Everyday People

Movement of the people – Every day beautiful people 77

“Take action! An inch of movement will bring you closer to your goals than a mile of intention.” Dr. Steve Maraboli

“In the midst of movement and chaos, keep stillness inside of you.” Deepak Chopra

“The more I traveled, the more I realized that fear makes strangers of people who should be friends.” Shirley Maclaine

‘One of the great things about travel is that you find out how many good, kind people there are.” Edith Wharton

I can’t say it enough, there’s nothing as interesting as observing people. You wonder who they are, where they are going, what’s their story etc.

In a microcosm such as the airport, the train, the buses, the malls, anywhere you can find a throng of people, it’s quite informative what you learn about someone just by looking.

Are they fussy, tantrum throwers, are the fidgety, composed, smiling, frowning?…. It’s a free movie!

My Thinking Corner

Tuesdays Trickles – My thinking corner 28

Every Tuesday, I share snippets of thoughts that I call ‘My Thinking Corner.’

I would like to invite you to participate. The challenge is quite simple. You can check this link for more details.

focus[1]

♣ When you focus on the goodness in your life, you create more of it.

♣ Where do you want to be? That’s where your focus should be. Don’t stop to be distracted by all the side attractions or run after what everyone else is doing. What is your focus? Keep your eyes on it so that you can reach your destination.

It’s easy to get pulled into all the things that takes our mind away especially the negative things that seems to pervade the entire space. Always remember to pull yourself back and not to get sucked into the energy depleting vibes and negativism.

Below are more snippets of wisdom from awesome bloggers. Take a moment to read.

Today’s Nuggets: don’t fold or clip your wings. Don’t limit yourself. This is worth the read.

Inner Peace: beautiful words that are worth adopting for daily and peaceful living.

The path to true greatness: a short and delightful piece of wisdom that you will enjoy. It made me smile.

Words of wisdom: what advice are you dishing out to others? Will you take the same if offered?

Quotes worth repeating: there are quotes that you keep at the fore front of your mind and these ones from Muhammad Ali are priceless.

I hope that you find these little drops useful now and again. Do check them out and please share snippets of your thoughts with us.

Thanks and blessed be.

Everyday People

Yikes! Scalping! – Every day beautiful people 76

“Sometimes, what we pay for looking good is not just paper currency but the price of discomfort.” Jacqueline Oby-Ikocha

I literally shuddered and ouched severally in my head as I watched this interesting scalp grooming.

It wasn’t the usual hair clipper that I see men use these days but a rather effective and shudder inducing switch blade that was pretty sharp and ran smoothly in the hands of the barber or is it hair stylist that the men call it? Not sure.

I doubt if I will be brave enough to submit myself for this.

I absolutely love this book of poems. My favorites are “Love Rations” (for those who love to give the silent treatment) and “Beggars Supper” (which definitely pulls at the heart strings). Two thumbs up!!

Midnight Motivations and Musings 104

To draw a line between fear-based and love-based decisions can be daunting even when our choices are made out of love.

However, we can get better hold and clarity of our choices when we invest a little time in thinking over the basis of our decisions. Am I doing this because I am afraid? If I wasn’t afraid, would this still be my choice?

Try to get to that fearless place in your imagination and figure out those thoughts and decisions that still have energy and those that their fire has dwindled when the steam of anxiety/fear is taken out.

Choices made out of love and true conviction are far more enduring.

Short Stories

The successor…

Jack sat in the deep leather armchair to ruminate over the surprising news. His mind dwelling on bittersweet memories as he remembered his dad.

Faint aroma of tobacco from Woolfe’s pipe clung to the room as if unwilling to let go, even though he has been dead for three months now and unbidden tears seeped through Jack’s eyes.

His dad had been his best friend and hero until Suzie happened to them. Suzie was Woolfe’s secretary.

An affair happened, Suzie got pregnant, Jack’s mother got mad, a messy divorce took place that when his mother died a year later in an accident, Jack was sure she had died from a bitter and broken heart. She had driven off the cliff after binge-drinking and life was never the same.

Suzie’s pinched lips and surprised look on her botoxed face expressed displeasure when the Will was read. The reins of the successful firm were meant for her son Woolfe Jnr and possibly a meagre share left to Jack, instead, eighty percent of the holdings went to Jack while they got twenty.

Mundane Monday

Will this become mundane?

Mundane Monday Challenge is created to find beauty in almost everything.

The challenge is simple : find beauty in everyday mundane things, capture the beauty and upload the photographs.

Sports_car_1[1]sports_car[1]

The two exhibits are not mundane objects in the least. Possibly, they are objects of fantasy for some people, but what drew my attention is the fact that they are electrically charged, therefore they are supposed to be eco-friendly.

I can’t very well say that I understand the technology, but having been inside one of the eco-friendly taxis in Dubai, I asked the driver how it is compared to the fuel driven car, he was full of accolades.

If this will reduce the fossil fuel burning, excavation, pollution and corrupt practices that has been associated with crude oil and gas, then this might just be the way to go in the near future.

I hope that they actually become ordinary.
