Friday Fiction in Five Sentences

Stretched…Friday Fiction in Five Sentences.

Church, Prayer, Story, Fiction

Tara hated herself for what she was doing, but her clogged mind just couldn’t think of any other way out of her problems.

Her meagre earnings were stretched beyond its capacity that to eat one meal a day was now a hurdle.

Sending money back home to the Philippines to assist her folks with the younger siblings and her dad’s medication took virtually everything.

With a pounding heart, she prayed for forgiveness in the silence of her heart, cast furtive looks around and quickly dipped her hands into the offering bag; the small clutch of cash felt like burning coals in her palm.

John Paul saw her through the CCTV and smiled to himself; what a golden opportunity, he had her where he wanted her.

Hidden Self…

Hidden

As the days go by
and I unearth old hidden secrets
I discover good qualities right beside them

the fear most have is that when we let
those hidden things out of the box
others will judge us harshly

thus, we carry these heavy things
not knowing when to let go
and to set ourselves free

the thing is this,
even if you never have secrets to hide
people will still find reasons to judge you

and their opinion shouldn’t be your business
so, be your authentic self
live your life without hiding from yourself

Weekend Tea Party Invitation

Here’s Your Invitation.

jacquelineobyikocha's avatara cooking pot and twisted tales

Well there you go, with Daily Post sending out a prompt for tea, it seems they are in sync with me.

Y’all know that this girl here loves a good party even if it’s a virtual one, so consider this an invitation to the monthly blog party 🙂

These days I’ve reduced my coffee intake to just a cup of decaf in the mornings. For now, I am imbibing more of Chai Latte or Karak Chai, especially in the evenings when I kick back to read blogs and round up for the day. Drinking more coffee would only make my hyper active mind and insomnia worse because my mind has been consumed with thoughts of my book projects and how to make my second poetry book a success.

Let’s get together for tea and scones this weekend.

Party Time: Saturday 29th – Sunday 30th July

Look forward to seeing you.

Impatient Pagan…

When he made her acquaintance,
her fragrance titillated his senses,

he sought to have a dalliance
with her, she glowed with such radiance

and almost felt like an impatient pagan
for his increased hearts’ cadence

Posts That Caught My Interest #5

I love positive things. I love progress and exciting news. I love to see people chase after their aspirations and dreams and watch them grow. It inspires me more than I can tell you. Some days when my inspiration tank is low, good news from others pep me up and keep me going. Michele, I know you’ll do exceedingly well on this new path.

Inspired Beacon’s posts on better living, food for thought, inspiration, success tips, personal development and business sense keeps me pushing for higher grounds. Never Stop Fighting.

The ‘Fine Lines’ of this poem is not only riveting but empowering in its raw state.

I am mastering ‘How To Sail My Ship,’ how are you doing yours?

You have a right to your opinion, but you’ve got to learn to accept ‘My Opinion.’ In the bid to state your opinion as tell it as it is, also learn that it’s not a license to whiplash others with your venom.

I honestly can’t explain how it must feel to be purchased. A short post ‘I was a purchase,’ that left me pondering.

8 SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE WAYS TO MAKE BLOGGING EASIER

Content, Emails, Scheduling, Blogging, Blog Tips

Let’s keep to the truth and call a spade what it is and it’s not a big spoon. To blog consistently and to publish engaging top quality posts is hard work, don’t let anyone fool you.

It consumes time and energy to keep churning out those posts, but there are simple, effective ways to manage the process and to create that much-needed space so that you don’t feel overwhelmed.

Make a posting schedule and stick to it

You will often have spontaneous posts but to create achievable blogging goals, a publishing calendar gives you control of your processes. Without a schedule, you will find it difficult to keep track of what you are supposed to be doing and when. Scheduling makes a lot of difference.

Plan your time

Pick the time when you are most productive and use it to your advantage. I find that working early in the morning when others are still asleep works better for me.

It’s amazing how much work I get done in the space of an hour or two. Responding to emails and comments should be scheduled to give you some breathing space. Trying to respond to emails and comments as soon as they come in is one sure way to make you feel harassed and run off your feet.

Create a long list of your post ideas

As the ideas come to you, note them down. You could start writing the posts and flesh them out gradually if they are lengthy posts.

At present, I have close to a hundred unfinished posts in my draft and this approach helps me tremendously on days that my inspiration tank is running low or on days that I’m short on time.

Create Your Work In Batches

Creating posts that fall under similar category saves lots of time. For instance, instead of switching from one post to a different post that addresses unrelated topics, I choose a slot in my schedule to focus on creating several posts that share the same framework. This way, I’m in the zone – thinking of the same subject. Knowing where I’m headed makes the work faster. Read more…
