I went visiting home – Naija several days ago. It was a trip of mixed feelings. I was happy to see home and family but not too happy with the slow progression of things back home. The government just hasn’t served its people well.
Well, all is well that ends well. It was a good trip and I traveled back to base in Dubai, jumping right back into the bus(y)ness of life.
Lady Lee’s all set off to the Philippines – another country on my list. I know she’ll bring back loads to see 🙂
If you would like to show us your neighbourhood, the challenge is quite simple and you can find out more about it through this link.
Sights and sounds of Lagos
Sights and sounds of Lagos
More sights and sounds
Yet more
and more
Beautiful Wears
I love colourful beads
Beautiful artifacts
Nursing a mug of hot Costa Macchiato
Staring out of my window – I love seating near the window so that I can peer out ceaselessly
A lovely professional Emirates airline hostess.
It’s all quiet in the cabin – night time
Sights and sounds of the airport. This scene particularly touched me. The little woman (to the right) hugged her daughter (I presume) so tight and was crying unabashedly. I wondered what their story was.
Some mall entertainers at Mall of the Emirates
Going for dinner – Hubby certainly missed me 😉
Tasty Shrimps
and my plate of salad
…and then to the movies to watch a chick flick – Bridget Jone’s baby. Hubby sat through it patiently. After all, I sit through endless sessions of football 😉
A wordsmith with a vivid imagination, an eager mind and a burning desire to carve out tales. As I journey with my muse to that land of all possibilities and self discovery, I hope my personal evolution will serve as a beacon of inspiration for anyone who chooses to stop by.

Good to see the photos of Naija, reminds me of Ghana. Yes, the slowness of progress needs correction and to do that a new mindset of fairness and honesty as well as belief and trust in each other is what we ought to aim for, act on and achieve. Dubai photos look great too, so I shall take the journeys but vicariously through your post until I can make it in person. Yipee to your hubby for creating ‘your going out quality time’. Wasn’t the film so funny in many parts though?
I loved that film. Funny and sweet in many ways. Yes indeed I wish something could be done about the slowness. It’s just not right that a Continent (Africa) that has been blessed with so much material resources, yet children of its various nations continue to suffer due to poor leadership. On the other hand, I think going away occasionally is good for couples 😉
Jackie,
I loved the necklaces you showed in your photos – from Naija.
We travelers are not sure any more where home is – is it in the country that nourishes us or the country that calls us back on all occasions ?
Susie
I know that feeling very well Susie. Some days I wake up thinking of Houston, or Nigeria, or France…We become wanderers in our soul 🙂
The necklaces are pretty.
Love the airport picture! I love airports because somehow there are stories all around and the emotions are honest in a way that everyday life doesn’t necessarily witness 🙂
You are so right. I’ve noticed that people are far more forthcoming at the airports. They willingly chat with total strangers. I wonder what the reason behind that is.
