Lend Me Your Ears…

Lend me your listening ears O’ people of mine,

That I may whisper the ancient words,

That I fed your forefathers,

So that you may be a Voice.

You are the land of a great people,

The land of the rising and the setting sun.

A land that overflows,

With the goodness that I have given.

Do not dance naked to the beat of a drum,

That goes thrumming in the dark of the night;

Lest you dance the dance of the dead.

Do not chase the fly senselessly,

Lest you enter the grave with it.

Do not join the madman in the market,

To nod at his music,

Hence, you know not who beats his drum for him.

Do not listen to the ramblings of depraved men,

When you cannot decipher their wisdom or mental health.

Shall you forget the directions your forebears gave you;

In pursuance of the Golden Fleece that only misleads?

Your truths and values, you’ve thrown to the winds.

Scattered like a flock of birds,

Pursued by the booming sound of wealth.

Caution, I implore, lest you cut the cord;

Thus, you shall reap only seeds of discord.

You grasp with greed, You grapple with misdeeds,

Robbing yourselves blind of all that is right.

Lend me your ears O’ people  of mine.

That you may hear my Voice,

As I whisper to you in the blowing wind.

Concealing Concealer…

She dabbed on several layers of concealer,

In an attempt to hide her bruised cheek.

She covered her eyes with big, dark sunglasses,

So that no one would notice its pink-tinged state.

She wore turtle-necked and long-sleeved loose tops,

All bright and shiny,

To hide all the bumps and scrapes.

But what she failed to do,

Was to conceal the damage to her heart.

Conceal, The Daily Post

It’s important to note that no amount of hiding and disguising can protect or help an abused woman. If you are in an abusive relationship, seek help before it becomes too late to do that.

Heaving Bosoms…

With blue painted eyes hid behind the mask

She certainly looked mysterious

Waving her fan of fine damask

She became quite flirtatious

Her flimsy dress a dash too frivolous

It showed far too much heaving bosom

It caused many gents, to become unscrupulous

As they attempted to peek at the blossoms.

Would YOU?

Would you lend a hand

To help those hands

Hanging out of the pits

reaching for someone

anyone to help and give a tug.

*****

Would you lend an ear

to help listen to that sad soul

who needs a simple shoulder

just to lean for a bit.

narrow or broad, any shoulder would do.

*****

Would you lend a voice

to say no to violence

to help push a cause

that fosters human well-being

a common need for us all

*****

Would you lend a dime or two

to help a brother break some bread

for not everyone that you see that begs

is really a lazy never-do-well.

Some fell on real hard times

*****

Would you help to whisper a prayer

in the silent abode of your heart

for an ailing stranger

whom you know not

hoping that things will be for the best

*****

What would you do to help

those painful eyes

those limp, bruised arms

those hungry souls

those voiceless ones

*****

Would you silently help

or would you shift your eyes

pressing the phone aimlessly

in an attempt to appear busy.

and simply walk on by?

Nerves of Steel…

Our nerves are stretched and frayed
And yes, we champ at our bits by it all
At the spate of hateful and violent attacks
Rocking the World to minutes of silence
…and viral hashtags

How can we condone this?
How can we continue like this?
What kind of horrible lives these people must live.
To harbour souls so embittered?
…and nerves made of steel.

Complete sensitivity is lost to other peoples’ lives
There are hardly words to explain such horror
And the damage that hate can do
As yet again, we are shocked from lulled senses
…and all I ask is when? When will it come to an end?

Ounces Of Silver…

Was it worth the Price?

30 pieces of silver!….

To betray the man you called Master

The one who loved you

And whom you claimed to love!

I dare say not!

Is it worth the price?

The pain of her pleading wail

The shredded heart and rend pieces

That could never be put together again

You betrayed for a few pieces of notes

I dare say not!

Is it worth the price

To walk in the path of light

To look up above and see Christ

As he guides us aright

Leading gently, if we choose to follow

I dare say yes!

Zooming By Through The Years….

1456418842941[1]

There are really some days that I wish that time is not an intangible object, but something that could be adjusted to fit one’s purpose through the years.

There are days that my to do list is as tall as my 5 ft 11″ if not taller and there is insufficient time to get it all done in one day. There is so much to do and so little time.

Sometimes I sincerely wish that these years will go at a snail pace, so that I will have enough time to savour those I love through the years.

You wake up in the morning and before you turn around it’s evening and the day has just flown past, which is why the phrase of making hay while the Sun shines never fails to reverberate in my mind.

Even if you refused to make the hay, time will still zoom by and the bales of hay to be made still awaits you.

I can remember when I was a small girl which seems like yesterday, and people in their thirties seemed ancient to me.

I can never forget a would be suitor *arranged marriage* that came seeking for my hand when I was barely 18. He was a doctor in his 30’s residing in Italy and I can still recall my horror at the thought of marrying someone who was possibly my fathers age.

Now, here I am, older, wiser, yet still very young in my head at times.

Sometimes, I do nothing, but just ponder over the essence of time and life.

Would I wake up one day and find that I have been dreaming my life all along?

Ever since my sense of how fast time goes by became acute, I try to make each day count, live in each moment and get the best that I can out of it.

With the conscious reality that the best things in life are for free, the onus rests on me to endeavour to enjoy these best things as much as life makes available to me.

There is no time to spend over inane issues. We can’t stop time, but we can embrace what we have and be the pilot’s of our given moments.
