We over plan for tomorrow, yet today has been left with so many gaps unfilled.
How do you guarantee that you have tomorrow at hand?
Did you use your today to the best of it’s ability? Note that I said, ‘it’s ability, not your ability.’
Remember that each day that passes is forever lost to us.
Therefore, in all that you do; work, play, rest, love, care, share and the rest of things humans do, do it to the best of your ability and the full capacity of your day.
Our lives are only worth what we make of it and it’s not the length of one’s days that really matter, but the depth of how they lived.

That’s a good one. Whatever we decide to do today has a ripple effect morrow. We just have to use each day effectively and wisely. My day went well, and yours?

Mine went well too. Each of the days of our lives all add up doesn’t it. The good and the bad, so it’s better the good outweighs the bad.

Great! Yes, it does. That’s what we should all aim at.

Indeed sis, I was just reflecting in my thoughts of how “living in the moment” is so important. If we don’t rejoice in the present, we lose a blessing. We are to have joy and peace irrespective of the storm but all too often people don’t want to do what they need to in order to receive the peace and joy (i.e., therapy, meds, exercise). There’s always a “present” in living in the moment. Blessings and have a fun-filled weekend! Emma

Well said. When they fail to do the needful, it remains a constant of whine and misery. We have to have joy irrespective of our storms. Thank you sis Emma for your wise words.

The images you put up makes me miss Dubai!
A beautiful post – there’s no guarantee of that tomorrow, so the best thing to do is to live in the moment.

I can well imagine. Sometimes, someone puts up an image of Houston or Lagos and the pangs hit me. Thank you for your words. Tomorrow is guaranteed no one.

I often say that the reason I’m good at what I do is because I’m fully there. I often can’t remember things in the not so distant past and my planning is generally done during my transition times (driving, waiting, etc.) I try to keep an eye out for the small beautiful things that God puts in my path! These are what make life worth living!

It is sad to think of a day being gone forever after it passes. It reminds me of a story told about Titus, said to be one of the better Roman Emperors. His Wikipedia entry puts it like this:
“As Emperor he became known for his generosity, and Suetonius states that upon realising he had brought no benefit to anyone during a whole day he remarked, ‘Friends, I have lost a day.'”

How profound! He lived each day with a defined goal. Thanks for sharing this.

You’re welcome, Jacqueline. I remembered because I was touched by the story when I first heard it.

Jacqueline I love the quote, but you know what they say since you quoted it: “Yesterday is gone, tomorrow hasn’t arrived, but today is a gift which is why we call it the present” enjoy your Sunday xo
