Midnight Motivations and Musings #49

Most times we are told to look at our areas of strength and to capitalise on them and in so doing leave our weak areas to lag behind.

Have we considered that our weak areas could be our diamonds in the dirt, waiting on us to dig them out?

Have we considered that our weak links could be focused on, strengthened and become sources of a positive turnaround as well as a source of inspiration for other people?

A lot of times, we spend time trying to hide our flaws and weaknesses so that others won’t judge us, that we fail to see the good sides of them.

I am learning to look at every cracked piece of me. To take it apart piece by piece and see them as truly are.

Who knows, I might just discover several raw gems and beautiful flaws in the buff.

Have a good go at it!

Midnight Motivations and Musings # 46

1459417777747[1]

Ever since I made up my mind to let go of dwelling on non-essentials that didn’t further my existence and probably only contributed to making a miserable day, I found more peace.

Ever since I chose to make conscious, deliberate efforts to apply positive affirmations and frame of mind to my days, it only got better.

Yes, it is possible to live a purpose-driven life.

Yes, happiness is a deliberate choice.

Yes, each day can be as best as we can make it all things being equal.

Of course there are things that are out of our control, like nature and other people’s actions, but we run our own workshop of our minds and home.

Indeed, there are days that are a bit off, but, I’ve observed that once you get into the habit of positive thoughts and living, such moods and days barely last because your mind fights to switch to the frame that works best for it.

Your days are as good as you make them. Be happy not by trying to convince others, but by being yourself and the best that you can be.

Midnight Musings and Motivations # 45…

A lot of times, we have challenges that we face but lack the zeal to take them on.

Once our spirit to take them on is down, we find that the voice of pessimism and all the possible excuses will offer themselves on shiny platters for us to choose from.

However, the downturn to helping ourselves to the platter of excuses is that it’s often accompanied by a cane for self-flagellation and guilt, which will eventually show itself when the consequences of our actions or inactions dawn on us.

Sometimes, we need not have huge amounts of faith or courage.

Indeed,  a peanut-sized one will suffice, but if we can dig in our heels and get started with it, you find that the zeal and courage required to continue surfaces.

A whole lot of times, for fear of being hurt, or losing out, we choose to sit on the fence rather than dabbling and trying our best.

Easy does it quite alright and it’s essential to exercise caution before jumping into any venture or as the case may be a relationship.

However, we cannot because of previous bad experience rule out every other opportunity to try again.

Like my people would say, we cannot because of fear of shooting, avoid going to war when the need arises. For example, the fact that Tim broke your heart, doesn’t mean John will do so. For all you know, John might be that partner you’ve been seeking for.

Secondly, because one business endeavour failed, you cannot write off all other possibilities with the wave of the hand.

Rather, it makes more sense to apply the learnings from the previous experience, that way, you stand a better chance at succeeding.

My Thinking Corner

Tuesdays Trickles…My Thinking Corner #15

Every Tuesday, I share snippets of thoughts that I call ‘My Thinking Corner.’

I would like to invite you to participate. The challenge is quite simple.

Each Tuesday, share your very short snippets of positive, inspiring, motivating, health, spiritual, writing advice, clips, posts etc, that can serve as a prop to motivate others and simply add my link to your post.

I call it my thinking corner because, I actually take out a bit of time just to think through things, encapsulate my thoughts as much as possible and detoxify my mind. It helps give me clarity of vision and might help you too.

It might work for you in a different way, but the idea is to get the positive thoughts flowing.

Please send in your little thoughts. You never know whose life you might inspire.

  • None of us is less than the first. Whoever decides for him or herself that they are unworthy to be so, has already  resigned to settle.
  • The day our lives begin to be ruled by the strictures of the fear of living is the day we begin to die even while alive.
  • Our achievements are akin to our love. They both require sacrifice from us.
  • Running water doesn’t stop when it meets a rock. It finds a way to drip through.
  • Without any vision, we wander aimlessly and would have no sense of direction. Always tune into your mind to seek for your vision and revisit as often as is required.

Our last week thinkers brought in dollops of good thoughts that I am totally loving 🙂

Words of wisdom If we all think the way Deb does, maybe there’s hope for humankind.

Kindred spirits ‘Let not differences divide us, let not hatred poison us, we are all one.’ Can you say it better than this?

Positive thoughts Here is what I have to say about this inspiring post ‘One thing that I love Annette is your candid expressions without coming across as arrogant. Who said that you can’t teach and old dog new tricks? Call out the person and I will prove him/her wrong. Beautiful post.’

Above from Rosema says it all in six short words.

The above quote can be likened to an ailing patient who buys all the drugs and keeps them locked in a cupboard for safe-keeping :/

Of course, the patient will remain sick.

Change can only come about when it’s applied and not from wishful thinking.

Change is a deliberate decision, backed up with actions that over time and practice becomes a character trait.

Some are afraid of trying for change because of the fear of failure, which is a worse scenario.

It’s better to try and repeat over and over, than to sit in the same situation through a lifetime. What a waste that would be!

It’s definitely important to review our steps from time to time, to see where we are and where we are coming from.

However, you shouldn’t feel dissuaded if you do a review and find that things are dragging a bit and not working out as fast as you would want, especially if you look and perceive that others might be running faster.

These days, life is on the micro-wave lane and we almost expect everything around us to fall into such category, but there are things that we cannot necessarily change as fast as we wish.

What we have to do, is to establish a rhythm that we can sustain.

Success is built over time, with patience and diligence. It’s not a sprint, but a long-drawn marathon, filled with hills, valleys, cobblestones to trip you up and sometimes muddy swampy pathways with noisome mosquitoes along the track 🙂

Just keep going. Each day, add another jigsaw to the puzzle.

It’s sad and amusing at the same time when people come across with the perception that good fortune comes from luck.

That is absolutely balderdash and misleading. Good fortune has to find you working on it.

Yes, indeed there are those who have been beneficiary’s of fortune that they’ve not necessarily worked for, by virtue of birth or winning a lottery, but the ratio is so insignificant for anyone to fold their hands and expect lady luck to come smiling with shiny teeth.

Remember the saying that ‘HEAVEN helps those who help themselves.

When you take those necessary steps each day, things align and the windows of possibilities keeps opening up.

To grow we need to take ‘positive risks’ in our pursuits and keep pushing the bar up.

If we don’t push the bar, we stagnate and become redundant.

It’s definitely needful to think through our steps and not to jump into impulsive actions that would only negate our efforts, however, over-processing can equally be a buzz killer and source of procrastination.

You may experience bumpy take-offs, even sustaining the momentum could get very turbulent, but clearly defining and redefining your goals, concentrating, caring about what you are doing and holding yourself accountable will lead you to your desired post.

Keeping these things in the front of one’s mind helps keep you grounded and stable.

You’ve got to care enough to make it worthwhile.

Midnight Motivations and Musings # 35

Dreams don’t only occur when we sleep.

We can also dream with eyes wide open, okay maybe glazed over with a silly goofy smile plastered on.

I am learning to deliberately sit back and stretch my mind the way that I would stretch my muscles and even though this might sound juvenile, it surprises me sometimes, how far I can stretch them.

It tells me that if my mind can conceive it, then I can find ways to accomplish it by giving it my best shot.

We tend to use all the self limiting excuses under the Sun as a limitation to arriving at our desired goals.

Maybe, it’s time we tried to dump the excuses and start dreaming as well as whittling away at it.

Good luck.
