Rononvan's Weekly Haiku Challenge

Wind of life…Ronovan writes weekly haiku challenge.

I totally enjoyed this week’s haiku prompt ‘fresh wind’ from Ronovan, so I tried my hand on three 🙂

A fresh lick of paint
gave his jalopy
a new wind of life.

***

The fisherman’s lulling boat
needs fresh gusts of wind
to reach the shore.

***

ill wind blew out her candle
not giving up
she simply lit a fresh one.

My Thinking Corner

Tuesdays Trickles…My thinking corner # 26

Every Tuesday, I share snippets of thoughts that I call ‘My Thinking Corner.’

I would like to invite you to participate. The challenge is quite simple. You can check this link for more details.

As you can imagine, like so many people, the recurring events going on around the World leads my mind down the path of ‘tolerance.’

“Tolerance is giving every other human being every right that you claim for yourself.” Robert Ingersoll

“Compassion and tolerance are not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength.” Dalai Lama

When we tolerate each other despite our differences, we give room for peace and life.

Awesome thoughts come your way through these beautiful friends:

Killing each other: this is a thoughtful poem from Rosema filled with unanswered questions that have been dancing in our minds. Please read.

The burden of hate: short truth from Dollops of heedful rambling. Letting go is to rise and live.

I hope that you find these little drops useful now and again. Do check them out and please share snippets of your thoughts with us.

Thanks and blessed be.

Everyday People

Please Look!…Every day beautiful people # 66

*Photo deliberately blurred for privacy*

Wheel_chair[1]

Yesterday, I had to get some bloodwork done at the hospital and despite not feeling my usual stellar self, my sense of observation did not leave me.

I watched the men in the photo walk past me, both scrolling through their phones and paying a little less attention to where they were headed.

Like a poorly written script, they missed the bold caution sign on the floor outlining the step down leading outside and the wheeled in chap took a bad tumble.

I presume he must have twisted something because his friend had to help him up, then got a wheelchair and brought him back inside.

The phone fascination is becoming a worrying trend.

I absolutely love this book of poems. My favorites are “Love Rations” (for those who love to give the silent treatment) and “Beggars Supper” (which definitely pulls at the heart strings). Two thumbs up!!

Haunted!…

His wife’s cool hands on his shoulders halted Sanders from further destruction as he took another swing at the sculpture with his club.

He couldn’t count the number of times the sculpture taunted him, taking on fiendish proportions in a nightmare until he smashed it to pieces and then made a new one from scratch, once again resembling his tomboyish, young sister with her sweet looking face.

No matter what everyone said, no matter that his mother never openly expressed her blame, he held himself responsible.

What if he always wondered?

What if he had accompanied her to the cinema that fateful night many years ago as their mother had suggested?

Would she be alive now? Would that have deterred the monster who kidnapped her, that by the time her body was found, she was desecrated in ways beyond words?

Sanders was perpetually haunted by these thoughts and it was worse that the monster was still out there.

Unknown and roaming free.

Mundane Monday

Clocking in…Mundane Monday.

Mundane Monday challenge is created to find beauty in almost everything.

The challenge is simple : find beauty in everyday mundane things, capture the beauty and upload the photographs.

Time[1]

I was rushing to meet someone and arrived a few minutes before our agreed time. When I looked at the clock that they had on the wall, I still had two minutes to sit down and catch my breath before stepping in for the chat.

As I sat there, I ruminated a bit on how this everyday gadget called ‘clock or watch,’ has become a trusted custodian of time. We rely on it in so many ways – sometimes annoying us when alarm shrieks to wake you up or when the time seems to run away too fast or go too slow dependent on one’s circumstance.

As you get older, you become a classic and viewed with respect. It’s inevitable that we all go through this process (hopefully) and it’s a blessing to live long.

Let’s remain young at heart even when our body ages in other places:-)
