My parents had a pool table in the basement. It became the gathering place for 4 generations of our family – my grandfather lived with us and would have some of his friends from the seniors centre over when it was too wet out for lawn bowling! My parents would have their friends over for a friendly game. My sister and I each would have our turns at it and my nephews grew up on the various games – pool, snooker, billiards. You picture conjures up great memories. It is as much a gathering table as one set for a banquet.

Lydia do you know that you’ve just told a lovely family tale all around the pool table 🙂 Maybe there’s a story in that somewhere.

Maybe there is! Your picture just captured the essence of community that I remembered from growing up!

I enjoyed playing pool when I was younger. Maybe once I retire and I can locate a friendly pool hall in a safe neighborhood I will try again. I remember playing back when I was in the Army. The photo also brings to mind the movie Cool Hand Luke. If I remember correctly Paul Newman played Eddie a “Pool Hustler.”

I like the idea of playing in a pool hall on a quiet evening. There are so many stories around the pool table 😉
