Talking About Podcast

Podcasting is the next hot thing. Now and again a new medium catches on and you are left wondering what all the hype and buzz is about. I remember when I first heard the term ‘podcast,’ I was still trying to grasp the slippery ropes of blogging and I felt inundated with all the new geeky jargon out there, however, as I delved into knowing why this is becoming a popular media my interest latched on the idea of having free original content to listen to, that anyone who has something to say could create an engaging podcast, publish it to the world and find an audience. Old Habits – Friday Fiction in Five Sentences.

Passing the flower shop, he bought the usual – a beautiful bouquet of red carnations, she loves carnations on Saturdays.

Whistling, he walked slowly to the boulangerie and ordered his basket of the usual, grabbed a free newspaper and waited – he is a man of habits, formed over three scores of existence.

The tram pulled up, boarding along with other passengers, the next thirty-five minutes trundling ride was spent in a light conversation with the gentleman who sat beside him; they talked of little things and their rheumatism – he made a mental note to tell her about the interesting fellow who still wore his old tweed jacket and a dated fedora cap.

‘How is she today?’ He perfunctorily asked the stoic-faced nursing assistant and walked down the familiar corridor, passing room numbers 28, 29, 30 and then opened the door to her room, number 31; everything was as it should be.

Bert took off his coat, planted a cool kiss on Ida’s pale shrunken cheeks, patted her hand in a familiar dismissive mode and sat down to eat whilst he regaled her with little anecdotes of the past week; she stared at him with vacuous eyes, lost in a caged world of her own which he preferred, the staged accident was quite effective, he had grown tired of her nagging.

A Click A Day

Message from an unexpected place – A Click A Day

During my walkabout, I came across this shop with the cute, funny looking guys. Their fixed smile made me smile, then I looked up at the board hanging on the door, which reads;

Believe you can and you are halfway there.

That simple quote settled in my mind.

It was like a confirmation. I felt I was meant to see that message because I had been tussling with some thoughts and doubting myself.

The owner probably put it up just as an aesthetic piece – or maybe those words mean something to him/her too, but I felt as though it was meant especially for me. Have you had such experience?

Echos Of My Neighbourhood

Flattening My Gluteus Maximus – Echoes of My Neighbourhood

My Echoes this week has been more on my butt, making it flat writing posts for my new blog ‘The Art of Beautiful Expressions’ and curating photos to upload.

The weather is getting so lovely these day that it’s beauty beckons one to go out and explore and I intend to maximize the opportunity starting from this weekend.

Between the usual weekly runaround of trying to earn a livelihood to keep the body and soul together, keeping the family machine well-oiled and running, I clicked some photos for the week here and there, from a little adventure in a quaint elevator, running into a wedding party, speedy shopping…

Lady Lee shares some weekly smiles – a tasty platter made by her darling him indoors and gorgeous photos to feed the eyes.

Now, be a good neighbour and share yours with us 😉

On Thursdays, I share pictures about ‘Echos of my Neighbourhood.

I would like to invite you to participate. The challenge is quite simple and you can find out more about it through this link.

We will be having our monthly blog party this weekend – Saturday 29th – Sunday 30th. It’s a Halloween themed party. Stay tuned and hope to see you in your dreary, scary drag.

The Daily Post

Ban Them!

Image result for nigerians flag

My native land, Nigeria is currently going through recession under the leadership of a government that has taken the country backward by 30 years or more.

When I was just a little girl, under the same tiresome administration of this current President, who was an Army General and the Head of State of Nigeria, he ran the country aground with his austerity measures and structural adjustment programs that banned many things, left workers unpaid, depleted peoples’ resources and kept them hungry and oppressed until he was ousted in a coup.

What I fail to understand is how people forget history and its lessons. How they allow history to repeat itself over and over again? Is it mere stupidity or blindness?

I sincerely believe that there should be a ban on old codgers who have dubious, selfish and narcissistic ambitions from ruling any Nation.

The story never ends well!

The Little Shopper – A Click A Day

It was interesting to watch the little boy with his own shopping trolley busy himself selecting items of his choice.
I would have totally loved to see how his mother talked herself out of this shopping spree at the counter, unfortunately, I was dashing off to get my children from school.

Gratitude

Abundance of Grace

picsart_10-26-07-14-591

When I was a little girl, we would match to the beat of the school drum in our pinafore’s, singing in our high-pitched staccato voices ‘the day is bright, it’s bright and fair, oh happy day, a day of joy, the day is bright, it’s bright and fair, oh happy day of joy.’

The little girl in me has been humming this song each morning these past few days. Our weather is getting lovelier by the day. It’s no longer a melt in a puddle, burnt to bacon crisp temperature and I am so looking forward to making the best of this season.

The fact that nature blesses us with such respite is totally wonderful and yes, coupled with the fact that finally, I’ve launched my self-hosted blog, I feel light, merry and grateful.

I am fully aware that there are those who have multiple blog babies and quite frankly, I wondered how they kept up with all that and the rest of their lives with ease, but what each day teaches me is that once you set your heart on achieving something and you ask for the grace, it shall come in abundance.

Shall I tell you that my heart is filled with gratitude? Indeed it is! I didn’t expect the amount of support that I’ve received from you – my friends – once I announced that I’ve launched. You are truly an awesome community. Thank you.

When we ask, not only do we receive, but our abundance shall overflow.
