Dear Stranger…Every day beautiful people 68

“Dear stranger, you are lovely. Have a beautiful day today. With love from another Stranger.”

Walking_man[1]

I went to the African store where I buy my condiments for our native food and for some reason, this man caught my eye. I don’t know why, but he simply did.

I absolutely love this book of poems. My favorites are “Love Rations” (for those who love to give the silent treatment) and “Beggars Supper” (which definitely pulls at the heart strings). Two thumbs up!!

Diversity no. 1…Every day beautiful people #67

“It’s time for parents to teach young people early on, that in diversity, there’s beauty and there’s strength.” Maya Angelou

“No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” Nelson Mandela

The World is made beautiful by its diversity. We must learn to embrace the fact that others are different and have a right to be.

We should never allow the evil antics of misguided few to dictate how we relate as humans.

Please Look!…Every day beautiful people # 66

*Photo deliberately blurred for privacy*

Wheel_chair[1]

Yesterday, I had to get some bloodwork done at the hospital and despite not feeling my usual stellar self, my sense of observation did not leave me.

I watched the men in the photo walk past me, both scrolling through their phones and paying a little less attention to where they were headed.

Like a poorly written script, they missed the bold caution sign on the floor outlining the step down leading outside and the wheeled in chap took a bad tumble.

I presume he must have twisted something because his friend had to help him up, then got a wheelchair and brought him back inside.

The phone fascination is becoming a worrying trend.

Aging…Every day beautiful people #65

“Aging is not lost youth, but a new stage of opportunity and strength.” Betty Friedan

“Age is no barrier. It’s a limitation you put on your mind.” Jackie Joyner-Kersee

Aging[1] Aging_1[1]

As you get older, you become a classic and viewed with respect. It’s inevitable that we all go through this process (hopefully) and it’s a blessing to live long.

Let’s remain young at heart even when our body ages in other places:-)

Men’s love for flashy…Every day beautiful people # 64

“Men love women but, even more than that, men love cars.” Christian Mckay

Men_and_cars[1]

It was just interesting to watch the smile and gleam in the eyes of these gentlemen as they admired the ritzy, gleaming red, little ride.

I actually think this red ride is more my thing than theirs. I can see myself in a bigger version to accommodate my ampleness, with the roof down, my scarf and locks flying in the air as I nip about town 😉

Well, let’s keep that thought in my mind’s eye for now.

Besotted Readers…Every day beautiful people # 63

“Books are a uniquely portable magic.” Stephen King

Readers[1]

We buy books like the magical garden for the children but derive utmost pleasure from reading them and being child-like again 😉

Sometimes, I wonder who gets the most pleasure, the adult who is still a child at heart or the child who soaks up the words in innocent wonder?

I know a lot of us who enter bookstores and come out buying more books than we planned to 🙂

I am guilty all the time.

Repose…Every day beautiful people # 62

“Very little is needed to make a happy life; it’s all within yourself, in your way of thinking.” Marcus Aurelius

“Life is pretty much what we make of it and to finding peace and pause in the midst of a hectic day is the sweet spot.” Jacqueline

The weather has heated up quite a bit, but these men are able to find some repose on their push carts. The heat actually tends to make one feel a bit lethargic.

I have to say I’m in awe and spellbound by her poetry. She is amazing at describing love and life in her poems. She creates such beautiful images with her words. Truly, she is a talented writer and I’m so excited to have her poetry book and to continue reading through it.

Sweet Affection…Every day beautiful people 60

Call me inquisitive or curious and you are probably right, but I can’t help loving to watch people. It’s called Social Engineering 😉

While waiting for the train, I sat for a quick coffee and sandwich and enjoyed the warmth exuding from the young couple and their gorgeous baby who were seated near me.

My nosy self couldn’t help engaging the Pakistani couple in a conversation. Seeing a man show his wife some tender affection is not a common sight over here and their quiet joy in each other was simply infectious and heartwarming.

The photos are deliberately blurred at their request. It was a privilege to be around them. I went away smiling 🙂

Timeout…Every day beautiful people # 59

“It’s always good to take a little time out of your busy life to focus just on yourself and if you’ve got a friend to share a cup with, that’s goodness tasted and remembered.” Jacqueline

Friends_drinking[1]

It’s a weekend good folks. There’s nothing like a little timeout to chill and natter with a good friend with some music in the background, or,

to chill all by yourself with a compelling good read, soft music, a warm cuppa or glass of cold drink – whichever suits you best 🙂

Enjoy. Love and light

Out of the silent breath

I listen to the tinkles of the water,

the thrums of the guitar and the deep rhythm of the bass.

No words are said, as you stare deeply into my eyes.

The look caught within your pupils, mirrors all the love trapped inside

aching to flow out, a syllable at a time. Just like that soft jazz.
