ‘demonstration of craze.’
The butchering of innocent citizens by Fulani herdsmen dominates the news each day, gory photos of men, women and children slaughtered in their homes, in their farmlands too horrifying to look at, yet, the Ostrich of a President does absolutely nothing. Could it be that he chose to turn a blind eye because ‘he is Fulani’?
I try to keep away from political issues as much as possible, but when we keep silent evil continues to triumph and it saddens me to see a beautiful, blessed Nation destroyed by avarice and criminals called leaders.
Times in Your Life To Consider Health Supplements
In an ideal world, you should be able to get all the nutrients and minerals that you need from the food that you consume on a daily basis. However, there may be times in your life that you need the boost which is provided by health supplements.

Of course, you need to know more about the different options available. Just a few of the most common include fish oils, multivitamins, magnesium, vitamin D and vitamin B12. It is worth consulting with your doctor about the benefits of these various substances to you. So, here are a few of the most common times in your life when it may be appropriate to take health supplements.
When You Have Vitamin or Mineral Deficiencies
If you have had a blood test which shows that you have deficiencies in certain vitamins or minerals, you may want to take supplements as a way of correcting this imbalance. Your doctor will be able to advise you as to which ones are appropriate for your particular deficiency or deficiencies.
When You Have Dietary Restrictions
Whether you have dietary restrictions which are caused by your health or a lifestyle choice such as veganism, you may not be getting some of the minerals and vitamins that you require. The supplements which you take may be able to fill in the gaps and help to give you the greater sense of balance that you are looking for.
When You Are Pregnant
There are plenty of nutrients out there which have shown to play a major part in preventing birth defects and promoting the health of your baby. Your obstetrician is best-placed to give you direct advice about pre-pregnancy and pregnancy supplements which can play a useful role in the healthy development of your baby.
When You Are Getting Older
As we age, our calorie requirements adjust and the amount that you eat can start to decrease. When this happens, you may end up getting fewer vitamins and minerals in your diet. Once again, this is where health supplements can play a role in picking up the slack.
When You Take Medications Which Lead to Deficiencies
There are all sorts of medications out there which can end up leading to mineral and vitamin deficiencies. You can even end up being unable to absorb a range of essential nutrients. The best course of action is to work with your health professionals who will help you to select the right supplements for you.
When you are deciding on which supplements to take, you also need to consider what other food you are eating which are a source of that particular vitamin or mineral. You don’t want to risk exceeding your maximum intake levels as this can end up having the opposite impact on the one that you were intending. As we have mentioned a couple of times in this article, you are always better off consulting with your doctor if you are at all unsure.

Right at my homes’ doorstep
I free body parts trapped in what-not,
it’s always a blessed relief!
Everything freely wiggles and jiggles

Our Times, Our Spirituality… Thoughts For Tuesday
Our times are fraught with stress and quick-fixes. A fast-forward micro-waved lifestyle that’s corrosive. We may need to relearn how to enjoy life on the slow ‘cos life is not a drive-thru and you are not in competition with anyone but yourself.
Our lives should be a daily spiritual experience even in the mundaneness of it all. We must make concerted efforts to be in tune with our inner selves and this is not on an experience that can be placed on speed dial. It is a cultivated practice that doesn’t involve spending hundreds of hours in euphoric states of levitation.
Of course, there are times when we might experience a big spiritual AHA moment and there are incidents that may leave us in deep reflection and awe but at all times but as we go through the process of living life, our lives should be a reflection of certain things:
A Beacon of peace and humanity
A Testimony of faith and hope
A Source of Love, strength and goodwill
Of Mercy, laughter and joy (irrespective of the dark clouds that seek to hover).
Of acceptance and love of yourself so that you can be able to love someone else (if you have none, you can’t give any)
Of the goodness that you wish to see in the world.
There will always be two sides of everything; Light and Dark and this equally exists with spirituality. There is the Light side of spirituality and the Dark side of spirituality.
It is up to us to choose the path on which we wish to walk.
Shalom
