Midnight Motivations and Musings # 5…

1455257369553[1]

A saying in my place goes, ‘that success refuses to go to the house of those who fail to appreciate the success of others around them, because success feels that when she arrives, you will equally fail to appreciate her presence.’

Positive energy attracts positive things, we should therefore always try to appreciate the humble beginnings while we plan and wait for the bigger ones.

iWitness…The Antics Of 2 Pigeons.

1455275990756[1]

Nature teaches us a lot of lessons if we open our eyes to see them and learn.

One of the reasons that I enjoy my little walkies as often as I can fit it in, is that I am always rewarded by stumbling on glimpses of the simple things that inspires my mind and gets me thinking.

My family have grown used to my two steps forward, two steps halt or back and a pause to assimilate something.

These little things are the best things in life and they are totally free. They bring me so much contentment and stimulation.

I took a not so brisk walk off my usual route and this scene of two pigeons trying to pick at crumbs which were scattered on the road caused me to pause, find a leaning spot and watch.

Why was it interesting? It interested me because they both courted danger with cars moving around them. Of course they could easily fly off if a car got too close and one of them did run off when the heat got too much.

The determined one doggedly kept darting back to the pecking spot at every given opportunity , vigorously filling itself while the scared one stood by the sidewalk cooing.

I think I spent a good five minutes or more observing this antics and taking a few photos.

As I watched them, I had several thoughts running in my mind and some of the lessons I learnt and I will write them in quotes are:

‘A little more effort and a little more persisting, that which seemed like it was a hopeless case, might actually become an opportunity for a resounding success.’

‘We should not give up on our quest at the very first sight of a barrier.’

And the last quote from William Eardley IV came to my mind:

‘That ambition is the path to success and persistence is the vehicle that you arrive in.’

One bird ran off, the other stood his ground and was well rewarded.

I want to thank Amra and Spiritual Journey  for inviting me to take part in the quotes challenge and I would like to extend the invitation to these three bloggers:

Just For You…

1454311376168[1]

Quick motivational fact:

  • Walt Disney was fired from the Kansas City Star in 1919 because, his editor said, that he ‘lacked imagination and had no good ideas.’

Well, he obviously proved the editor wrong!

  • J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter novels was a waitress and on public assistance, when she wrote the first part of what would become one of the best selling series in history. The book was rejected by a dozen publishers. The only reason it got published at all was because the CEO’s eight year old daughter begged him to publish it.

That speaks for itself. So, rise and glow. Don’t let one or even several measly rejections keep you down. Your dream is as big as you want it to be.

Tuesdays Trickles

Every Tuesday, I share snippets of thoughts that I call ‘My Thinking Corner.’

I would like to invite you to participate. The challenge is quite simple.

Each Tuesday, share your very short snippets of positive, inspiring, motivating, health, spiritual, writing advice, clips, posts etc, that can serve as a prop to motivate others and simply add my link to your post.

I call it my thinking corner because, I actually take out a bit of time just to think through things, encapsulate my thoughts as much as possible and detoxify my mind.

It might work for you in a different way, but the idea is to get the positive thoughts flowing.

Every last Tuesday of the month, I will publish a post with the links of all those who participated through the month and their thoughts.

I hope to see you join. Best regards.

Blogging Dividends…personal

The measurement of success varies from one individual to the other and for me, mine is measured by the amount of positive pleasure that is derived in the pursuit of my passion.Dividend

For a whole lot, their success may only be cached on how much money is lining their pockets and if that is the case, then that deep satisfaction and contentment that comes from the unquantified simple things of life will continue to remain elusive in the never-ending need to make an extra buck.

Even though it’s a fact that one must earn a living however, one’s success should not only be determined by the yardsticks of the greenback.

The past fortnight have been such bloggisatisfying time for me that I kept going to bed each night with a wide smile pasted on my face.

It first started with Ben Huberman sending me a very polite and surprising mail inviting me to participate in contributing a theme/prompt for the just concluded poetry class and believe me when I say that my heart expanded in extra warmth.

I had not planned to take the class initially, but I am so delighted that I did and yes, I feel proud to have had my prompt chosen and even if such an opportunity never arises again, this was a big bolster for me, so I am preening. Thank you.

Then Carlos a darling blogger sent me a surprise letter which brought tears to eyes and my heart expanded some more.

In no way did I know that those little words that I kept sharing with him had such meaningful impact enough to warrant taking the time to write me a special letter.

This totally reminds me of these quotes: “Encouragement is said to be the oxygen for the human spirit. Do not forget you are carrying someone’s air with you. Encourage them. Help them breathe” – anonymous.

”Make someone smile whenever you can. You never know how much of a difference you could be making in their life at that moment.”

It’s me Saraa topped my weeks sweetness with her own ration of surprise sprinkles and I continued to smile.

And to complete my harvest of smiles, few weeks ago at the neighbourhood cafe, I met Lara, a lovely, smiley Filipino lady with whom I had a brief chat when I was busy scribbling and tapping away seriously on my laptop.

She struck a conversation asking me what I was working so intently on. I told her that it was my blog and she requested for the name, which I scribbled on a scrap of paper and gave to her.

Believe me when I say that I never thought that she would even bother. I just thought that she was being polite and that the scrap of paper would be lost even before the ink dried.

Well, I ran into her once again today and with smiles dotting her entire face she walked up to me and said Miss Jacqueline, I have been reading your blog.

You write and rhyme so well. I enjoy reading your blog in the evening. I am following you now and sent you an FB request.

I quickly checked my FB request status which has close to 200 or more requests yet to be answered *covering my face* and I accepted her request right there and then, but I simply felt like I had won some pretty penny.

We chit-chatted some more and I think I hummed back to my house or should I say tweeted back to my house in utter pleasure.

There you have it. I have seen a lot of magic and earned a lot of satisfaction this week. A good evening to you from Dubai.

The Game Of Best…

be yourself

There are no two ways about it, the utmost thing that I do better than anyone else is being myself.

I am an original of who I am and not a poor quality copy of someone else – well, except bits of my parents, who did the very needful to create me 😉

It is important to reaffirm this to oneself time and again, especially in voyeuristic recent times where the over-zealous drive to be perfect seems to increase more and more.

There is absolutely nothing wrong in striving to be the best that one can be, but there is something wrong in getting carried off in the drift of trying to be too many people at the same time; even a persons brain will surely get wonky and tired from the ping-pong of living lives or attempting to live lives that don’t belong to us. Never You

I may not be particularly adept at doing somethings that other people are very good at doing or being better than anyone as a matter of fact.

What I know for sure is that whatever interest that I develop, I try to put in the best of my ability and my real competitor is myself because I keep pushing my boundaries and keep aspiring to improve on my standards.

When we look at our palms, no two finger prints are the same, likewise, all fingers are definitely not equal. Each is characteristically different and that is how all human are different.

It is a foolhardy, frustrating, exhausting and stress inducing process to keep comparing notes and juggling the attempts to beat others.

There will always be someone better at one thing or the other.

Trying to be the very best at whatever your game is the first part of being the best and I must reiterate that in the game of best, being the best authentic you that you can be is better than being a confused nobody.

Lounging Recasts!

Around comes Monday, Quick, so Fast!

The Weekend is simply not so Vast!

Well! Its time to live now and forget the Last!

Till next Friday and another lounging Recast!

The picture above – Quick Forgotten History and Fact:

More than a thousand years ago, on a hill in Cordoba, Abass Ibn Firnas, the first Aviator, boldly set out to do what no man had done before. He was ready to test the first flying machine in recorded history.

It’s lovely to start the week and each day as a matter of fact with positive outlook. I find Leannenz Monday memes interesting.
