My money counts: Pamela’s blog brings you informative, professionally sound and useful posts on money management and modest living.

Different is good: a short little rant that says it just right. Your way is not necessarily the best way.

Thank you’s and a list of 100 songs: a beautiful, thoughtful shout out and great musical list too. Check it out.

“Music is a higher revelation
than all wisdom and philosophy.
Music is the electrical soil
in which the spirit lives, thinks and invents.”
~ Ludwig van Beethoven ~

After effects of Hurricane Sandy: an experience that most of us pray never to have. I love knowing things, but I’ll pass on this one.

Life lessons teaching you: A short post that’s worth your read. A good reminder.

Best blogs: Check these out. You might pick a thing or twenty things.

Oh Bother! If there’s a post you must read today, read this! Very smart, fun and sensible.

What Picasso, Bach, and Godin all have in common: Prolific, prolific, prolific. We all should read this, repeat and read it again! Great message!

Guava spiced cupcakes: Fancy trying something new? Let me use Diya’s words in a quote here. I will try this myself during Summer break-bliss and give my verdict 🙂

Taking a bite out of these is a treat for the senses. What hits you first is the scent. Think cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves in a riotous dance that tantalizes your nostrils. Next you notice the pillowy soft crumb that virtually dissolves the moment it hits your tongue. The seductive draw of those spices is cut through with the slightest tang of lemon. Bliss!

Place I used to know: We should all indulge in this as often as we possibly can. Worth the while.

Introduce Yourself: There’s nothing like getting to know people in your circle a bit better. It builds a better sense of community.

Not for me the wives social circle: Quite an interesting read and this is my comment:

Yep! Getting on well with your life is the best way absolutely. You were and still remain an individual and in interesting one with or without a man. I would hate it if someone prefixes my identity with that of being with my husband. I am me and then we are we. Likewise, he is also first himself, before being my husband. I like how you’ve formed your own circle that best suits you.

Didgeridoo and the lady too: Never seen this instrument before. Interesting! I had to google it.

Today’s featured blogs posts are:

Distance: There’s something fascinating about the train and the train tracks.

Turnaround: Not a situation any parent would love to find themselves in. Amunala’s story depicts the possible nightmare of many…

Letters of opportunity: A simple but great idea to work it, especially those who need some sort of motivation. I like this.

Monkey/chuen spiritual quickening: In Debra’s words quoted below:

Monkey is known to the Maya as the Weaver or Weaver of Time.

We are asked to look beyond the world’s definition of our worth and meaning. Everything in the world would tell us we are powerless – helpless to change the world. Monkey encourages us to believe in our own magic.

I find her articles fascinating. Take a look.

Rumors and gossips: A strong poem that depicts the loss and waste of a mind that idles. A goldmine gone down the drain!

The kindness of strangers: It’s really in the little things that we do. Our gestures don’t have to be huge to be impactful. A read worth your time.

Musings of a solo female traveller: We all need to do this, even if it’s just once in our lives, it’s worth the while.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.

Out of the silent breath

Dreamy memories of dreamy moments,

of wondrous yearnings and many birthing,

as we clung to each other

excluding any other,

basking in the warmth of our own dew drops

glowing from the aftermath of good love.

Today’s featured blogs posts are from a dear friend Melinda Kucsera of In Medias Res.

Mel’s writing is so fascinating, that I never fail to ask myself how she does it. Her attention to details, the visuals, the intrigue she creates are totally skillful.

You need to read her some of her work to get my drift. She’s special 🙂

Pranabaxom I enjoy reading Pranabaxom’s written words. An excerpt of the about page reads ‘I open my mind to the world.  Like the weather, sometimes my poems are cloudy, sometimes stormy.  I always like to see sunshine streaming through the leaves of trees, so I hope I can share some of this sunshine with my readers.’ Go check it out.

I am: I could like this poem so many times over. It speaks to you and gives you joy. Do check it out.

Lightheaded:  let me introduce you to Nancy Thorton whose journey of creating a new life after retiring has become an exciting one at 8,200 feet. In her words: ‘I’ve made a life for myself with words. from the first poem I penned in second grade about puppies to selling some of the  world’s most comfortable shoes.  through all those years I had teachers, editors, account people, clients even clients’ wives telling me how to make my copy better. and on occasion they were right.’

Tell Me:  ‘Blindfolded, Sarn could see nothing except the perpetual green glow of his eyes since their light was also trapped inside that light-tight fabric strip.

Yesterday, my son had a surprise for me and they made me cover my eyes and walk while he held my hand. I liked the idea of the surprise but didn’t quite trust that I wouldn’t hit my head before getting there.

Now, I can imagine how Sarn must have felt and in his own case, his life was endangered. Melinda keeps weaving a thick, suspenseful plot.

The miracle of friendship…

The miracle of friendship happens in great ways even though they may seem small. When we speak to others, we have no idea how much life our words carry and mean. This post is the best that I have read today. It was least expected that I should see my name in a post such as this and not only am I humbled by Darrel’s words, but I am humbled to think that my words can make a difference enough for this lovely person to count me as a worthy friend.
Depression is an ailment that is not too well understood and it is a silent killer. It’s never an easy burden to bear on those who suffer from it.

spartacus2030's avatarMy Opinionsville

I started out wanting to write a blog about depression, as well as this one, concerning how I feel about my friends in the blogging community…  The two seemed to be intertwined in my mind, which was confusing me about what to say, and when.  So I’ll begin with the most important.  It’s not the volume of friends that I have here that matters to me, it’s the miraculous advancements in my writing, I couldn’t possibly achieve without them!  They are the reason I can hang in, while my depression always says that I can’t!  That would be next to impossible in and of itself…  So you see?  A few loyal friends is way heavier than a multitude of fair weather friends who desert you when you’re at a low point in your live; just the time when you need your friends the most!

They have done more than keep…
