Finding my solitude

In my World, finding solitude is not always easy to achieve physically – my dear Himself and our children are always underfoot one way or the other 😉

I’ve learnt over time to create ways to be still and find inner quiet even when everywhere is abuzz.

I deliberately seek out pockets of moments to enjoy being by myself and to appreciate those moments.

Once, I told a friend that as a mother, to visit the shops alone and to shop quietly without the children is a vacation. Thus, I linger over a pot of tea/coffee, natter over nothing with strangers and come home humming with a gleam in my eye’s 🙂

Gratitude

January is out. How are you holding up?

Happiness, Quotes, Gratitude

We were just singing Auld Lang Syne a few days ago and here we are in February getting ready to share boxes of chocolates, roses, cards and all what not for the love of Valentine.

Two things this brings to mind are; the shortness and speed of time as well as how we must harness our time optimally.

Some of us probably set out major goals and may be taking a look at how far they’ve gone with it. While some didn’t bother with it. Whichever spectrum you are in, it’s all good.

Remember that the most important thing is that when you set major goals, always appreciate the minor accomplishments that brought you to your goal even when you are falling behind your set goal.

Celebrating those minor accomplishments boosts and motivates your drive to keep pushing forward. Castigating oneself over failures most times has a reverse effect.

Today, as I took my brisk morning walk, I did a mental account of all that I’ve been doing with my time and I am thankful for the consistency in keeping with my plans. I am thankful for the zeal to wake up each day with peace and a positive frame of mind.

There are mornings that the joy I feel inside literally flows like a river. What my experiences keep teaching me is that the greatest success we can achieve in our lives is contentment, peace, and joy.

Since I came to the understanding that my happiness is my responsibility and doesn’t lie in anyone’s hands, or in material gains, I’ve found that happiness easier to hold on to.

There’s always something to be grateful for, all you have to do is to look inside. Be kind to yourself and others.

Jacqueline

Everything in life has a purpose, the good, the bad and the super ugly: I completely believe this even though sometimes we may not understand what’s going on at that point in time. All things work together for our own good.

Best home security for apartment living In today’s World, safety should not be undermined.

So if you’re currently living in an apartment or something similar, make sure you are well protected with this inexpensive home wireless security system. Or if you just happen to know someone who does, purchase a security system as a home warming gift or a gift for any occasion. You can’t lose when you provide someone with peace of mind and security!

Hopeful.  This short quote is just apt and uplifting. NEVER. GIVE UP HOPE.

The frailty of life The fact that we’ve been given such an X amount of time in life and none of us knows when we are bowing out is the reason that we shouldn’t fail to live, love, learn as best as we can each day, for life is indeed frail.

Unseen Things…

2

Unseen trail of bitter tears
left indelible gouges of pain
engraved in her heart

Unseen thoughts of rooted anger
left trails of gore and violence
in his destructive path

Unseen sense of fear and doubt
left them immobilized
unable to take actions

Speak!
That your words may be heard.

Cry out!
That your tears may cleanse your soul.

Reach!
That you may touch the stars beyond the sky.

‘The things unseen surpasses those before our naked eyes. They take on undefined proportions that define our lives.’

Writers Quote Challenge

So, what is the alternative? Personal – Writers Quote Challenge

If the truth is to be told, it is hard to stay thankful and grateful in the face of suffering and sometimes I silently question how Job withstood his painful ordeals without grumbling. Didn’t his heart even murmur a bit?invitation-shel-silverstein

For many months I’ve tried not to dwell on negativity, to remain thankful in everything because the truth is that the alternative to ingratitude sows bitter seeds of discord and cynicism, but in the past few weeks it’s been a struggle to stay upbeat and sometimes I feel as if I am a fraud spouting thankful words that are not deep-seated within my soul.

My rancour comes from watching a beloved young family member deteriorate healthwise – my younger sisters husband is battling an invasive brain tumour and sometimes I feel so afraid that we are fighting a losing battle. Such thoughts simply make my heart stop in fear and my prayers clog my throat. It is hard!

I remember watching my father decline from Cancer and the pain of watching his pain broke my heart many times over. Yet, through all his struggles, he remained stoic, never voicing a word of grumble and held his Faith through it all.

Sometimes, I wondered where he got such grace in the face of such adversity and I remember this quote that he shared with me,

I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn’t, than live as if there isn’t and to die to find out that there is – Albert Camus

This quote has stuck in my head and always comes up when I’m between the hard rocks of fear, doubt and dwindling faith. It reminds me, that during the times of tribulation, are the times to hold on tighter. Though the difficult season may seem insurmountable, thankfulness lightens the burden of one’s load and I remind myself not to let go of gratitude especially when troubled.

Let’s have a rocking blog party this weekend 🙂

Stream of Consciousness Saturday.

Few of my favourite things – Streams of Consciousness Saturday

I love pretty things. They are delightful to look at. I’ve always loved colour splashes and if truth be told, I have no favourite colour ‘cos I love them all.

There’s something pretty about each hue and my eclectic self can never seem to decide on a colour that’s the best colour.

I’m a sound of music kinda girl and at the same time a spirited ruff and tumble kind of person.

I no longer try to define myself because no definition does a pretty good job of summing me up. I confuse the heck out of my dear Himself at times 🙂

Pretty ribbons and sashes, pretty flowers, a pretty, frilly, girly frock are a few of my favourite things.

A pretty frock on a little girl or indeed a lady transforms her. I do own several pretty dresses though my jeans are my quick get-ups to wear when in a dash.

On Sundays, I enjoy dressing up for Church, in a pretty dress, my heels and sometimes a hat or scarf depending on my mood.

My walk simply changes and the swing in my hips decidedly pronounced, I guess it’s the combination of the heels and dress and my dear husband loves it too 😉

These days, I take my time to shop – except for groceries that are essential to survival. I choose carefully what I want to buy either for my home or to wear. It has to be pretty, aesthetically pleasing. Something that would make my heart smile.

There’s no point acquiring things just sporadically and for the fun of it. I try to surround myself with those pretty things that warm me up and enhance my sense of pleasure.

Life is pretty fast these days and the days are too short to waste on ugliness.
