Trodden Soil…

Beaten Path, Poetry, Trodden, Route

I feel you and I
have walked this path,

long ago in the past
where precisely, I don’t know.

I see the beaten route
in the trodden soil

and your words touch me
without your knowing it

they echo in my soul
where I know I’ve heard them before.

Rononvan's Weekly Haiku Challenge

Irate and Amused…

Ronovan’s prompt for this week ‘amused & irate,’ reminds me of a recent episode at the airport where one lady started throwing temper tantrums when she wasn’t allowed to pass customs and immigration with some items in her back pack.

These days, it seems people are just ready to get into a squabble at the drop of a hat and on FaceBook you wonder if most of these folks who attack total strangers with their virulent words have lost their minds?

The angry lady became irate,

her curses, slurs and loud nasty behaviour

left us unamused and irritated.

In Disguise…

Quill, Writing, Poetry

my quill is a disguised weapon.
light as feather
it can soothe your nerves,
sharp as steel blade
it will lacerate you to shreds.

An Oasis…

It was a desert
but I chose to plant my dreams there,
now everyone comes to rest under my shade
for it has become an oasis

You Don’t Smell Good…

Quit Judging, Quotes

I have no patience
for those who spend
a better part of their time
judging and labelling others.

You’ve never worn
the other man’s shoes,
how exactly do you know
how undersized and pinching they are?

Quit being obtuse
You don’t smell like roses yourself.
If we look hard enough, I bet
there’s are loads of manure in your garden.

Tend to your own garden
called your life.
Concentrate on being the best you
that you can be.

Concentrate on being a supportive anchor
for someone who might be adrift,
but leave your judgment at the doorstep
otherwise, you’ll wear out your welcome.

Remember that not all who wander
have truly lost their path,
they are simply in search of a beacon
to help them find their way back.

Travel theme indoors: when we talk about travelling, some of us imagine it’s only when you depart for an expensive and exotic journey to destination Paris, Amsterdam etc. Your neighbourhood can be a good point of contact and knowledge if you care to indulge and benefit from your surroundings. Nice one Deborah 🙂

Wednesday’s visual writing prompt: this is a captivating read. I hope she expands it.

Where’s the love: a brief and true form of love.

Peasant and her King: when your King walks with you, you never weary because when he is beside you, He gives you strength. Beautifully said, Martha.

Despondent: depression and despondency can steal in at times like a silent thief to rob you of your joy, but know that you are not alone.

Jacqueline writes from her heart on passion, pain, suffering, loss and LIFE. I have been incredibly moved by her poetry and I know I will return to “Out of the Silent Breath” again and again.

Wispy clouds of perfection…

May we not strive for perfection,
for we shall break our backs

In pursuit of such elusive dreams,
we simply break our hearts

for perfection can never be caught,
no matter how hard it is sought

for like fine wisps of cloud,
they melt or move beyond our sights

leaving yawns of dissatisfaction behind,
or sending us on endless quests in our mind.

May we strive for greater purpose,
for contentment is awesome

for satisfaction is a comfortable bed to lay on,
with peace a priceless joy to know.

Perfection

I absolutely love this book of poems. My favorites are “Love Rations” (for those who love to give the silent treatment) and “Beggars Supper” (which definitely pulls at the heart strings). Two thumbs up!!

The gift of love…

picsart_02-07-10-29-441

To receive love
you’ve got to give love
open your heart
and love somebody
before it’s too late.

The magic of love
comes from the freedom
of giving it
and watching it multiply
in so many little ways.

When you’re just receiving
and not replicating by giving
or counting who gave most,
the joy of the free gift of love
will remain consistently lost to you.

She is amazing at describing love and life in her poems. She creates such beautiful images with her words. Truly, she is a talented writer and I’m so excited to have her poetry book and to continue reading through it.
