Midnight Motivations and Musings # 69

I could go on and on about this particular thought because I have so much to say, but I will just leave a few lines.

There are people who live with the constant victim mentality that it does appear that everything seems to be about them.

No doubts, there are those who have been grossly victimised, but what matters most is how they address these issues that face them.

Do they use these challenges as a ladder to rise out of their situation or do they lie their minds down like a mat and allow the aggressor to walk all over them?

The sad reality is that the World is just what it is. It’s not going to change for you because as long as there’s mankind, there will always be those who don’t care about hurting others.

Rather, you will be the one to change your way of thinking and rise out of that slavery mentality that envelopes your mind.

Once you rise out of such thoughts and break free from victim mode, you actually defeat your aggressor by no longer lending him/her free room in your life.

Loving Yourself

Everyone deserves to love and be loved and true love first starts with you.

Loving yourself and accepting that you are whole and worth it, is not being self-centered.

You should know that you are enough without expecting someone else to complete you. It’s a fallacy to anticipate that. No one can complete another.

They can only complement what you already have, thus when you feel inadequate, your sense of inadequacy emanates from within and this is not something that someone else can fix.

What happens when they are no longer there or when they fail to fulfil all your expectations?

How long will someone else have to patch you up?

When will you realise that you are worth loving you for you?

If you are unable to love yourself for your own sake and treat yourself appropriately, then it will be  difficult to cascade a non-existent blessing to someone else, for it’s really out of what you’ve got that you can give others.

God’s love is free and without encumbrances.

Naturally as humans, when we are witnesses to the success of others, there’s a deep inclination inside us that experiences a tinge of envy and want.

This is what gives birth to rivalry and competitiveness.

However, there are ways of harnessing our human need to excel and thrive without letting jealous notions be the main driver or our desire.

One, it’s not sustainable to operate that way because your function will be based on clouded emotions that will get the better of you.

Two, it’s never been a successful line to tow and a jealous master is a dangerous one.

Asides from the scriptural angle of things, it’s simply a terrible way for one to spend their lives comparing themselves to others.

It’s a far better approach seeking your own route. If you per chance admire the work of someone else and wish to do the same, be pragmatic about it. Learn

Personally, I have sometimes found myself in a quandary as I am filled with an ambitious drive to achieve so much simultaneously and the lessons learnt by so doing, is that something always suffers for the other.

There’s no way to do so many things excellently well when the attention span has been spread so thin.

The need to accomplish often comes hand in hand with the feeling that one is a bit behind, thus the attempt to bundle up and get so much done becomes irresistible.

However, taming the desire to rev all engines and streamlining these projects yields a better result.

One feels less pressured and more productive when they set a deliverable timeline for each one and take it one after the other.

Midnight Motivations and Musings 65…

At times, out of fear of the unknown, we hold ourselves hostage as we hold on far too long to things that have ceased to work.

Those relationships that leave us ill instead of enriching our lives, no satisfaction from jobs that drain us while on the highway to nowhere, a lifestyle that has gone bankrupt and done more harm than good…there are so many crooked lines.

For as long as we hold onto those crooked lines, we don’t free our hands to draw and hold on to better ones.

It’s not always that a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. A bird in hand might peck your hands bloody and finish your seeds, yet it’s neither singing nor hatching meaningful stuff.

Sometimes, not holding a bird for a while might be a better deal. It opens your mind to think on how to go after the two in the bush.

When you are committed to doing something, you wait for no one, especially when it’s something that you are meant to do by yourself and for your well being.

Don’t sit waiting for love or life to find you. Go out and get the life and the love will follow.

Sometimes, in order to move on, we need to cease waiting and get going.

When our minds are fixed on knowledge that is redundant and has gotten us nowhere, we leave no room to expand our minds or understanding.

We don’t know it all. We can never know it all.

For us to learn more than we know, we may have to throw away other preconceived and empty notions that occupy space in our lives.

Even our minds deserve a detox.

A lot of times, pursuing our passion will take a whole lot of our hearts, heads and everything else that we’ve got to give and this is mostly where the challenge lies.

In as much as money makes things easier, money has never stopped a man whose driving aspiration consumes him. They will always find a way to chase it with their zeal.

Often times, we are not ready to make the commitment that such aspirations require and we mask our inabilities by using very legitimate reasons. Other times, doubt may erode our dreams and they die a painful death never having been birthed.

You’ve got to deal with the doubts.

Finding resolutions to issue’s requires looking at them from different perspectives.

If a mind is fixated on a thought that rejects other angles of views, chances are that such a view will be skewed as well as myopic.

The mind of a thinking man is expandable beyond our imagination and only limited by the measure of our thinking.

It’s often interesting how we keep putting off things that our heart is set on doing as we wait for the right time to arrive.

When is the right time? How do we identify it? Will it come knocking on our door to announce it’s arrival? Will it ever arrive?

Some say it’s when they’ve got enough money set aside, some say that they are waiting for the children to grow up and there are yet many more excuses.

The whole glaring truth is that there will never be the right time except we make it happen. Excuses will always be bountiful and they cost several dozens for nothing, however, the cost of using excuses can be quite expensive.

Let’s start seeking that right time today. Today is it.
