In Good Measure… Midnight Musings

Quote, LifeLessons, Wisdom, Your Portion, Poetry

Never forget that the measure you give,
is the measure you will receive.

You can’t sow corn and harvest pumpkins.
You can’t sow hatred and reap a bounty of love.
When you uplift others, you rise up with them.

However, when you spend time holding someone down,
you stay down with them because you need all your energy
to keep them pressed to the floor or the wall.

If only you can remember this,
apply it in your relationship with everyone that you meet.

You, my dear friend, will have a good measure,
pressed down, shaken and running over
added continuously to your life.

Midnight Motivations and Musings #24

So many latent talents lies in each and every one of us, so it always surprises me when someone says that they don’t have any talents.

That is an absolute lie. Every human was created equipped with a store house of dormant talents waiting to be tapped.

Some are out-rightly glaring in the face of the bearer and everybody around them, while some talents have to be discovered, developed and honed to bring out it’s optimum potential.

The more an iron is rubbed on a grinding stone, the sharper it becomes. When these potentials are not explored, the natural tendency is that it well remain stunted and never mature to any fruitful stage.

Some are simply too lazy to want to bother taking the time to think and find out that thing that really makes their heart sing.

In some cases, some move with whatever seems to be in vogue at that point in time.

Just because everybody else is doing it does not make it fit or right for you.

At the end of the day, when the movement becomes directionless and like driftwood, frustration sets in, time passes by and they wonder what happened to their lives.

It’s never too late to find and enjoy the talents that have been poured into you. Age notwithstanding.

It’s only too late when life is gone and the grave yard becomes the depository of potentials which have been allowed to go to waste.

P.S. check the word talent and latent… can you see that they both spell the same.

The Learning Place….

empowerment-through-education

An institution of learning for children must have the basic learning instructions of reading, writing and arithmetic’s.

I wonder where I  would be,  if I hadn’t learnt to read?

That would have been a sorry shame because I may not have been able to talk to you.

The wonders and places gleaned between the pages of a book would elude such a soul. The man who reads  visits a thousand place’s but a man who doesn’t read,  remains in one place.

The learning process of these basic skills will help the learner’s acquire required skills to function and blend into a larger society, as well as laying the foundation which equally serves as their   springboard to  excel in  their chosen pursuits.

If I had the opportunity to set up  an institution of learning ground up, asides from the usual subjects that are taught in the  four walls of a school, I would emphasize on student’s learning basic survival skill acquisition as well as other skill sets and talents which can be harnessed optimally.

Ethics, etiquette, empathy, generosity, respect and self-respect should also form part of a young child’s social sciences formation, especially in these times when the  focus  seems to be more selfish inclined with the spirit of entitlement pervading the society.

Let us remember that the mind of  a child is a tabula rasa, absent of preconceived ideas or predetermined goals a pure clean slate on which to write and as the good Bible states, we should raise a child in the way that he should go and when he grows, he shall not depart from it.

In response to The Daily Post prompt The New School

You get to redesign school as we know it from the ground up. Will you do away with reading, writing, and arithmetic? What skills and knowledge will your school focus on imparting to young minds?
