Rononvan's Weekly Haiku Challenge

Bachata – Ronovan Writes Weekly Haiku

When I saw the haiku prompt please & tease, Chaka Demus song ‘tease me, tease me, tease me, baby, till I lose control,’ came to my lips, I knew my prompt had to be musical.

Get In The Nook!

A well-equipped quiet library fills my mind with such satisfaction. Looking at the books from row to row, one is always spoilt for choice.

There’s so much to read and not enough time to read them all.

Library, books, reading, knowledge, information

Therapy

Emma’s relationship with water is best described as fearful fascination. It’s taken more than two decades to get her to accept to sit by the waters without having an anxiety attack.

The doctor feels that part of her therapy is to reconcile with what happened and Jack buttresses this opinion with frequent plans to visit the seaside and the suggestion that the children should learn how to swim well in water bigger than their bathtub.

Commonsense tells her that’s the right thing to do, but dread always sits in her stomach like a huge lump of rock.

She likes to watch the boats and the kids play happily in the sand. Occasionally she even dips her toes into the water.

If only she could get past the horror that tends to paralyze her mind – watching her twin sister Ella drown when they were seven years old is a memory that she doubts she would ever forget.

Mundane Monday

Raven on The Rails – Mundane Monday

Mundane Monday challenge is created to find beauty in almost everything.

The challenge is simple. Find beauty in everyday mundane things, capture the beauty and upload the photographs.

When I see a Raven, I think of Edgar Allan Poe and his horror stories.

The raven is the largest bird of the crow family. This family is called Corvidae and the old word for a raven Corbie. In mythology, the raven is often connected with death, which is why Poe chose it for his poem.

Jewels of Dew Drops

Catching glinting jewels of early morning dew drops

that would disappear just as the sun rises

brings a smile and

a reminder that everything in life is transient.

That those simple things are extraordinary things,

like a tiny dew drop

being a microcosm of an entire ocean.

Evanescent – The Daily Post

Stream of Consciousness Saturday.

Exhale…#SoCS

I am literally pausing and going on the slow this weekend to smell the roses, coffee, freshly mown grass and all the wonderful blends out there.

I have been running on full steam all week, pausing to catch fleeting whiffs of a smell now and again, but the ache in a shoulder tells me that it’s time to apply the brakes, to exhale and pamper myself with a weekend rest so that I don’t grow weary and feel faint, lest I find myself in need of smelling salts.

Keeping it brief, enjoy your weekend. Do find time to put up your feet and inhale the wonderful smell of life deeply.

Writers Quote Challenge

Writing is Horrible! – Writing Quote Challenge Prompt

Writing a book is a horrible, exhausting struggle, like a long bout of some painful illness. One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven on by some demon whom one can neither resist nor understand.
—George Orwell

This quote captures my recent thought as I thumb through a rough draft of one of my projects, gritting my teeth at the number of pages that needs to be edited. Some days I wonder if I am out of my mind, yet I know that I can’t stop. Stopping would be committing writing suicide.

It’s hard.

But I can’t throw in the towel.

I would rather throw me

and all the demons

that come out of nowhere

into it.
