Write Garbage, Edit Brilliantly! ….Writer’s Quote Wednesday

1458140519729[1]

If you can tell stories, create characters, devise incidents, and have sincerity and passion, it doesn’t matter a damn how you write.
– Somerset Maugham

It is perfectly okay to write garbage—as long as you edit brilliantly.
– C. J. Cherryh

The above quotes repeats in my head when I think of my writing and encourages me to trudge along.

Someone once asked me how I decided that I am writer and my simple response that I have lots of stories to tell which left a blank look on her face made me feel as if I spoke Greek. Now and again, her blank face surfaces in my memory and I begin to question myself.

When I am struggling to put down the riotous thoughts in my head into a readable format, the question rises again and sometimes, a tiny voice of doubt tells me, ‘YOU ARE A FRAUD!’ WRITER YOU ARE NOT!

I have learnt to slap and shut the impish voice down, to go ahead and scribble my nonsense and leave it at that.

Well, seeing such quotes from established authors does tickle my fancy bone, and I have come to realize that there is no perfect writer. We  just write that which needs to be written and leave it at that.

Sometimes, it pours heavily….

Today, I have so much to say, yet I fail to know where to start from.

Life is such that we honestly have no inclination what the next hour will bring our way, much less the next day, week or year.

Our lives hang in the daily delicate balance of providence and most times, we don’t get to chose what happens to us, but the only thing that we can choose is how to react to the curves on the path of our journey and not losing grip of ourselves.

We also get to choose friends who journey along with us on life’s path and a whole lot of times, they serve as a prop and support on those shaky days.

My heart knows a lot of thanks for the restoration of health of my family members and an enormous sense appreciation for the huge outpouring of gracious wishes from all of you on my birthday on Sunday.

Your thoughts warmed me.

Regardless of the fact that online relationships may appear untenable due to it’s nature, we should never fail to appreciate or undermine the strength and support that we have in our friends and we truly have no idea the beautiful far reaching effects of these friendships.

Nature’s Bounty….

It’s’ my belief that most of us have the natural inclination to look up to the skies early in the mornings and throughout the duration of each given day.

Sometimes, I spend times looking at the clouds shapes and twist up silly tales depending on what the cloud represents. This we do especially when on a long drive. I ask my children to look at a could and identify an animal or any object and say something in relation to the object found.

‘Nature is bountiful in giving and when we look deeply, we have communion with it for the poetry and stories hidden in the clouds and on Earth are endless.‘ Jacqueline Oby-Ikocha

Below is a composition of some of the photos that I took at different times for today’s Photo 101 theme ‘Natural World.’ None has been edited.

Abandoned…

For two days running, I have seen this abandoned scooter and I am wondering which child left it behind. There’s a park close by.

Tongue in cheek, I dare say it belongs to a boy, from mere deductions of the Ben 10 image on it and the colour as well.

I bet he will tell his mother that he doesn’t know who took it 😉

I would have loved to be there and to see his wide-eyed innocence when he says ‘I don’t know who took it.’

So many scenarios have played in my head and I am writing a children’s story about it 🙂

Walking energizes me both physically, spiritually, mentally and so much more.

Oh this is fun

And I want a bun

It’s time for lunch

Or better still let’s have a brunch

A kettle of Cardamon tea

And a slice of vanilla cake

A sip of rich coffee

And that bite of apple pie

There might be a carafe of table wine

With lots of grapes so divine

I think I spy some Easter bunnies

Please do hand me the honey

A medley of this and that

It will be a lively chat.

This is an invitation to a Pre-EASTER Brunch, taking place this weekend in this abode from Saturday 19th to Sunday 20th.

Come let’s dance into Spring with a spring in our steps.

Do keep a date and you’ll be glad you came.

I set a day reminder at the top corner of the right bar.

It will be good to have you here.

”Share as much as you…

Midnight Motivations and Musings # 33

When all we do is to talk and we don’t do, it then becomes Cock and Bull story.

Our reflections and introspection must try to match our conducts for any meaningful change to occur and this applies to every aspect of our lives that requires change and growth.

Some might say ‘oh yes, it’s in the plan, tomorrow I will do it,’ yet five years down the line, their tomorrow is still waiting to arrive.

The future belongs to all those who embrace constant growth transformation and exploring its directions.

Your future does not know waiting because the future is right now as we  speak.

Getting Stuck…Ronovan’s weekly poetry haiku challenge.

Ronovan’s  Haiku prompt for this week ‘lift and plan’ gave me a lot of options, but I settled for these two. I enjoyed playing around with both words.

She got stuck in the creaky lift

The lights went off suddenly

That was simply not in the plan!

************

With no plan in place

and funds finished

She thumbed for a lift.

Big Things and My Haunches…

What an interesting theme we have today for photo 101 class; ‘Big and Point of view.’

The title brings out the naughtiness in me, but I shall leave it at that 😉

There’s no problem finding big things around here. A whole lot of stuff comes in huge sizes especially the buildings, so I felt, easy-peasy, let me go and get some shots.

Where the trick lay is in the POV that asked us to crouch or lie on the ground and get some interesting angles of big things 😉

I was just a few yards short of my husband thinking that I have lost my marbles with my dodgy moves to get interesting shots and asking him to stop every few meters *he was almost at his tethers end when I felt that I had enough material, besides he had to go for important money matters 😉

I also raised a couple of Arabian eyebrows with my squatting and crouching like a Tigress about to spring a surprise 🙂

All in all, it’s been a fun assignment. I just hope we won’t have to use parachutes next.

My haunches received some good squats today 😉
