A quick question, have you ever taken time to ask yourself how much you’ve been robbed over the years, by the act of trying to fit in, trying to please and trying to be who you are not?
This isn’t a sustainable characteristic. It’s very exhausting and self-annihilating.
You can only be the best when you are yourself because being the second best you is not who you are.

yes And I have taken steps to try and not be too harsh on myself. We are too judgemental of ourselves .

So true! I think we all, at some time in our lives, put on an act to fit in. Often it is work related but can also be a social thing. I found that it was easier to be myself as I got older but, even so, I sometimes catch myself out!

Once I realized this and started watching myself, I became a happier human and even far more caring towards others because the self-inflicted pressure reduced. Thank you for your comments Sir 🙂

Absolutely! When we are young, it is much harder for us to see that being unique is what is most attractive, not only to others, but for self-love. We need to spread this message for all the beautiful young people in this generation:)

I agree with you Nena and because we don’t know it at a younger age, a lot of mistakes are made.

Yes there are. We’re in need of sound guidance and good role models for our young people.

I can certainly relate. For years, I tried to be someone I am not in order to please others and fit in. That is exhausting and unfulfilling. I’ve come to realize that I like who I am, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I am fearfully and wonderfully made; this is something that I’ve come to embrace.
Now I encourage my children to be who they are. People who love you will love you no matter what.

You said it all Kay. Those who love you will love you for who you are 🙂

I’ve never really given any thought to what it’s costing me. This has definitely given me something to think about, especially in light of the fact that I’ve spent most of my adult life trying to fit in with my family.

Hmm. Our families can really push us. Anyway, I have made mine know where they are with me at each point in time and we get on better that way.

I have just learned this in the last couple of years and am finally being who I am. I spent way too much of my life trying to be who I thought everyone else wanted me to be. That is very exhausting. Being the true me is very rewarding! Thanks for this reminder!
