iWitness…The Antics Of 2 Pigeons.

1455275990756[1]

Nature teaches us a lot of lessons if we open our eyes to see them and learn.

One of the reasons that I enjoy my little walkies as often as I can fit it in, is that I am always rewarded by stumbling on glimpses of the simple things that inspires my mind and gets me thinking.

My family have grown used to my two steps forward, two steps halt or back and a pause to assimilate something.

These little things are the best things in life and they are totally free. They bring me so much contentment and stimulation.

I took a not so brisk walk off my usual route and this scene of two pigeons trying to pick at crumbs which were scattered on the road caused me to pause, find a leaning spot and watch.

Why was it interesting? It interested me because they both courted danger with cars moving around them. Of course they could easily fly off if a car got too close and one of them did run off when the heat got too much.

The determined one doggedly kept darting back to the pecking spot at every given opportunity , vigorously filling itself while the scared one stood by the sidewalk cooing.

I think I spent a good five minutes or more observing this antics and taking a few photos.

As I watched them, I had several thoughts running in my mind and some of the lessons I learnt and I will write them in quotes are:

‘A little more effort and a little more persisting, that which seemed like it was a hopeless case, might actually become an opportunity for a resounding success.’

‘We should not give up on our quest at the very first sight of a barrier.’

And the last quote from William Eardley IV came to my mind:

‘That ambition is the path to success and persistence is the vehicle that you arrive in.’

One bird ran off, the other stood his ground and was well rewarded.

I want to thank Amra and Spiritual Journey  for inviting me to take part in the quotes challenge and I would like to extend the invitation to these three bloggers:

Lost Boy…Friday Fiction In Five Sentences.

The voice of the security rang sharply and intermittently over the Mall’s public address system.

‘There’s a missing child with us, he is four years old, he is dressed in brown slacks and a blue shirt, please contact the security to identify him,’ the speaker kept announcing.

This went on for hours, but no one came.

Little Ashif was tired, tearful, hungry and hoped Mama would come and get him soon; he promised to be a good boy, if only she would come.

As days passed no one came and the little boy wondered why she never came back, after all, he had been a good boy when she said he should stand and wait; he became the ward of the State.

P.S. This story came to me based on an experience at the Mall. A child went missing and the loud speakers went on for hours announcing and describing that child.

I was there for three hours or thereabouts and I left with a heavy mind. I wondered if the parents of that boy picked him up or not. I couldn’t help wondering how they misplaced him in such a huge mall in the first place.

*As a security caution, once we arrive any of the Malls here or anywhere, I look for the information desk and get a name tag band which my children wear on their wrists with my number and their dad’s own written on it, where that is not available, I write on a piece of paper and tuck it into their pockets, just in case there is a pandemonium or anything of the sort.

Midnight Motivations and Musings #4

1455112990060[1]

This is self-explanatory isn’t it?

The more you hold on to hope, no matter how tiny, the more it brims over.

Don’t allow the voice of pessimism drag you down and as much as possible, don’t engage in feeding yourself with all the negative back talk nor absorb other people’s negative diatribes.

It’s their opinion and it doesn’t have to be yours.

Remember that there is power in the tongue and the words you speak into your life, embeds in your mind. If therefore you keep speaking negative words, that negativity squashes any seed of hope planted in you.

Hold on to your hope. In everything!

I have a little quirk, but so do you…

Quirks are idiosyncratic habits that distinguishes us as individuals.1455205959464[1]

It may not necessarily be peculiar to us, but those close to us identify us with these little quirks which can be sometimes amusing or annoying.

It may or not be found attractive by your close ones, but they live with it out of love for you 😉

Please, there is a huge difference between bad manners and quirkiness. They are not interchangeable.

Some people behave badly and bad manners is not cute, period! I just had a little rant post, about such here.

For instance back home, we have something they call ‘African time’ it totally gets on my nerves.

You invite people for a ‘do’ that is scheduled to start at 2pm and they turn at 5pm and it’s viewed as normal.

I respect people’s time, so, whenever we are invited out back home, I will want to go on time, but my husband, will drag his feet until two hours later before we leave and truth be told, he is usually right, because others start arriving at that time and we are not left coming too early and possibly catching the hostess still in her hair net and night gown.

Personally, I had a habit of eating out of my husbands plate and feeding him tidbits of the day’s events. I wonder why his food always looked tastier – meanwhile, I am the one that prepared it.

The poor guy was askance and it took a while for him to get used to my dipping into his plate.

Funny enough, I have let go of this habit, which I got to realize that I picked up from my mother who used to do exactly the same thing with my dad all through their lives together. I was becoming my mother.

I let it go because my husband tends to eat late and it wasn’t helping my weight matters, now, he is the one trying to coax me to join him – looking for a partner in crime of eating late, though on some days he succeeds in persuading me 😉

1455077747633[1]

Hello and welcome.

Are you new to the choppy waters of the blogging World? Are you relatively young in Blog-Land * I am still young too, just a 9 months shy old baby* but I have a way of appearing old 😉

I know what it feels like to be a new kid on the block, wondering how I can find my footing and makes some friends.

Sometimes, it seems like a drag and takes ages, but we are here to support each other.

This is one place you can join and do some good stepping at my Valentine Shindig on the 13th/14th. Just a few days away.

It’s an opportunity to meet some awesome, lovely, friendly blogger friends of mine.

It shouldn’t be a worry that you don’t have so much going on in your blog at the moment.

Remember that ‘iron sharpens iron’ and you can get inspired from seeing what others are doing by mingling with them.

We are quite a supportive bunch to hang out with even if we do get to paint the town red a couple of times, it’s just in good faith 😉

Now don’t be shy. Join the party train to bubble and shuffle.

Looking forward to seeing you in your glad rags.

Enjoy a good day.

The Only 7 Star Luxury Hotel In The World…Echoes Of My Neighbourhood 9

On Thursday’s, I share a picture about ‘Echos of my Neighbourhood.

I would like to invite you to participate. The challenge is quite simple.

Every Thursday, share a photo of bits and pieces of wherever you are at any point in time. It could be houses, backgrounds of your neighbourhood, activities and so forth and you can tag it Echos of my Neighbourhood, add my link to your post so that I will get the ping from your post.

Every other Thursday, I will publish a post with the links of all those who participated the previous week.

This is just a fun way of getting to see more of the World around us through your eyes, since we cannot all be at those places, we can at least see them through you.

Without mincing words, the plushness of this luxurious hotel is fabulous.

Last week’s Echoes brought in quite some fresh views:

Sarah C gives us a sneak peek into her neighbourhood. Now wander over and say hey.

Writing in North Norfolk I tell you, there is something calming and enchanting about Norfolk. I could visualize a lovely wedding going on in that Church and someone rushing to that booth to call the Constable. Pictures put my imagination in overdrive.

Stella is trying her best to enchant us into moving to Copenhagen, Denmark.

Roaming Urban gypsy presents us with an irresistible ride. I can feel the vibes in there.

Kat’s lovely and scenic vacation spot of Hatteras Island is totally energizing. Even a non-poet will be able to wax some lyrics about these skies.

I enjoy Pancake Bunnykins fresh and on the spot views of her neighbourhood. Always a surprise tucked away in the corner.

Mandibelle‘s corner shows us what we all need and cherish in our lives. Solid bonds and foundation.

Never a dull bling‘s photos always brings delight to the eyes. There is a lot to look out for and such things captivate me.

I think I will go clicking some more.

So, when can we get a peek at yours? Pllllleeeeeaaasssseee  with a cherry on top 😉

Regards,

Those Steamy Smooches…The Great Big Book Of Lists.

I wonder what La Duchesse Derat has been up to these past few days to send me on an assignment to declare my hot steamiest smooches of all times.

Duchess, I am beginning to suspect your back-ache with a wiggle of my eyebrows 😃😃

It’s the season of Valentine and in the spirit of love I have gone watching smooch re-runs and using the steam emanating on my TV screen to judge.

I am a Hallmark romance kind of girl and I enjoy the build-up in the entire romance, so maybe I lost focus when it came to keeping the kissing counts, I am therefore totally lost in an attempt to list my favourite kisses.

I have spent an hour and half, fast tracking my favourite romance movies to the kissing part to try to analyse the kiss department of each one and my husband is beginning to wonder if I am up to something exceptional this Valentine.

Oh well! I cheated on this one as I stumbled on some videos on YouTube about some good puckering up that I quite agree with some *at least the movies that I have seen in them.

So pucker up and enjoy the smooch videos. Now I know to keep count of hot kisses when and where they do happen 😉
