Stream of Consciousness Saturday.

Yesterday’s Dreams – Stream of Consciousness Saturday

Ghosts of
yesterday’s dreams
lie beaten
in the abyss
of unrequited desires
crushed and dejected
stretching bony limbs
that wraps
skeletal fingers around legs
dragging its’ bony frame along
and
slowing down
today’s dreams

Let us
bury yesterday
say our goodbye’s
with tears in our eyes
to dreams aborted
like unwanted fruits
embrace with a purpose
golden opportunities
of today dreams
that we may profit
from its’ fruits
lest they fall
like yesterday.

Do step in and show some love.

Could I have just a little more time? I read this heartfelt post and could empathize as well as relate. There are those moments in time when we wish that we could switch time just a wee bit, but each day, life teaches me a lesson that the love we receive from our loved ones is given freely despite our warts and all.

Life Cameos I totally enjoy Life Cameo’s poetry’s and prose. She has a way of bringing everyday people and life into words that leave me satisfied as though I read a full novel in few stanzas.

Dear Self Lovely post and idea. I think I’ll write myself a letter for Christmas.

Teeny tiny itty bitty One word is cute. How do people fit into this itty, bitty cars?

How do you define a good woman? Who is a good woman? Are you the exceptional Proverbs woman? Well, I, Jacqueline ain’t one! A thought-provoking read for you.

Wordless Wednesday creative, fun and eerie to look at 🙂

Oddball This made me smile. Sweet and babyish but I like it 🙂

Going in This would be my best read for today. Raw, candid, painful, sweet, and teary too. Addiction and handling it is not easy on the sufferer as well as their loved ones. Please read.

Curry bard Now this is a lovely poem. I enjoyed the images created, the sound of the trundling train, the waft of curry dishes. A good read for today.

Self a mirage we swing through these emotions, edging on the highs of elation, depression, and oppression. Life is certainly a rollercoaster.

The Bitter Truth…Writer’s Quote Challenge

invitation-shel-silverstein

“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” Seneca

I’ve written and deleted my post many times, not because I’m at loss for words but because the spurious well of churning words seeking to escape my thoughts are so disjointed that I don’t even know how to bridle them.

I will borrow the quote Bernadette gave for the writer’s quote inaugural week to try and cobble my words together. How apt this quote is for this tumultous week of new beginning. Is this the beginning to the end of things? Only time will tell.

You feign that you care about others

while in the secrecy of your dark soul

you wish to take away the rights of other living souls

You feign that you are a free world

while in the darkness of your fields

lie the spirits of broken men

You ache to regain toe hold

over your reign of terror on people’s lives

when you could whip them into submission to your will

You ache that things should be

the way they were before

when others had to cower before you in fear

You remember your days of old glory

your days of supremacy

and you want to reconstitute your free lynching

The truth is that

you will never gain back that

which your hateful soul desperately seeks

The truth is that

times have moved on and so will it remain

‘cos no one is going to cower in fear of your bullying and cowardice

The truth is that

no one is going to stay at the back of the bus any more

while old men steer us to destruction

The truth is that

this is the dawn of a new beginning

and may well be the start of a revolution.

The truth is that

no matter how you strive to keep others down

the fighting spirit of a free soul will always rise against you.

Sublime Scars – From Kavita Chavda

Displaying sublime scars.jpg

She loved moonlight, raindrops and

the beauty of nature around the fields of crops

and as other things that have soul

because she often feels the universe’s call.

All her scars shined bright in the moonlight

when universe asked about her ugly scars.

The things she could not reveal

to anybody but herself

because she bleeds in colours

that this world does not understand.

They said, understand soul?

Soul with ugly scars?

She said it’s the

soul that reveals love.

Soul that reveals purity.

After the years of pleading,

purity of the soul finally shined

under the moonlight

with love shred like raindrops.

Rononvan's Weekly Haiku Challenge

Love – Ronovan writes weekly haiku challenge

When I saw Ronovans’ prompt for this week’s haiku, ‘heart and petals,’ my romantic thoughts drifted to love. I am a die-hard romantic realist – whatever that means. Ha, ha 😉

Heart-shaped petals

You laid petals for me,
my heart you captured
with actions of pure love.

Meet Robin Baldwin and Her Gorgeous Family

I simply love getting to know folks better in this space. I keep thinking that one day in the near future, there’ll be a facetime opportunity to meet with all those whom I’ve connected with over these past months of blogging.

When you interact with someone for a while their warmth seeps through their words and Robin is one of the lovely souls I have been interacting with in this space and I believe in connecting my friends. Please, I implore you to take a bit of time to visit her blog and say hello.

Thank you, dear Robin, for sharing bits of you with us 🙂Image result for images to thank you flower

A bit about me

My name is Robin Baldwin. I was born and raised in Southern California, where I still live. I have a Bachelor’s degree in business and a Master’s degree in mass communication. I am a senior manager at IEEE Computer Society and have worked there for 21 years.

I have been married for 19 years to my amazing husband, Michael. He is a wonderful life partner and father to our daughters.

I am a Christian and believe in the power and beauty of God. I converted to being Catholic about a year after my daughters were baptized at our church. So spirituality is an important theme in my poetry.

I try to have a positive outlook on life whenever possible. I treat others like I want to be treated and I always want the underdogs to win.

A bit about my blog

On my blog, you will find thoughts, mostly poems, about what’s going on in my life through the views of the various roles I assume in any given moment: mom of twins, wife, daughter, friend, manager, woman, spiritual seeker.

I’ve written poetry on and off throughout the years since I was a teenager. In the last several years I’ve been busy working and parenting, but lately, I’ve found small windows of opportunity to write. It has made me want to write more, so I decided to start a blog as a creative outlet.

I have been amazed at the generous support and love this blogging community gives. It keeps me motivated to keep writing.

One of my initial poems for my blog is at https: My Table

I also write a lot about my daughters, so this is my most recent post about when my husband and I decided to let our twins room in separate rooms for their class field trip: These Girls

How I keep motivated with blogging

I keep writing about the things that matter most to me. Seeing the likes, comments, and follows really helps!

What’s your most challenging moment in your blogging journey so far?

None so far and Yes, I would totally encourage others to blog! Especially if you ever wondered if you have what it takes to be a writer. The feedback from this wonderful WordPress community is empowering.

20161016_085712

My typical day

I am up by 6:30 am to get ready for the day. Then I wake up my girls up and get them going for school. I take them to school and then go to work. I usually have several meetings each day either with my team or with colleagues to discuss various projects we’re working on.

After work, I meet up with my family at home where we have dinner together (my husband is the cook and makes fabulous meals!). While the girls finish homework, my husband and I try to catch up on each other’s days.

In the near future

I don’t have any specific plans for my blog other than to continue to keep nurturing it by posting at least a couple of times per week, visiting other blogs, and participating in blog parties like the ones you host each month.

However, my next goal in writing is to submit to poetry publications. And, now that I think about it, some day in the future I might publish a book of my poetry.
