My Message to You Today…

Single rose

Your love can neither be bought
nor can it be sold

Your love for yourself
is the root of your love for others

Learn to embrace your imperfections
and hug your genuineness

Love yourself fully as you are
because you are enough

Share the gift of who you are with others
from your full cup of love.

Happy Valentine

Friday Fiction in Five Sentences

Turmoil – Friday Fiction in Five Sentences

Image result for a sad woman

Her heart thumped in nervous apprehension once she heard his Ford pickup pull into their drive.

What mood would he be in today? Belligerent? Happy? Drunk?

She just never knew what to expect from one moment to the next…explosive anger or a bouquet of flowers.

Of late, living with him was like constantly walking on eggshells.

On second thoughts and in no mood for any confrontation, she quickly turned off the television and tiptoed off to bed.

Midnight Motivations and Musings 111

picsart_10-02-07-30-491

There comes a time when the ‘use by date’ of some people in our lives expires and we have to let them go. Those who can’t stand to see your progress, whose main roles as the Negative Nancy’s and Ned’s  is to discourage and remind you of a hurtful past,  as a way to keep  you pegged under their thumbs and forever cloaked in self-doubt.

These people exercise mind control over you and subconsciously, you are allowing them to manipulate your life one way or the other – when you have to hope for moral support that is never forthcoming, hide your true desires, or reduce yourself before them, in order to accommodate their scoffing disbelief, peevishness and other symptoms that they tend to exhibit, it’s time to put them to pasture and walk away. Not every friendship is built to last and have a fairytale forever ending.

Gratitude

Keeping it in the right place – personal.

I just can’t give up now ‘cos I’ve come too far from where I’m coming from. Nobody told me that the journey would be easy, but believe me when I say it’s been a struggle (to put it mildly).

In recent weeks, my heart hasn’t been in the right place. I’ve struggled to find my sunshine through the dark clouds that it’s been hard to even crack a smile. Should I pretend that all feels well to me?Image result for images for thankfulness

Should I feign ignorance of the ugliness of what’s going on in the World? Fake the fact that to some people I’m subhuman because I’m black? How easy is that if I may ask?

Let me tell you the truth, I’m not feeling like the sunny child that I am. I feel mad, ugly with deep-rooted anger and so sad. My husband is travelling to the States for some weeks and I’m virtually having palpitations from unreasonable fear, in as much as I keep telling myself to stop with the negative thinking and not to let the enemies of progress steal my peace.

I realize that it’s so easy to drown in the deluge of bad news that constantly hovers and I have to save myself from drowning just yet, if ever at all. I’ve consciously used you, my friends as my crutch, my family, exercise, music, prayers, writing out my anger and tearing it up and then writing my thanks and keeping it before my eyes. These may seem like meaningless acts, but they work. It helps me to keep my thoughts in the right place and to give thanks in everything with a grateful heart and believe me when I say that there’s a lot to give thanks for. To me, my need and state of peace and thankfulness far outweigh all the foolishness out there put together.

Being thankful is a process that releases good thoughts in you. It triggers the positive side of your brain that improves your self-esteem, your mental strength, your psychological health, sense of empathy and so much more.

The Corner…

Silently, he planned his line of action, driving 6 hours non-stop to catch her unawares at the stroke of ten.

He watched the lights of the diner go off for the day. Knowing that her shift was almost over and she would step out for her brisk walk home, he reached into the glove compartment for the piece and rushed to wait for her at the corner of the street.

June stepped into the chilly night, humming as she strode down the quiet street. Turning the corner to her street she bumped into his hard waiting frame. A quick apology rose to her lips just before his familiar cologne curled up to her nostrils and his warm embrace held her still.

‘Hello sweetheart, I couldn’t wait any longer’ Jed murmured close to her ears. Distance was hard on their relationship and having missed him badly, she simply allowed his presence to envelope her surprised senses.

Reaching for the little box in his coat, Jed went down on one knee…

She squealed her happy acceptance. This corner where they met for the first time when he bumped into her two years ago has become a turning point in her life.

To go or not to go? Friday fiction in five sentences.

Her heart jumped in excitement and trepidation as she read the letter over and over again.

In her hands lay a new opportunity offered by her office, to take up a more exciting job in another location.

Her thoughts were divided on what the implications of relocation would mean.

It would be a big test on her five-year-old relationship with David.

Sara had thought that moving in with David was a good idea that would naturally gravitate towards getting married and starting a family, but getting married didn’t seem to suit David’s plans; maybe it’s time for her to go.

Everyday People

Trust me, my darling…Every day beautiful people # 71

“Relationships is certainly more than holding hands, more than going on dates, kissing and sex. It’s about accepting your partner’s flaws, warts and all and seeing the perfection in an imperfect person. It’s all about finding happiness with each other and being yourself.” Jacqueline Oby-Ikocha

Okay, so the imagination might be mine, but I like to imagine what people are saying as I enjoy watching them, so from the gentleman’s earnest gestures, I read:

“Trust me, darling, I’m yours to keep.”

Yeah, yeah, I’m a die-hard romantic, but where would we be without a bit of romance in our hearts? 😉

Out of the silent breath

Money,Lipsticks and Beer…

Bo tucked the money into his wallet with a sigh.

Now he could give Celia an overdue treat. He wasn’t proud of the fact that he took to the hidden work of strutting and teasing a crowd of hooting women to earn money, but things have been financially rough for so long.

Maybe now he had a little extra, he could finish work on the vintage and put it up for sale.
——
Lipsticks, beer breath, perfumes and powder on cuffs…she saw them all.

Celia’s evidence against Bo reverberated in her mind as she threw her things into her bag.

He never had money to take her out, forgot her birthday two days ago, yet he had enough to booze up with other ladies and to work on the infernal vintage that he inherited from his uncle.

She knew he was up to some monkey affair with another lady, due to his dodgy, morose mood.

She chuckled in mirth at his imagined outrage when he see’s his beloved vintage where she parked it, but she would be far away.

She had painted it in patterns of the things she liked.

Out of the silent breath

Enchant me with your expressive eyes, that crinkles in laughter as you speak

that I may find myself ever caught between

the reflections of your pupils and there shall I remain.
