A wordsmith with a vivid imagination, an eager mind and a burning desire to carve out tales. As I journey with my muse to that land of all possibilities and self discovery, I hope my personal evolution will serve as a beacon of inspiration for anyone who chooses to stop by.
Let me introduce you to my latest strategic partner, Anna. We connected and have been interacting in the blogosphere for over many months. Anna uses her blogging platform to share her experiences with Type 2 Diabetes as well as sharing helpful, educative and informative articles on how to manage this independently. I don’t have Diabetes, but I read her posts and find them quite useful and often filled with humourous anecdotes.
I’m urging her to think of writing a little memoir or self-help book of an ordinary woman living with Diabetes 🙂
In her own words on her about page, you can get to know Anna much better. Please do say hello. I am restricting comments here and you could show Anna some love and comment on her blog.
P.S. Would you like to partner with me? You can shoot me an email: JacquelineObyIkocha@gmail.com or through the contact page on my blog.
This is mango season and the delicious fruit abounds in the fruit stalls right now.
Taking advantage of its sweetness asides from juicing them and making smoothies, they can be used in fresh salads as well.
I made this platter yesterday evening and you have to take my word for it that it’s yummy and of course, you are welcome to give it a try 🙂

2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
1 lemon, juiced
1/4 flat leaf parsley leaves, chopped
1 long red chilli, deseeded and chopped (optional)

Preparation Steps:
Combine the Olive oil with the lemon juice and add the parsley and chilli if you are using chilli.
Combine the chicken, mango, salad greens, tomato (optional), and cucumber (optional) in a large bowl. Drizzle your dressing, toss lightly to mix and serve.
On Thursdays, I share pictures about ‘Echos of my Neighbourhood.
I would like to invite you to participate. The challenge is quite simple and you can find out more about it through this link.
Cityscape Dubai is the largest and most influential real estate exhibition in the Middle East/Gulf region. This years’ exhibition concludes today, 8th September and over 300 companies from the UAE and abroad showcased their ambitious and beautiful building projects.
It’s a key event during which developers, architects, investors, real estate professionals, city building authorities and interested citizens gather in one place. Investors get to buy properties off plan or almost completed and resell or rent to turn a good profit.
I have always believed in property investment, but I am not yet fortunate enough to afford the steep cost of investing in property over here. Who knows, maybe when I sign that bestseller of mine, then I may just be rolling in enough wad to invest, but hey, it doesn’t hurt to look and know what’s available out here.
What I marvel at is the precision and beauty of the architectural designs on display. There was so much to look at that I could barely get around in my hours of attending the exhibition.
The bright and shiny pink door beckoned to me to step inside. Of course, I had to satisfy my curiousity and took a peek.
Everything inside is pretty, shiny and smells good too and would possibly dent my account. I solidly resisted the whispered encouragements of the bottles of Arabian night perfumes and walked away with my plastic intact 😉
Having spent two scores on Earth, I know from experience that life’s manual is not built to be easy by default. Yes, some may get more free rides than others now and again, but all of us have issues that we are battling with which does seem overwhelming at times.
For days, waves of anger and depression have lurked under the surface of my emotions and I have found myself snapping and breathing fire like a Dragon over minor issues at my family; as a matter of fact, after tossing and turning at night over the issues behind my mood, this morning during our quick prayer session, I had to apologise to my children for my snarling and snapping at them unnecessarily, because I not only have to be accountable for any bad behaviour on my part and the possibility that I hurt their feelings through my expressions, I equally have to teach them by example.
I could list loads of reasons behind my poor thoughts and depressed feelings at present and choose to marinate in them as well, but going down that track only creates more chaos, ill-feelings within me and most likely won’t resolve my challenges.
Would I wish that everything is in perfect shape? Yes! Of course. Is it ever going to be perfect? NO! The lesson that I have learnt over time is that by focusing on the small things that are not going as well as one wants, takes away the focus on all the blessings that we’ve received.
Sometimes we have to pull ourselves up by the bootstraps and jumpstart our gratefulness. I had to start praising and expressing my gratefulness and not only did I feel a shift in my soul but calming answers dropped into my heart.
The power of praise uplifts and opens up the spirit while the spirit of gratitude takes little and turns into a lot. I enjoy listening to the renditions of “Women of Faith.”
There are several gratitude/thankful platforms in the blogosphere that you can tune into and get your ithankful going on. I can’t express in words the enormity of Joy and fulfilment that comes from having a heart of gratitude. Please check out Maria’s blog, Colline’s blog and Bernadette’s for thankful/gratitude challenges.
