Gratitude

Waking with music…

“We thank thee each morning for a new-born day,” an old classic tune by Jim Reeves woke my brain up this morning and has been on redial all day in my head in the background of everything else that’s going on around me.

Do you find yourself stuck at times with a particular tune that follows you through the day, humming in the background of your mind?

This old song was a daily staple in my family home when my dad was alive. He would wake up early and start playing it followed by a medley of other music and I believe so much that this helped to set a happy mood and tone of the day as the household rose to this sound of music.

My thanks for today stems from having beautiful childhood memories that make me smile and warm my heart when I remember them.

It makes me know that even when a loved one is no longer here in the physical realm, that I have been blessed to have shared some time here on Earth with them and hold close the candle that they lit in my life.

Along with our thankfulness to God, our state of appreciation for our loved one’s should be expressed to them while we still have them with us. There’s never a better day to say ‘I love you’ or ‘I appreciate you’ than the day that you have.

Let me share the beautiful Jim Reeves song We thank thee with you.

There are several gratitude/thankful platforms in the blogosphere that you can tune into and get your ithankful going on. I can’t express in words the enormity of Joy and fulfilment that comes from having a heart of gratitude. Please check out Maria’s blog, Colline’s blog and Bernadette’s for thankful/gratitude challenges

Rare Findings…

The more rare an item is, the more expensive it becomes in some cases like the pot of honey below. Even the savant Pooh Bear will attest to the finest taste of this honey. There’s definitely something about it.

Sidr Honey

Sidr honey from Yemen is the rarest and most expensive honey in the world. Sidr honey is sought after because of it’s exquisite taste, it’s health benefits as a natural medicine, and it’s even known as a powerful aphrodisiac. The demand for real Sidr honey from Yemen is so high that it is known to sell for up to 1000$ per Kilogram and if one is not careful to purchase from the right sources, they can be sold the fake product.

Rare Coins

Money has evolved in value over centuries but coins still retain their basic round shape. I wonder what the real cost of these coins found at an archaeological site in Baghdad will be.

Gramophone

A year ago, I saw this grand lady sitting in a corner of a hotel ballroom, whilst music floated through the speakers of the modern CD player. I closed my eyes and imagined the fine & country classics that breezed through the gramophone and the nicely dressed gentry to twirled and twisted to the jives 🙂

Easy Mornings…

I am a morning person, though there are some morning’s that have found me crawling out of my bed on the wrong side, all grumpy and Debby downer, but I always try to get a grip on my day before I sink into a miry bog of feeling down, ‘cos it’s so easy to spiral down faster than rising up.

I literally wake up with prayer on my mind and force of habit makes me peek out of the window first thing in the morning to see what the day looks like, then head to the bathroom to do the needful – blasting the bones awake under the shower has a way of perking up the spirit and I do this even when I know that I’m just going to take a brisk walk or lounge.

In easy steps, I enjoy music anytime of the day, but early in the mornings has a way of putting a bounce in my steps.

The running man: Can you do the running man dance? Maybe you’ll learn it today. Let me know how it goes 😉

The grass is always greener in the other decade: Some of our fantasy are best left that way. Do you remember your teenage crush and how he/she seemed like the best thing after ice-cream? This post took me down memory lane.

Finally, a bit of rest relaxation: There are times we need to loose the bindings and just chill. It does the body and soul good.

A most pleasant dirge: I must say this dirge does arouse several interesting thoughts.

Music is the electrical soil
