Midnight Motivations and Musings 100

1466066800048[1]

Life is full of crooked paths that we don’t envisage, no matter how much we plan.

Of course, there are certain things that we can take charge of and brace ourselves for incidentals, but there’s really so much that one can do.

However, when we keep our minds on a positive track, we’ll find a way through that tight and crooked path onto a more suitable highway.

Writing is not an easy path at all. It’s not a journey to instant wealth, but when we look at the fulfilment derived and also know that our works will hopefully ingrain themselves on the sands of time, that is gratification that keeps you going through this windy and tedious path.

**today I realised that this is the 100th-midnight musings post and it amazes me that I’ve been able to keep up with it**

Dubai · Echos Of My Neighbourhood

Classic Vintage, a night out with beautiful people…Echoes of my neighbourhood 23

On Thursday’s, I share pictures about ‘Echos of my Neighbourhood.

I would like to invite you to participate. The challenge is quite simple.

Every Thursday, share a photo of bits and pieces of wherever you are at any point in time. It could be a house, backgrounds of your neighbourhood, activities and so forth and you can tag it Echos of my Neighbourhood, add my link to your post so that I will get the ping from your post.

Every other Thursday, I will publish a post with the links of all those who participated the previous week.

This is just a fun way of getting to see more of the World around us through your eyes since we cannot all be at those places, we could, at least, see them through you.

These are some bits and pieces of my past week, from taking children to Shotokan-karate classes, work, dinner blah, blah running helter-skelter, my wheel of life keeps rolling.

I absolutely love vintage and antique stuff. Unfortunately, I don’t have the pocket to afford them, but at least I can enjoy a good look at them, so it was a delight to run into this vintage cafe, where I can go and satisfy my eyes with eye-candy and take loads of photos 😉

I am happy that this week which has been so and so for me is coming to a close. My emotions hurtled from one end to the other all week, but a warm evening spent last night in the ambience of beautiful, intelligent friends does make one feel a lot better 🙂

We e-zoomed around various neighbourhoods on our laptops, pads, phones, and got a peek into what lovely folks are doing.

A beautiful season, London calling: yes I agree with you Lady Lee, London is calling me in the winds. Gorgeous photos.

Some bumper snickers from Kat: Ha, ha. This is a good exercise when you are stuck behind the wheels. Take a look and see what you can find 🙂

A beautiful evening: we all need this right now. A chance to destress and unwind. Simply serene.

Thoughts and entanglements: I love happening on such incidents. Makes you wear a smile all day long 🙂

Giggles and tales: So much beauty of nature, people and fat gorgeous Cows and Geese. I like 🙂

Rosses of Donegal:  absolutely gorgeous and dreamy views of Rosses area in County Donegal in North West Ireland.

Don’t horde the beauty of the life around you, just for yourself. Do share with us😉

Everyday People

Dear Stranger…Every day beautiful people 68

“Dear stranger, you are lovely. Have a beautiful day today. With love from another Stranger.”

I went to the African store where I buy my condiments for our native food and for some reason, this man caught my eye. I don’t know why, but he simply did.

Why I put my stats in my face…personal thoughts about blogging.

When I started blogging, I used to  agonize over my blog stats so, I’m not going to tell you one big fat lie that it didn’t mean anything to me; it did at that point.

Then, it started taking a center of focus which was anti what I wanted and my objectives.

I want to be able to do my blog posts without thinking for one second if the views would go out of the roof or not.

I didn’t want to lose sight of my main reasons for starting this journey in the first place and that’s to connect with like minded people, whilst nurturing my passion for writing.

Bothering over stats was such a joy-killer.

Even though hundreds of views mattered, it was not my primary goal. If the art of blogging wouldn’t lead me to the road of achieving my writing goals, why then should I bother over stats?

So I put my stats right in my face where I see it every second that I log on to my blog and bingo! I stopped agonizing over it.

I stopped poring over the figures and wasting God-given precious seconds trying to understand how and why and who and what and all the innumerable reasons why someone read xyz that I wrote and the jargon of search terms that one could find.

I just wasn’t about to start writing out of context and playing an orchestra that was tuneless.

The Lesson in this and note to self is, don’t lose sight of your blogging objectives.

Make sure you are enjoying the experience as you keep to your primary objectives. That’s what really keeps you going.

Midnight Motivation and Musings # 99…

1465885793459[1]

These are the words floating through my head of late.

Sometimes our strength flags a bit and we just need to exhale to get back those thoughts properly aligned. We shouldn’t feel guilty for taking the time to unplug; special note to workaholics like me.

Rest and recuperation are all part of being productive and taking care of oneself, though in the highly driven World of today, some of us tend to overreach and treat ourselves unkindly for cutting a slack.

When  you unplug and rewind, you bounce back a whole lot better. When we walk ourselves into a state of guilt for showing ourselves some love, we not only create room for diminished returns but a lot of negative emotions begin to seep in.

Blessed be.

Creative Writing · Fiction · Short Stories · Writer's Quote Wednesday

To become a fledgling…Writers quote Wednesday writing challenge.

“The phoenix must burn to emerge.” Janet Fitch

Masters body sat in the big black armchair frozen in time, but his thoughts were still razor sharp. He sat in his comatose state, waiting for the rebirth from his ancient self into a fledgling of a boy.

The pains that he had cruelly inflicted on others ripped through his veins with piercing intensity, that each drop of rebirth serum snarled at him, yelling in anger as it slowly trickled through veins that were on fire.

He was combusting from the heat that engulfed his being, but the voice of ‘She’ ignored his mindful pleas to be set free unchanged.

Her ethereal blue eyes held him calmly in place even as her thoughts loudly reverberated in his mind.

“You must be patient she said. For you can’t achieve that which you seek until you shed your ancient skin of cynicism and look with eyes reborn through the depths of your soul.”

The story above is in response to this week’s WQWWC’s prompt ‘rebirth.’ A word that I find interesting and personally inspiring.

It’s a word that tells me different things. It tells me that I have to let go of some old vision and allow my inner eye’s to be renewed with new sight.

It tells me that sometimes out of my own ashes, I can rise to find myself over and over again as long as I believe, for as long as I am breathing.

Gratitude

My full plate…

Crowded, Nest, Egg, Full, Overflowing, Overcrowded

For several weeks, I’ve felt listless and dissatisfied and recent incidents in the World emphasizes the sense of futility that I feel about life. My morale justs dips and I practically have to hang on with tenacious tentacles to all the positive mantras and pick-me-ups that I can think of.

My plate is heaped full of things to do and sometimes, taking a mere glimpse at them makes me want to go and lie down and sleep and hopefully, they will get themselves sorted out without much of my help and mental exertion.

I woke up this morning with a message tucked into my head that kept telling me to be appreciative of the privilege to be alive and the opportunity of having interesting things to tackle.

The message kept reverberating in my head that the gift of each day which is given, should never be taken for granted irrespective of our struggles because the death knell is a final and last call on this side of the divide.

As long as there’s life, hope lies within and today I’m grateful for my full plate of busy-ness and the opportunity to feel the Sun’s shine on my face.

I hope that are you grateful or thankful for something today. We have a lot of privileges surrounding us.

Diversity no. 1…Every day beautiful people #67

“It’s time for parents to teach young people early on, that in diversity, there’s beauty and there’s strength.” Maya Angelou

“No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” Nelson Mandela

The World is made beautiful by its diversity. We must learn to embrace the fact that others are different and have a right to be.

We should never allow the evil antics of misguided few to dictate how we relate as humans.
