A wordsmith with a vivid imagination, an eager mind and a burning desire to carve out tales. As I journey with my muse to that land of all possibilities and self discovery, I hope my personal evolution will serve as a beacon of inspiration for anyone who chooses to stop by.

On Thursday’s, I share pictures about ‘Echos of my Neighbourhood.
I would like to invite you to participate. The challenge is quite simple.
Every Thursday, share a photo of bits and pieces of wherever you are at any point in time. It could be a house, backgrounds of your neighbourhood, activities and so forth and you can tag it Echos of my Neighbourhood, add my link to your post so that I will get the ping from your post.
Every other Thursday, I will publish a post with the links of all those who participated the previous week.
This is just a fun way of getting to see more of the World around us through your eyes since we cannot all be at those places, we could, at least, see them through you.
Blooming flames
More flames
Resting under the flames of the forest
Charging phone at the free bus-stop charging point.
Purchasing tickets
I want that trolley of coconuts, but I only bought two 🙂
I had no idea Kenny Rogers had a roastery. I thought he only played country music. Out of curiosity, I stepped in…no country music was played.
Walkabout Union train station.
The lady in the remarkable outfit caught my eye
Random photo through the train window
Mall of the Emirates station. People lie under the Palms to relax
Tourists chilling under the stations overpass.
Took a moment to chill at this nice post. They have good sandwich.
I saw Montreal..oh well the hotel at least.
A white blinged up Stallion but I see no Sir Galahad 🙂
I didn’t see the owner. Would have loved to know what he sells, but since it’s Ramadan fasting time so no open sales of food items.
I’ve seen the large and interesting vending machine doting the cityscape. You can practically make your grocery purchases from it.
It’s all good that the trees and plants are blooming at this time of the year. The flame of the forest’s orange blooms are vibrant and offers people a colourful cool spot to take cover from the Sun that’s literally baking hot.
During the weekend’s, I always find a couple of hours when I disengage from family affairs and take that time to meander a bit about town and just be by myself.
All the photos in this series were taken last week Saturday. I traipsed or rather, took the bus, train and taxi to different parts of town and most weekends, tourists flood the city in droves.
We e-zoomed around various neighbourhoods on our laptops, pads, phones, and got a peek into what lovely folks are doing.
Like Mercury Colliding: Receiving natures serendipitous gift on your birthday can be such a delightful blessing. Kat makes me want to grow some Magnolia’s.
Jazzy Tower: Beautiful moments in life captured with a great sense of satisfaction.

The meaning of a book: a great post on a topic that most of us avoid like a plague. Borrowing Yinglan’s quote:
Religion and Politics. These are two topics you will never see me post on my blog. Why? Because those are two of the most opinionated and sensitive topics out there. Because those are two topics that essentially started wars and tore apart families, friends, and mankind. Because I dislike those two topics.
Playful Halloween costumes: Fun photos. It’s never too early to think ahead so you might get an idea or two from here.

“Books are a uniquely portable magic.” Stephen King
We buy books like the magical garden for the children but derive utmost pleasure from reading them and being child-like again 😉
Sometimes, I wonder who gets the most pleasure, the adult who is still a child at heart or the child who soaks up the words in innocent wonder?
I know a lot of us who enter bookstores and come out buying more books than we planned to 🙂
I am guilty all the time.

From the very first poem, “Dreams,” this book captivates with passionate and perceptive words. Jacqueline Oby-Ikocha captures a broad expanse of the human experience in this book of richly layered poems.
It’s been said a billion times and yes I will say it again, ‘life is too short to live miserably,’ and at the end of this living what exactly would you have achieved if misery has been your only destination?
There’s never going to be one Eureka moment when happiness runs up to you at a bus-stop and clings to your pants legs with eagerness to become your life tenant.
Neither is it something that someone else can hand over to you. The people around you may help in stimulating your state of happiness, but they don’t owe you the responsibility of making you happy and as a matter of fact, handing someone the reins to your happiness is a big mistake that you can’t afford to make.
It’s an active emotion that must be pursued daily and requires your contribution. The state of being happy is not a one-size fit all recipe, and each person has to find their own mental and emotional state of well-being which exists not because everything in their life is perfect but because they appreciate and enjoy their imperfect moments.
No one should sit and wait for happiness to happen to them because the state of happiness is not a destination you arrive at, but a continuous journey of the mind.
Blessed be.
Jacqueline

The cover of a book
is a door through a nook
that leads me down adventurous paths
where I’ve never been before.
The last book I read
had many tales to tell
of a maiden who sought adventure
and found true love’s treasure
She was a lass from Singapore
who wanted something more
she desired more of life’s pleasure
and set off on an adventure
She arrived in Dallas
where she met a bloke with class
a cool cowboy with a banjo
who twirled her in a tango.
Our prompt for this week’s Writers Quote Wednesday’s challenge is ‘adventure,’ a word that is synonymous to something exciting.
However, my question is does adventure have to be only when we set off on something grand to escape the ordinary?
If that’s the case then the greater part of our lifetime is lost when we fail to collect our little moments and turn our otherwise mundane life into an adventure of finding deep pleasure in the simple things.

With the ups and downs of life, sometimes, it’s difficult for your minds to clinch into a constant state of grace because most times our reflections are on auto drive on picking out the things that may not be going as we wish as against the other blessings that are pebble stones on our path and act as GPS to help us navigate back when we stray down the road of doubt and ingratitude.
Making a conscious decision to express gratefulness has made me more conscious and appreciative of the little things that I ordinarily took as a given and with this comes a greater sense of contentment and peace.
I’m totally grateful for the kindness received from those around me. To Tasha of Hit below the belt hard, I appreciate the slice of carrot cake you bought for me 😉
I’m grateful for the fact that though sometimes I fall short in my responsibilities as a parent and wife, my husband has been doing his best to remain my supportive backbone.
I don’t take these things for granted and I always encourage anyone to practice the state of gratitude not so much for the present state that you are in, but for the journey of the wonderful sense of contentment that it builds in you.
There’s always something to be grateful for and you will probably find so many when you look.

“Very little is needed to make a happy life; it’s all within yourself, in your way of thinking.” Marcus Aurelius
“Life is pretty much what we make of it and to finding peace and pause in the midst of a hectic day is the sweet spot.” Jacqueline
The weather has heated up quite a bit, but these men are able to find some repose on their push carts. The heat actually tends to make one feel a bit lethargic.

Diabetes management is not a one size fits all and why: It must be a struggle to live with an ailment that needs constant monitoring and a complete overhaul of lifestyle. I find Anna’s posts on Diabetes not only informative but humourous as well.
