Enticing Food Labels In these days of so much sensory overload online, in the shops, on TV etc, how much attention do we really pay to the enticing words and labels that attract our eyes’ promising us one good thing after the other especially when it comes to food. Our health is our life and there are basic things that we must be attentive to. This is an important post.

I try to be perfect for my adopted daughter, while not expecting perfection. Borrowing the writers’ words quoted below, this post makes your guts wrench.

Those affected by trauma can try to make sure their kids don’t have the same trauma….by not showing our trauma.

How do we try to be perfect while also not expecting or desiring perfection? I’ve been doing it for years and it is hurting me on the inside. At night I cry.

Last night my tears were for my real mother, the woman who spent years looking for me after I was trafficked by two white people.

Short Stories

Enslaved – Friday Fiction in Five Sentences.

She lay still on the mat, her body curled in a fetal position as she listened to his grunts and snoring whilst he slept in replete satisfaction.

Reeba heard every minutiae sound that echoed in the night camp as she suffered through another sleepless night of so many terrifying nights; daylight could never come fast enough.

A deep chasm of hopelessness dug a bottomless pit inside her, alongside her perpetual hunger for food.

For how long? For how long would she have to live? Will she get out of this alive? Sometimes death seemed a preferable option.

She wondered what became of her family; did they survive the attack or were they captured and enslaved as well?

Pillow Talks…Pillow Fights…

PILLOW TALK…

1449634378130[1]

My eyelashes fall in love with each other,
Irresistible romance, the lids draw together,
Until in gentle kiss they link…
…And fall asleep within a blink.

In a soft cocoon of pleasant dreams,
Where pillow hugs like a gentle stream,
And bed of sweet affection, I felt,
My body regains its needed health.

…PILLOW FIGHT1449633223347[1]

A pat, A plump, A punch of pillow!
Where is my sleep; my eyes feel hollow!
The brain is drained, its down to zero;
Yet thoughts flit past just like a sparrow.

Alas! Sleep is won with quite a fight!
The bones so weary, they do so sigh;
The brain is fuzzy and the face a fright;
  A battle of might, O what a night!
