Tuesday Trickles – My thinking corner.

Every Tuesday, I share snippets of thoughts that I call ‘My Thinking Corner.’

I would like to invite you to participate. The challenge is quite simple. You can check this link for more details.

Think of those things that are currently troubling you and write them down.

Don’t try to focus on immediate solutions; just focus on getting those thoughts out of your mind and onto a paper.

Close your writing, go and do something rejuvenating, like taking a walk, calling a friend and having a bit of laughter, whatever works for you.

Give it a day or two, then pick up what you wrote and read it.

You will observe that writing it down helped to declutter your mind.

Secondly, putting it in writing brings clarity and possibly simplifies the matter and finally reading it gives your mind an opportunity to look at possible solutions from a more mind-liberated position.

Some short words of wisdom are sent in by Deb. Do take a peek. You learn something new every day.

Be happy.

The Daily Post

When I am Fifty…

When I was twenty, I thought thirty was old,
then I became thirty and it wasn’t so bad.
Lo Presto! Forty came calling and looks good on me,
that now I realize fifty isn’t old at all.

I realized that age flies and are only numbers when you count,
‘cos these numbers don’t depict the essence of who you are
and the miles you’ve walked in life.

I’ll embrace fifty when it does come round
with grace and a lot of gratitude
for to age is a blessing
that many don’t live to see.

The grass is always greener in the other decade: Some of our fantasy are best left that way. Do you remember your teenage crush and how he/she seemed like the best thing after ice-cream? This post took me down memory lane.

Finally, a bit of rest relaxation: There are times we need to loose the bindings and just chill. It does the body and soul good.

A most pleasant dirge: I must say this dirge does arouse several interesting thoughts.

Timepiece…

Clock[1]

Tick, tock, tick tock
says the clock
now is the time to live
‘cos this is not a mock.
There are no redo’s
and there’s plenty to do.

You can break or bury me
under your bed, say’s the clock
but I’m ever present and remain
an unstoppable timepiece
whose silent beats
you must dance to.

Stream of Consciousness Saturday.

No Seconds! Streams of consciousness Saturday.

I like second helpings to sweet desserts and second chances when it’s possible to redo things that I didn’t get right the first time and possibly avoid making the same mistake a second time, but I would never accept the concept of being treated as a SECOND-CLASS citizen and no one else should.

Irrespective of colour, creed, sex or wealth no one should subject and treat others as second class citizens or even less than humans when their lives are not more important than that person’s own. SoCS badge 2015

Seconds after watching some stomach churning video’s on racism I totally wished that I hadn’t, because it left me saddened, angered and in those seconds, I realised how one can easily get caught in this emotional and virulent turbulence, that no matter how much people claim not to be racists, their Devilry starts crawling out of the woodwork and they exhibit the true colours of their minds under certain circumstances.

The fabric of society is so tightly woven on oppression, violence, racism… that even centuries later, we are still battling the secondary after-effects of the seeds of blood, slavery, racism, pillage and plunder that have been perpetrated and yet we see people struggling to hold on to second amendment rights that beg to be realigned.

Gosh!! People, please!

When are we going to learn that some parts of history are not worth the second chance of repeating itself? When are we going to wake up and review the extent of anguish and affliction and the toll that certain unsavoury decisions made by our predecessors has taken on society?

It seems we are sitting on kegs of gunpowder that ticks and would go KABOOM in seconds and since we don’t get a second chance to live another life, doesn’t it make sense to just try and live one great life and leave better legacies behind, especially when we consider the fact that the seconds on the hands of time ticks pretty fast and we really don’t have that much time on our hands?

Phew! I am exhausted just thinking through all this. Let me get myself a second glass of orange juice to calm my brain down a notch.

Have a splendid weekend and keep safe. Thank you, Linda for your intuitive prompt ‘second.’ 🙂

Rononvan's Weekly Haiku Challenge

Magical Time – Ronovan writers weekly haiku challenge.

Once I saw the prompt for Ronovan’s weekly haiku challenge ‘time and grow,’ my thought went to my children who are galloping up so fast before my eye’s that sometimes it gives me mixed feelings to watch them become more independent each day, knowing that soon they will be full-fledged adults and fly my coop.

Ah! I love these blessings of mine with every breath that I have.

Mundane Monday

Clocking in…Mundane Monday.

Mundane Monday challenge is created to find beauty in almost everything.

The challenge is simple : find beauty in everyday mundane things, capture the beauty and upload the photographs.

Time[1]

I was rushing to meet someone and arrived a few minutes before our agreed time. When I looked at the clock that they had on the wall, I still had two minutes to sit down and catch my breath before stepping in for the chat.

As I sat there, I ruminated a bit on how this everyday gadget called ‘clock or watch,’ has become a trusted custodian of time. We rely on it in so many ways – sometimes annoying us when alarm shrieks to wake you up or when the time seems to run away too fast or go too slow dependent on one’s circumstance.

Out of the silent breath

Enchant me with your expressive eyes,

that crinkles in laughter as you speak,

that I may find myself ever caught between

the reflections of your pupils and there shall I remain.
