To Live – My Thinking Corner

To exist is easy. So many are doing that already. What is far more challenging is to live. Jacqueline Oby-Ikocha

To live means to experience life and to truly experience life, you have to open all the windows to your soul.

The gift of the senses is given to us to maximise this opportunity. Stop and admire the flowers and your surroundings, listen to the buzz of life around you, see others with different eyes’,  listen to hear and not just to reply, touch – embrace not just the familiar, taste something new, be adventurous, inhale deeply and identify the various smell.

Don’t just go through the motion of getting through the day. Open up your mind and live. Take an active role in your own development. Take advantage of your own potentials and uniqueness. Keep reaching for richer, deeper, life-changing experiences.

Your life is a story that only you’ve lived to tell. Write it like no one else could.

They searched high, they searched low

In nooks and crannies, far and wide

They looked to find, dragging so much behind

Not knowing that within them is all that they are searching for

My Thinking Corner – Set Your Pace

3-1

Sometimes, in the bid to aspire and to achieve, a lot of people over reach their purpose and passion.

This is most especially witnessed in today’s World where lives are lived on social media, in the eye of all and sundry and success is judged by the number of likes checked off in a box.

The litmus test should always be this question: ‘why am I doing XYZ?’ ‘searching the recesses of my heart and mind, would I find that am I truly contented with what I’m doing?’ ‘If not, why?’

The answers to your silent litmus should tell you all that you need to know because the truth is when you set off doing something without your own driving conviction and doing it because Mr. QED is doing so, chances are that it would simply become another White Elephant project.

Lady Cee shares 3 succinct tips for making successful life changes.

For several weeks my blogging has been in a rut or should I use a more colourful word ‘funk.’

I don’t lack the ideas of what to write and actually, I  have about a 106 blog posts sitting in my draft waiting for me, yet I lacked the zeal and felt uninspired to look at them.

Whittling down my blogging and trying to understand my inertia made me realize that what I crave is change. I’ve kind of fallen into auto-blogging and it started to feel like same old, same old routine.

The question that bounces without any answer is, what am I going to do differently?

Frank Sinatra’s words come to my mind;

So take a deep breath

Pick yourself up

Dust yourself off

Start all over again

I am probably going to revamp my blog, do a new thing or two. So, if you find yourself in a funk now and again, just keep calm. Sometimes, all we truly need is a little time, a change of pattern and even a fresh coat of paint works for the blog as well 🙂

This Season…My Thinking Corner

img_5257

This is my favourite season of the year and yes it’s because it’s Christmas. It is not just a season of joy, a time to be with our loved ones’, to give and possibly receive, but also a time that we should not forget the reason for the season.

We shouldn’t forget that not everyone around us is blessed with a circle of family and friends to share and spend the season with, therefore, let us reach out to those who are less unfortunate in our midst and spread the cheer and joy with them. Let us be messengers of love and bear the true fruits of brotherhood.

It’s a blessing to bless others and not just to sit on the sidelines watching others give of themselves. There’s always a little way to be a blessing to others.

Sometimes, I feel that the over commercialized aspect of the season has desensitized many people to the fact the Christmas is not just a time to make merry and be jolly. In the midst of making merry, may we not forget the Christ in Christmas.

May the abiding Grace and Peace of God be with you and yours.

Here’s a little tune I played on my keyboard for you.

Whatsoever you do

To the least of my brothers

that you do unto me

When I was hungry you gave me to eat

when I was thirsty you gave me to drink

now enter in to the home of my father.

How many times do we catch ourselves making plans for months to come when we’ve not finished living in the day that we are given?

Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that we shouldn’t plan for the future, but my question is, how much of the present are you living or are you simply existing and planning for a future that would most likely not occur as you planned?

It’s how we live our today that determines our tomorrow.

It takes a lot of patience with yourself to recognize your faults and to own them.

It equally takes twice the humility to resolve that you’ll do better in the future.

Ultimately, it takes patience to master and improve on who you are and whatever it is that you are doing. Anticipating instant success in changes that concerns us only opens up our thoughts and attitude towards impatience and frustration.

May you not tire in running your race.

Tuesdays’ Trickles – My Thinking Corner

picsart_11-01-08-04-201

This quote above is me talking to myself lately. I’ve embarked on different things and there are days that I wake up believing that I know what I am doing, but by the end of the day I just feel as though I am bumbling around mindlessly as though the hills that I have to climb are so high and the valleys cold and lonely.

On such days, I whisper a silent prayer of hope in my heart and holding on to my little seed of faith, I keep following the green light, knowing that all things work together for my own good.

In face of doubt, don’t relent. Take a deep breath and reevaluate. What is there to gain in turning away from your direction? What is there to gain in forging ahead? Much more. So, let’s keep on our course.

When we begin to feel guilt for failing in doing certain things, it’s a good indication that we are possibly overloaded.

It’s often better to cut out trivial chores and pastimes here and there and face the vital stuff until we are able to get it together.

It’s also okay to be kind to yourself when you fall behind. No! You don’t have superpowers 😉

Some days I’m stuck, not knowing what to write – I guess that’s why 50 blog post ideas and activities to beat the bloggers’ block is great, but I also realized that it’s okay not to be fully optimized in my thoughts every day. Some days, my brain just wants to be chill.

The difference between who you are right now and who you seek to be lie in what you choose to do. Are you taking the right steps?

♦  If you have a dream, yet you choose to do nothing, be rest assured that it will never materialize.

♦  A dream works when you work on it. It may be slow in arriving, but consistently taking the rights steps, slowly but surely will get you to your desired goal.
