Tuesday Trickles – My thinking corner.

Every Tuesday, I share snippets of thoughts that I call ‘My Thinking Corner.’

I would like to invite you to participate. The challenge is quite simple. You can check this link for more details.

Think of those things that are currently troubling you and write them down.

Don’t try to focus on immediate solutions; just focus on getting those thoughts out of your mind and onto a paper.

Close your writing, go and do something rejuvenating, like taking a walk, calling a friend and having a bit of laughter, whatever works for you.

Give it a day or two, then pick up what you wrote and read it.

You will observe that writing it down helped to declutter your mind.

Secondly, putting it in writing brings clarity and possibly simplifies the matter and finally reading it gives your mind an opportunity to look at possible solutions from a more mind-liberated position.

Some short words of wisdom are sent in by Deb. Do take a peek. You learn something new every day.

Be happy.

Friday Fiction in Five Sentences · Uncategorized

Dark nights – Friday Fiction in Five Sentences.

Image result for a man smoking in the dark

Mark sat in the dark smoke-filled room, the only light came from the red glow of his cigarettes.

Silent nights were his worst companions but he couldn’t stand the meaningless drone of the TV, where everyone looked cheerful and conversed with the ease of those who led normal lives. He hated the silent nights.

PTSD. That was what the doc said. PTSD. An easy blanket name used to describe his postwar struggles, and a handful of prescription that didn’t take away the recurring booms of explosives, the pungent stench of charred human bodies, the severed limbs, and the blood; so much blood.

The heroes welcome had been short-lived, for in the land fit  for heroes there’s hardly any jobs for those like him and he wished he was back in Afghanistan, where he knew his place.

Now, he just didn’t know himself anymore.

At family dinners, wild tales start as soon as we’ve said Grace and the food is being passed around.  “Remember that fifty-two pound turkey Daddy brought home to fatten for Thanksgiving on year!”

Someone else breaks in, “That old turkey was the meanest thing that ever walked!  We couldn’t even walk out in the yard without him flying over the fence and flogging us.  Mother was looking forward to him teaching those terrible Downs kids a lesson…

The Imp – Mundane Monday

Mundane Monday Challenge is created to find beauty in almost everything.

The challenge is simple : find beauty in everyday mundane things, capture the beauty and upload the photographs.

Imp head.

Walking to my car in the garage, I noticed a curious black smear of paint or coal tar, not sure which one it is, however, the interesting shape seemed like a head of a cheeky imp and I couldn’t resist taking a photo of it. My camera has become a daily companion.
