Midnight Motivations and Musings 111

There comes a time when the ‘use by date’ of some people in our lives expires and we have to let them go. Those who can’t stand to see your progress, whose main roles as the Negative Nancy’s and Ned’s  is to discourage and remind you of a hurtful past,  as a way to keep  you pegged under their thumbs and forever cloaked in self-doubt.

These people exercise mind control over you and subconsciously, you are allowing them to manipulate your life one way or the other – when you have to hope for moral support that is never forthcoming, hide your true desires, or reduce yourself before them, in order to accommodate their scoffing disbelief, peevishness and other symptoms that they tend to exhibit, it’s time to put them to pasture and walk away. Not every friendship is built to last and have a fairytale forever ending.

  • Wishing that you have a different life is simply channeling negative energy into your psyche and that manifests in your life in many conscious and subtle ways that you may not even be aware of.
  • This is the only opportunity that you get, therefore your priority should be to make the best of it.

We all have things that we failed to get right or ways that our life could have been better if we had made certain choices in the past; well, the truth is that we didn’t make those choices; the truth is that this is the point where we are. Do we continue to look back and whine in our heads, or do we forge ahead, making better choices as we go, knowing that we are getting older and each day that slips by is gone for good?

When I sat on the park bench,

she floated to the ground

right before my feet.

I felt like stepping on her,

to feel the crinkle of the dry fallen leaf

under my bare toes.

Seeing her difference,

I paused and took note;

my mind saying, let her be.

Don’t squash her into the ground,

allow her to live her dreams ,

even if they be for another day or two.

For all, I may know,

she’s been dying to lie down,

tired of hanging on limbs

that made her sway up and down.

Just let her be;

said my mind.

Let her have her peace.

I wrote this as I watched the leaves, my mind dwelling on many little things.

Life is a continuum and as much as we don’t like our comfort being disturbed the truth is that after a while your comfort zone becomes stale, discomforting and claustrophobic.

In order to keep growing, we have to consistently stretch the limbs of our imagination. The strength of our creativity, our physical and spiritual growth is highly dependent on how we dare ourselves to grow from the familiar to unfamiliar. Don’t settle! Don’t stagnate. Keep pushing for higher grounds. The harder you push, the easier it becomes.

This analogy can be likened to a crab that periodically molts and sheds its exoskeleton which would leave it vulnerable and fragile for some time while it continues to grow into its new shell and then molts again when it’s inelastic shell becomes too tight.

Be that crab.

When we were young we were full of ambition, dreams, and drive, but when we get to a certain age there’s the tendency to let go of our deep desires, which gives way to the need to just get along with living and paying the bills. We unconsciously tell our minds that we are too old to pursue certain dreams.

This creates a chasm of dissatisfaction deep inside anyone who has found themselves in such a position and it just never goes away no matter how much effort is made to mask such desires.

When we realize that our destiny lies in our hands through our thinking; when we realize that so long as we still inhabit our bodies and notwithstanding the fact that we grow older, that as long as we’re mentally, physically and spiritually able, we can still pursue some of those dreams that gave us bright eyes and lit up our hearts.

I’ve seen people obtain degrees in their old age, change careers or start a business late in life. Never stop dreaming. Never stop pursuing your dreams.

Deb sends in inspiring words of wisdom. Take a peek 🙂

Midnight Motivations and Musings 109…

The niggling doubts that hound our efforts are the enemy of our progress and once undue attention is paid to such doubts, fear sets in.

It’s natural to question and think through a project that you want to embark on, but our reasoning and decisions have to be taken from a logical standpoint.

Like my people would say ‘not everything that crawls on its belly is a snake,’ in other words, not every doubt that comes up is worth the time of the day. Keeping focused may be difficult but it’s worth the while to keep one’s eyes on the objectives.

Over the past few months, I’ve had struggles, but I’ve refused to let these struggles define nor stop me and each day, the burden of doubt reduces.

♥ Start paying attention and listening to what you say.

♥ If you hear yourself consistently using negative or self-limiting words; change them.

Remember that as a man thinks in his heart, so is he and there’s definitely power in our thoughts and our words. There’s usually a fine line between saying the truth about how you feel or what’s going on in your life in a positive way and being filled with negative energy that refuses to give room for better positive consciousness.  I’ve met people who are so filled with negativity and yet they wonder why they can’t be happy or get the best out of their circumstances. It’s all about choices. We choose how we think and there’s power in that positive thinking.

Lady Cee sends in precious quotes and thoughts that worth reflecting on. Do take a peek.

Be happy.

Looking at this shrub that jutted proudly and stubbornly out of the half cemented, sandy patch brought a lot of thoughts to my mind in relation to human life and I’ll share a few:

My mother always says that “when the beat to the dance changes, you change your rhythm or you are out.”

When life gets uncomfortable one just doesn’t give up, but they look for other ways of turning the discomfort into a comfort zone. That’s the only way to survive, for surely harsh times will come, but might not endure.

When others are planting shallow roots, take the extra time to make yours several inches deeper, because a strong foundation withstands more turbulence.

Sometimes, when our circumstances change, we should take our eyes away from the immediate picture that doesn’t look too bright and focus on the strength within as well as the bigger picture ahead of us. Like is said back home “that food that is hot right now, will eventually cool down, for no condition is permanent.”

It’s amazing how a small, jutting proud piece of grass made me philosophical, but what is the alternative to standing one’s ground?

Giving up?

That’s not an option!

Have a great week.

When we sit idle and make redundant wishes, hoping that X, Y, and Z will happen to bring about the changes that we seek, we are possibly wasting time and valuable opportunities. A wishful thought can only come to fruition with action.

If you don’t like where you are planted, then consider shifting around for a better spot.

If you don’t like how your life story reads, turn another page and start a new chapter.

If you don’t like certain things about your community, what are you doing to make a difference, no matter how small?

Every step taken brings you closer to your hope as long as you are taking that step.
