Getting the edges aligned. ..

Today’s photo 101 prompt has been my least favourite so far. Not quite sure why, except that I really don’t like tweaking pictures around and altering them so much, so I had to really search hard for pictures.

I always prefer things looking as natural as possible, except where unavoidable, and I am glad that I didn’t have to manipulate these ones asides from giving them an edge 🙂

Lend Me Your Ears…

Lend me your listening ears O’ people of mine,

That I may whisper the ancient words,

That I fed your forefathers,

So that you may be a Voice.

You are the land of a great people,

The land of the rising and the setting sun.

A land that overflows,

With the goodness that I have given.

Do not dance naked to the beat of a drum,

That goes thrumming in the dark of the night;

Lest you dance the dance of the dead.

Do not chase the fly senselessly,

Lest you enter the grave with it.

Do not join the madman in the market,

To nod at his music,

Hence, you know not who beats his drum for him.

Do not listen to the ramblings of depraved men,

When you cannot decipher their wisdom or mental health.

Shall you forget the directions your forebears gave you;

In pursuance of the Golden Fleece that only misleads?

Your truths and values, you’ve thrown to the winds.

Scattered like a flock of birds,

Pursued by the booming sound of wealth.

Caution, I implore, lest you cut the cord;

Thus, you shall reap only seeds of discord.

You grasp with greed, You grapple with misdeeds,

Robbing yourselves blind of all that is right.

Lend me your ears O’ people  of mine.

That you may hear my Voice,

As I whisper to you in the blowing wind.

Sold Out! Writers quote Wednesday…

Writing, Writer, Notes, Pen, Notebook, Book, Girl

Writers are always selling somebody out.
—Joan Didion

This quote roused a chuckle out of me because I can personally testify to its trueness. Selling out doesn’t always connote something negative, especially for writers, even though we use the material obtained as fodder for our imagination and stories.

Simply said, when someone irks me, especially when their act is repetitive, they somehow find their ways inside a story or any article that I conjure.

It’s very natural that there are those who might rub us the wrong way or we simply don’t get along with them and this could apply to family members too.

Writing it out helps me to delve deeper into the reasoning behind the person’s actions and also serves as an outlet for my vexation or amusement.

A lot of times, by the time I am done writing it all out, I find myself laughing it off.

For instance, there are some irksome fellows that use the neighbourhood gym in such a bothersome manner, that it’s been on the tip of my tongue so many times to tell them off, but how do you tell a guy that his habit of scratching his butt often, gets on your nerves?

Oh well, with my tongue in my cheek, I turned him into a butt scratching caveman who can’t yet grasp the refined aspects of social skills in public places and that makes me feel a whole lot better.

Ha! I daresay, that there are so many of us out there selling out others.

Laughter and Love…

Laughter and love are the best things in life, no doubts about that!

I am thankful for such a time as this honestly. For family and fun times. For Spring break and a chance to generally loaf around a bit, creating memories that last a lifetime.

Good and beautiful memories interspersed with sibling squabble and lots of food.

If the truth be told, I feel outrightly lazy and decadent from these past few days of sleeping late and waking up late. Very unusual practice, that my body is about to go on a riot.

As I write this, I am reminded of a happy post shared by dearest VAN and I urge you to take a quick peek. 🙂

You can thank me later.

Are there itty-bitty things that your heart knows thanks for?

Do share if you will. Thank you.

You can join Colline’s  or Maria Jansson gratitude challenge platforms.

I wonder whose bicycle it was,  before it became a piece of decor?

Lovely idea 😊

Midnight Motivations and Musings 43…

1459242075415[1]

A whole lot of times, for fear of being hurt, or losing out, we choose to sit on the fence rather than dabbling and trying our best.

Easy does it quite alright and it’s essential to exercise caution before jumping into any venture or as the case may be a relationship.

However, we cannot because of previous bad experience rule out every other opportunity to try again.

Like my people would say, we cannot because of fear of shooting, avoid going to war when the need arises. For example, the fact that Tim broke your heart, doesn’t mean John will do so. For all you know, John might be that partner you’ve been seeking for.

Secondly, because one business endeavour failed, you cannot write off all other possibilities with the wave of the hand.

Rather, it makes more sense to apply the learnings from the previous experience, that way, you stand a better chance at succeeding.

Concealing Concealer…

She dabbed on several layers of concealer,

In an attempt to hide her bruised cheek.

She covered her eyes with big, dark sunglasses,

So that no one would notice its pink-tinged state.

She wore turtle-necked and long-sleeved loose tops,

All bright and shiny,

To hide all the bumps and scrapes.

But what she failed to do,

Was to conceal the damage to her heart.

It’s important to note that no amount of hiding and disguising can protect or help an abused woman. If you are in an abusive relationship, seek help before it becomes too late to do that.

Peeking and Clicking…

I honestly can’t claim that I have a fair idea of what I’m doing. In fact, I would be lying if I claimed to know. I am just having fun with today’s assignment since I am out all day with my troop.

According to today’s photo 101 prompt ‘Glass, Squared,’ we are to incorporate glass in today’s image: a window, a mirror, a wine glass, sunglasses or something else. It doesn’t matter what form the glass takes.

So here I go tinkering and peeking in or out.
